The One & Only RAW 2 Thread!

They've been around much longer than Goldberg, and he's in the game. Though, they weren't in WM XIX either, and it went into development later than Raw 2 did.

    Goldberg vs TNA fans

I think the worst part of this thread are the laughably bad "____-berg" names some people are coming up with. I can understand the fact people here don't like the guy, and most act like he personally kicked them in the nuts..but come on. The harping about him being a prick, or the "Fuck Golberg" nonsense that hasn't died out yet is bad enough. When it gets down to it, Goldberg is a minor irritant at best. When you consider guys like Triple H, Austin, Vince, Steph, Taker, Lawler, and Ross get more TV time..or more of a push than Goldy has yet, I think some of this anger is a bit misplaced.

EA Sports, 1 week until written contracts

EA? Wonderful! That means the Xbox version (if they even make one) gets nothing but a straight PS2 port at best.

    Teddy Hart is great

Of course, you're comparing a guy who worked in a major national promotion as a main eventer to one (Hart) that worked one show in a cult-sized promotion..

    Johnny Depp Dislikes U.S.

I won't get into it, (the Depp thing) but I'll at least say I hate, and have always hated the "If you don't like it, get the fuck out" attitude. It seems to me that it only encourages people to go along with things, if just because everyone else is doing it.

    Sound problems with XP

This isn't a critical problem of any sorts, but it's annoying as hell. While playing a game designed for Win 95/98 like Fallout 2 or System Shock 2 (Both games I've had trouble installing in the past) the music will be just fine, but the sounds (gunfire, speech, etc) won't work. Setting it to Win 95 or 98 compatibility mode works for a few minutes, but then after a minute or two, the sound will dissapear again. Anyone know how to fix this?

    Soul Calibur II

Best Buy dosen't get it in until Thursday. Could get it elsewhere, but since I'm going to pick both SCII and Otogi at the same time, I'll wait.

WON Hall of Fame voting results

Bret/Austin is a match that's been rated so highly it's been blown to almost stupid proportions. The effect the match had can't be denied (the double-turn) but the match itself wasn't -that- great.

    Box Office Report for 8/22-8/24

Please, let FvJ die already. Ugh. Though, when the next one rolls around, the people who are fans of it, and hate so-called "overhyped blockbusters" are going have one hell of a problem.

WON Hall of Fame voting results

Technically, wouldn't "Hall of Fame" entry rely on how well known someone is? In that case, Michaels has Benoit beat hands down. Besides, backstage behavior has never mattered in these type of things. Lots of so-called "great" sports personalities weren't saints.

I've never seen the reason for the hate for the original Xbox controller. It's the S-type I despise, but I'm probably the only one.

    Bye Bye Alexis

You've got to see where some of these people are coming from. They've seen their favorites signed time and time again, only to be royally fucked with. The "lucky" ones wind up jobbing to a no-talent hack like Albert on Velocity. (If you want to say he's talent, fine. However, there's no denying a guy like Spanky or Noble is a better worker than he is.) The unlucky ones don't get airtime at all, or even house shows..they're just 'there'. What about the talented guys that get stuck with stupid (or worse) gimmicks (Rico, Kanyon, Noble), while people with half the talent and none of the charisma (Orton, Gunn, Show) get a good push? Simply put, a lot of people have no faith in -that- company to do anything worthwhile with someone they sign..unless said person is 6'6" and up. For crying out loud, this so called "Head of Talent Relations" thinks Nathan Jones was a good signing. The same guy who's been largely responsible for the continued existance of slugs all over the roster..most notably Albert, who's received more pushes total than the entire cruiserweight division in the last ten years. I'm almost inclined to say that they signed Alexis to "fuck with TNA", as someone else has already stated. After all, how much credibility does a statement like "Lita said she'd like to work with her" have in a company that's proven to listen to nobody but the yes-men on their own payroll? Much less to someone who's not named HHH or Undertaker.

You mean people actually -play- the lame ass gimmick characters? *chalks one up for Xbox version*

    Invasion vs Goldberg

The InVasion was worse. Much, much worse. Including such of my "favorites" like making Steve Austin (a declining, aging preformer) the focus of the entire angle..and having the same guy beat the ENTIRE Alliance in one night before joining them. Cute.

    What should you do...

This can't be real. What kind of idiot would go to an internet forum and sit to type a message (much less several, with perfect punctuation) instead of doing something to dull the pain? Hell, the typing looks too clean to be someone who severed a finger.

Kidman turns on Rey at house show

Kidman would have a right to bitch if he could actually..y'know..pull the move off decently. As it is, a guy like Lesnar is a threat because he actually gets height and range with the move..unlike Kidman, who does it from like three feet away.

