We're all debating like Coulter now. Conspiracy, I think you're a reasonable guy. Maybe we can get an actual fucking dialogue going about current events. And my brother served in Desert Storm and got righteously screwed.

It'd be nice to have Sue Dibny back. I'd much rather it be her than Superboy. I would be sad about Booster... but the way they're portraying him... It's really taking away from any sympathy for the character. They've completely gone back to his childish antics after he should have matured, and it's just agravating. I still don't see why they're so intent on destroying the Giffen League. Sue, Ted (Still pissed), Rocket Red, and now Booster? On the plus side, Black Adam is ridiculously ruthless.

It's fairly compelling so far, but they're going to have to have some payoffs midway-through. I'll keep buying for a while, but I don't want 45 issues of foreplay for a 7-issue orgasm.

Whenever I go to coffee with the other engineers in the office. The ladies literally hem and haw and giggle over the pastries and shit. The same damn types of pastries that have probably been there all month. Me: Coffee (or Earl Grey) *tip* Other Male coworker: Latte *tip* And the women never tip. Can you imagine going to a drive-thru and giggling about the order? Ohhhhh I feel like a *double* cheeseburger but I KNOW I shouldn't. Maybe Bacon.... Ohhhhh that's so SINFUL! I swore to myself I'm just getting a chicken sandwich. That's it. That's it. Ohhhhh to hell with it! It's TUESday. Give me a double cheeseburger! *giggle giggle giggle* That's pretty much what they do over pastries and whether they should get a latte or mocha. And these are like 40 year old WOMEN. I mean they're nice ladies and all, and they're fine to work with, but this is why I've taken to just drinking the office piss-coffee or bringing a diet Vault or MD to work. It's like the only excitement they get out of the day. I've seen them take 45 minutes on a 15 minute coffe break and come back all giggly and then complain about how much work they have.

Hadley got it with the quickness. Wasn't he just one of Spike's 'giant killer' conquests? Or was he there longer. Only reason I remember One Man Gang is because I saw him fight Spike and RVD in a three way dance live. He got acid dropped quick, IIRC. There's a guy that is really underwhelming physically. He's just like 6'2, if that, and fat. Hardly a monster.

The Directors Cut DVD Discussion ThreadSpecial K replied to Lil' Bitch's topic in Television & Film Curiously, the one scene that bigged me the most was when Elektra was slashing those bags to the Bring me back to Life song. SAIS ARE POINTY WEAPONS. They cannot slice, only stab. Jesus. I downloaded the Elektra movie, watched the first assassination scene, laughed my ass off and baleeted the movie from my computer. I do like Garner and think she has a future, tho.

One and Only Star Wars Geekiness ThreadSpecial K replied to Black Lushus's topic in Television & Film Oh, Game of Thrones is the fucking BEST. So, I've read the Thrawn trilogy. LIke when it first came out. I just got done with Pattern Recognition, and am halfway through Kavalier and Clay. What would you reccomend I read next in Star Wars? I'm leaning X-Wing. I did always have an obsession with Wedge. I was the one who was ten years old 16 years ago and saying: He's the only one who survived both Death Star runs!

I'll leave alone the issue of the coverup of Pat Tillman's death. I'm sure his family's outrage meant that they were commies who revelled in their son's death.

See, I can respect that. I've said it before, but I'll reiterate: the one completely partisan commentator I enjoy is Michael Medved, even though I disagree with him on the majority of things. He actually logically discusses his philosophy and arguments. Hell, he had Dan Savage on his show, and they had a reasonable, respectful discussion of gay rights. And what it boiled down to was they believed different things, not a virulent "you're wrong and I'm right" argument. On a good 80% of the issues I can see the sides of both parties. I'm probably 60-40 liberal. What I hate is that the news has come down to ratings, and hate-mongers on both sides seem to be what gets ratings. People love to be told what they already believe. They're not interested in rational political dialogue. They like their hosts to rant, pick out the idiot callers from the fringes of the other side and dissect them snidely. Then go on straw-man rants and slippery slope arguments instead of rationally discussing what's at hand. BOTH sides are saying the other side is trying to build up their voter bloc with this bill. It's damn silly. Look at the immigration debate. It's hard to get a reasonable discussion about this, so much that I still barely know what the bill really means, though I've been trying to follow it. The liberals on Air America are calling it racist, the right-wingers on talk radio are calling it amnesty. Surely it can't be both. I think that's still pretty damn unfair, and that's not how Coulter put it. She said they were revelling in the deaths of their husbands. O'Reilly said he was more upset about Glick's father's death than Glick was. That's some evil shit to say, no matter what. That's on the level of calling Pat Tillman an 'idiot', to me.

I never actually saw it, but they always claimed Justin Creible (sic) stole Great Sasuke's mask. Did he continue to wear it in Japan?

You know, ever since last season, I've been trying to place the drunk driver that killed Tommy's kid. Then the first episode of this season it struck me: I doubt it's him, but he looks EXACTLY like Joss Whedon. And it's funny. I watched the first two seasons of Oz since the end of season 2 of Rescue Me. Johnny will never be anyone but Ryan O'Reilly to me now, even though I saw him as Johnny first. It's the same for the guy that plays Schillinger. And Michael from Lost. Just shows you how strong Oz was as a show. EDIT: Great start to the new season. The underwater sound effect when Tommy is just overtaken by rage was really cool, since that actually happens. DOUBLE EDIT: And God, Janet is such a fucking vile, selfish character. Well I guess Tommy is too, but he has his charm. Janet may be my most hated character next to Nate Fisher.

