Zambo is a fuckin' badass. Kid had nothing for him in that fight. As an official Kid nuthugger, I'll say he didn't look too bad the breif moments he was throwing early in the fight, especially for an wrestler turned wannabe-kickboxer. Besides, Kid would take him in a street fight. Unless something like that ^^^^ happened -

The thing about leg kicks is, that they might as well go to the head. In UFC especially they will kick the leg like once or twice a round. You have pulverize that fucking leg to get anywhere. Pedro Rizzo is the best leg kicker in MMA, he throws them often and fast, but not often enough so as to be telegraphed when he does throw them. -

Palmer was so gassed by the end of the fight he didn't even had his hands up. He might as well have held a sign that said "Please kick me!" -

Yeah, the Palmer/Bennett fight rocks your world. They had a couple of fights but the one you're talking about is the one where Palmer gets blasted almost out of the ring by a high kick, right? -

Is that the infamous scene they always show on Faces/Traces of Death kinda shit? -
That's becuase carbs don't fucking matter when it comes down to it. If you want to lose weight or get in shape just eat right (stay away from fast food and sugary stuff, shit like that) and exercise like four times a week. Instead people try to do this other shit that is only conjured up to benefit lazy people who don't want to work to get in shape, it's all about making a quick buck with that shit.

"I got it from this guy who was right... over there. *points to swirling dust cloud." "No wait, he was over there." *points to crazy old guy saying "youll be sorry"

I'm surprised no one has bitched about Buck winning. I've never heard his baseball stuff, though, so I might be wrong.

I've seen both. You're point is? This is getting bad when we're reduced to arguing over who's better based on their respective wins over a can. -

I think you're arguments conflict with each other: Shogun was able to finish Kanehara because of his balls out aggressiveness. Cro Cop went to decision because he is more of a technical striker who picks his shots and doesn't get overly aggressive unless he knows his opponent is about to go down. Shogun has great knees, but I think people are underestimating Rogerio Nogueira's standup skills. I think besides Wanderlei he would be the biggest challenge for Shogun in the tournament. I can't decide on Igor yet though, because I have yet to see him face a true Muay Thai fighter. -

I don't care if gets marks higher than "The Godfather", if it has Jimmy Fallon in it, I'm not seeing it. My brother has the same problem with Bill Paxton, unless Paxton's character dies in the film. -

And this is still based on one impressive win, and a bunch of other wins over cans and no names. Shogun has fought no one that possesses stand up skills on a better than average level, with the exception of Babalu, and, surprise, he lost to him. On the other hand Wandy has stood with Cro Cop and Hunt, both arguably in the top ten all time of K-1. Wanderlei's no fucking Kanehara or Shoji either, he won't stand there and let Shogun stomp his head or soccer kick him. So Wand got KO'd by Belfort, big deal, that was five years ago, everyone gets knocked out sometime (excepting Fedor the machine). And your argument about Shogun and Cro Cop and the whole Kanehara thing, it holds no weight, because every single fight is different. I suppose you think your new God Shogun could defeat Cro Cop now as well. I'm beginning to dislike Shogun and it's all your fault [cartman mode]Also, Shogun's jiu-jitsu is hyah, while Arona and Rogerio's jiu-jitsu is HYAH[/cartman mode] -
Each fighter possesses a strength going into the second round: Silva=Best ground and pound, egdes out Igor Sakuraba=Best wrestling/ground work, not counting submissions, which belongs to... Lil' Nog=Best subs Igor=Best punches Arona=Best ground control, though he's been criticized for being inactive Shogun=Best knees/kicks Nakamura=Unpredictability/intangibles Overeem=Reach, probably the "weakest" strength, but he might be the "weakest" fighter going into the second round, but try and tell that to Vitor and Chuck (yeh, I know he beat Alistair, bear with me).
-
I was pretty accurate in my first round matchups (pointless/useless shill), so here are my second rounders: Silva/Sakuraba: It's been done to death, but provides a draw for the quarter finals, while giving at least one of the two biggest names a trip to the semis. Shogun/Arona: BTT vs. Chute Boxe plus Arona having history with Shogun's brother makes this a logical matchup. Plus it guarantees another Brazilian out of the tourney. Vovchanchyn/Lil' Nog: Lil' Nog has already fought the other two a combined three times, twice in the past year, so this match makes sense. Nakamura/Overeem: They give Nakamura the match where he has the most chance of success by giving him Overeem, although he's no walk in the park, ask Belfort. I think if they end up with no Japanese fighter in the final, it won't be as big a deal as people make it seem. They could conceivably throw Sakuraba/Tamura on there as a the big drawing match, because these two guys have some bad blood between each other. Couple that with the possibility of Fedor/Cro Cop also being on the card, the highly rumored Yoshida/Dong Sik reserve matchup, and other superfights with big names like Nogueira, Rampage, etc. and you have a pretty killer card right there.
-
If Pride can't get a Silva/Sakuraba final, I think a Silva/Vovchanchyn final would be the best bet since Igor's probably the third biggest name left in the tourney behind the first two mentioned.
