My enjoyment of Shaolin Soccer was heightened by the horrible translation I had of it. I'll never watch Titanic. That movie is fucking banned. Lots of people will never watch subbed/animated/sci-fi/merchant ivory etc, which of course is valid. And of course some people despise horror. Troma's definitely an acquired taste. And what that taste would literally be, I shudder to guess. How can you not love Lloyd Kaufman, though. I generally won't watch surrealist movies anymore, besides Lynch. I've seen El Topo, Un Chien Andelou, Naked Lunch, etc, and can safely say I'm sick of them. I'm sick of war movies too. Band of Brothers and Apocalypse now are pretty much the end-all/be-all of war movies on either side of the spectrum, and they just bring me down, man.

If we're talking Predator, the greatest macho scene in maybe any movie is the handshake turned midair arm-wrestling contest. The look on Arnold's face is terrific, along with the line 'been pushing da pencils to much Dil-LON' The gates of hell: girl bleeds from eyes, slowly throws up every organ in her body. Hellraiser: Uncle Frank comes back to life. Wicker Man: The ending. Haute Tension: The slaughter in the house.

I couldn't even watch that debate last night. All it was was attack attack attack. Neither person would rebut those claims, they'd just attack right back. It was completely uninspiring. For the time I watched I think Cheney definitely won, though.

I love Suspiria, and am looking forward to seeing Deep Red. Gremlin (who does music for his films) should be given a lot of credit too, though.

It must be noted that long haired women with the hair covering the face is sort of a standard in how the Japanese represent ghosts. What the trailer gave me is that it looks like a shot-by-shot remake of the first film. Ju-On, it must be noted is far scarier than the pussy Ringu and Ring (All right, Ringu had one GREAT scene) I agree that they show far too many of the scare moments of the film.