EWR 4.0 Has Officially Been Set Free!

This is a stupid question, but.. Is there any really use keeping guys like Bischoff and Austin around?

It's not always a damn carry

For that matter, I don't think Benoit's better than Guerrero, either..but that's way off the subject.

    Racism and the double standard

Half the problems that exist in society today are because people don't WANT to find solutions to problems. It's much too easy to waste time, money, and energy on finding someone to blame for your problems. Or problems which may or may not have happened to you, or ones that happened fifty or a hundred years ago. For any group out there who thinks you were unfairly treated at some point in history, go ahead and hug the person next to you. It's likely that they were too. I don't like using the words "white", "black", "hispanic", or whatever. I don't like placing labels on people, but instead make it a point to judge them individually. Stereotypes are a bad thing, considering the people who actually fit a stereotype completely are few. If someone's using their race as an excuse for their behavior, or to justify something they've done..then I pity them. I'm sure it bothers people of their -own- race to be associated with something like that. It dosen't really matter if someone's black, white, or green. The type of person someone is in no way depends on the color of their skin. For example: Think about the people you associate with on this board. Does it really matter what they are? No, it dosen't..because you get to know them first, and form a judgement on that. Use that part of your brain more often, and you'll do just fine. My two cents.
  20. Even a half-assed push is more than a guy like Tajiri, Noble, Spanky will ever get, even though those three blow away Albert in almost every area. (Though, he's gotten several huge monster pushes in the past. Nobody will ever give a shit until he gets an actual character, but they won't ever realize that.)
  21. El Psycho Diablo

It's not always a damn carry

It seems to me that the entire "WWE brawling style" as exists today was brought into place to cover Austin's declining in-ring ability. That, and to keep guys like Benoit, Eddy, and Jericho from showing him up completely.
  22. He may be "decent"..but what about all the guys who are -better- than he is, and don't get the same push because Ross dosen't slobber all over them?
  23. El Psycho Diablo

What's so bad about Randy Orton?

I'd like to know where these possibilities are, for one. It seems to me that there are three types of "megapush" stars. There's the Rock, who was annoying, but turned out to have an amazing persona that people connected with once he got out of the gimmick he was stuck in at first. There's HHH, who was pushed far beyond what anyone else had been before, and given every oppertunity in the book and more. His days of geniune overness are gone, along with his ring skill..replaced by an oppresive "character" (replace with whatever you wish) who's forced to rely on his relationship with the Boss' daughter, and heavy politicking to keep his spot. Then you have the Billy Gunn-types, who just don't have what it takes, but keep getting pushed anyway. Seems to me Orton will be more of a Triple H..instead of the "next Rock" as they're hoping.

What's so bad about Randy Orton?

Orton dosen't deserve a push. Why? He fails in every area. Let me note that while being a good wrestler has never, ever mattered when it comes to being a main eventer in the WWE.. (Hogan sucked, Austin half-assed it 90% of the time, Rock tries, but isn't "great", and HHH..we all know what happened there.) ..it's to the benefit of the person being pushed if they CAN hold their own in the ring. He's not particularly charismatic, either. (Tajiri is more charismatic than Orton, and he speaks Japanese. That's just one random name out of many.) Orton's getting his push BECAUSE he's a generic, tall white guy. That's the kind of person Vince likes, and the only slightly smaller than Hoss-type Ross drools over. He's got nothing but a few power moves, and a lot of punches. That fits their criteria wonderfully. Taking Lesnar for an example, it's important to point out that he didn't get over as what the WWE was pushing him as..a big "monster" type heel that kills little guys. (You think they'd learn after all nine thousand of those type pushes failed. Name anyone who's gotten over on the basis of that alone.) Lesnar got over out of a combination of the smarkish Summerslam crowd, and tossing around the Big Show like he was nothing. He's the old "face that dosen't back down" type, which seems to work fairly well. Say what you will about Lesnar, but he's at least got a few mannerisms. Orton dosen't even have those.

Did it before, I'll do it once more

I'll agree with the Escaflowne reccomendation. (The reason the ending feels rushed is that it was supposed to be a longer TV series, but only wound up being 26 eps. Still, it fits well.) I haven't seen Zeta Gundam yet, but with Bandai releasing both it and Gundam Seed next year, I'll get my fix. ..and to anyone who's never seen a Gundam series, please, please don't judge it on Wing. I'll keep my hatred of it to a minimum, though. As far as my own reccomendations go, I'd have to say Rurouni Kenshin, even if I haven't managed to see all of it yet. Great show.