Damn, she looks like she could shell a coconut with those things. She does have pretty, pretty hair. Though she looks like she dyes it.

Yes, of course Stalinist was silly, it's like invoking Hitler. Do you honestly take Ann Coulter seriously as a political commentator? As I said, ALL she does is name-calling and outrageous statements. Do you support her statements that the widows are revelling in the death of their husbands, or the 'Arabs are stinky' thing? And 50% of this country is conservatives. I think the vast majority of those people are reasonable human beings. Just like I hope you don't think that the 50% of people in this country that are liberal are complete crazies. People like Ann Coulter, and anyone like her on the left for that matter offer nothing but anger and hate, instead of actual dalogue. The only thinkg I find troubling is that Coulter and and Savage are so popular. Remember that lefty asshole who called Pat Tillman an 'idiot?' I don't remember people lining up to back him up. He was widely decried.

Fuck, that tax does seem excessive according to that article. If I was rich, I'd have 46% of my estate going to charities, not the fucking government.

Not as hot as the chick from the original who showed tirts. Or her body double. If they don't have the 'How do' scene, the movie fails. Who remade that song? Sneaker Pimps?
-
Republicans basically want to repeal taxes (favoring the very rich) and spend more than the Dems ever have. That's not fiscally responsible. If the Dems tax and spend, you may disagree with the policy, but it's not going to end up with half our country owned by foreign interests. If they cut taxes and cut spending, that'd be one thing. I think the best situation is a Dem prez with a Rep legislature. They got the budget balanced, remember that? That was AWESOME!

Invincible might honestly be the best ongoing superhero comic on the market today. The only others I'd put on par (that I read, at least) are Astonishing X-Men and Ultimates. (I'm sure there's some really great One Year Later titles ongoing, but it's too much for me to wade through) Invincible is about a high school kid whose dad is pretty much the most powerful superhero on earth. He finally gets his at age 17 (quite suddenly) and immediately starts superheroing. It's got great art, lots of memorable characters. Tons of homages and some witty dialogue, and has one of the hardest-hitting plot twists I've ever read in a comic early in the series. It's sort of like a much more concise, much less predictable Ultimate Spider-Man. It's a lot better than USM, which is a series I like quite a bit. 100 Bullets. This one I think should only be read in TPB format. It's a noir comic book that starts off with an intriguing premise. A mysterious man shows up with an attache case which contains proof that someone has been wronged, who wronged them, a gun, and 100 bullets of untraceable ammunition. They are then left to their own devices. There's a LOT of depth to the series. As it goes on it starts digging into the pasts of the characters, and the motives of the mysterious man. The plotlines become quite complex, and not everything's spelled out for the reader at first. It's a very intriguing read, and this guy can write characters with the best of them, giving them very distinct voices, unlike similar books like Sin City. I've read maybe half of the ongoing series, and it's just scratched the suface. EDIT: Also Hitman, which has finished its run. By Garth Ennis, so you can expect tons of weird characters and situations, and snappy dialogue mixed with oddly touching moments. It's set in the regular DC universe, in Gotham, but crosses over about as often as Swamp Thing. Better, IMO than Preacher or Punisher or his terrific Hellblazer run. It's great stuff. And I've already pimped enough, and it seems to be a love-it-or-hate-it series, but I love X-Force/X-Statix.

You take Matt and Trey seriously as political commentators? Because they're libertarians, you know. JustPassinBy needs to watch that SP episode where the Virgin Mary bleeds out of her ass on the pope. He could learn something about religion. Seriously, JPB. Defend that comment about being able to smell terrorists next to you on the bus. She couldn't. All she does is name-call and fawn over herself. All her collumns are are bile and vitriol, and are indicative of all that's wrong with political discourse in this country today. Every other collumn has something about ugly liberal women who don't shave their legs. Ha ha! How fresh and witty! No matter what you believe, about 50% of Americans vote Dem. It swings back and forth, but if you believe that liberals are such terrible, terrible people, then I would suggest that you don't love America that much, since you believe 50% of its citizens are terrible, terrible people. And I wasn't talking about Cindy Sheehan. Glick was sought out by O'Reilly to be on his show. He didn't camp out in front of the White House staging media events. The Current Events folder is about debate. It always has been. If you want to go to a political board that basically is "liberals suck, LOL, kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out" go to The Pit. I'm sure it'll be really fun, like the internet's meant to be.

One and Only Star Wars Geekiness ThreadSpecial K replied to Black Lushus's topic in Television & Film Yeah, Natalie Portman's quite the actress, but she sucked in the trilogy, by and large. Bad script + bad direction = bad acting. Hayden Christianson was supposedly exellent in "Shattered Glass." Every review I read (probably 3) mentioned that they were stunned that it was the same actor that they had seen in Clones.

Medved's the only right-wing talk show host who'll actually have people on who can debate him, and he does, instead of just crackpots. (though he has those too.) This is likely why no one listens to Medved. They just want to hear straw-man soliloques and ridiculous stories about 'dey're takin' r Christmas!'
