Geezus... I even added quotation marks and people still think I'm serious about it. ...God, maybe I need to post more jokingly stuff. Apparently I must be too serious for the board. Speaking of serious, damn the Oilers haven't been playing great. We've been playing good enough to win games, but let me tell ya this is definitely not the team that was close to winning Lord Stanley. Hopefully we buckle down soon and become that team people feared during the playoffs. ..ok, so not feared, but didn't really want to drag the series out against.

Actually, I got lucky and got drafted by Redskins on try 1. My HB I made got drafted by the Pats first, but I didn't want to be on a team that drafted a featured back (Maroney) already, so I re-did it and ended up on the Jets. And so far, I'm hating it. While I got only 17 attempts for 178 yards and 2 TDs in my first game, that doesn't tell the whole story. My guy scored his two TDs from 59 and 66 yards respectively. So as it stands without those two rushes my totals would've been 15 attempts for 53 yards. I ain't impressed with the Jets to say the least. Especially since week one was against the freaking Titans. Oh and I found the easiest formula for NCAA for me. First season take some really cheesy easy course and barely make it thorugh since I know nothing about NCAA and hopefully keep my GPA at 2.0. Then switch over to Chemistry because I can ace it easily since it actually has very simple Chemistry questions and ride out the rest of the way. So much fun. -
Actually that's pretty true DrV. I'm kinda skeptical about this being a decent game to play.

Actually the cyber-oil drop's 3 tips are supposed to represent the past present and future. The past being the "lowest", the present being the longest, and the future the "highest". Each little circle is supposed to represent the 5 Stanley Cups we've won. Or at least that's the concept of the design apparently.
-
Apparently not us. We're only a 25+ year old franchise. We don't have much history to begin with, so changing such a classic and pretty much unchangable logo is needed because we need to be "marketable". Cyber-oil, oil rig drop, guess its the same thing in the end. I like it too, but I don't know if it should be become our new logo for the future. Then again, our ownership group doesn't do things to have them wasted, so if the league does crack down on the alternates, I do expect this to happen sooner or later. Its only a matter of if the ownership group wants to promote it as a "new energy/image" type of deal that they've been promoting with all the ads going around on television, billboards, and stuff.

Speaking of those alternate jerseys being cut down, word is the Oilers are planning on keeping the blue oil rig drop and likely using it as the home jersey (since its dark blue) with the white Oiler "old" logo as the away jersey. I'm of the thinking the oil rig drop is gonna become our new logo sooner or later.

I'd just like to chip in here regarding the hockey part. You won't be seeing that guy plays for 8 different teams unless they suck in the NHL. The NHL cap has basically made it so that you sign a nucleus for long term and sign one or two guys here and there. Ahem, continuing on, I'd just like to say that I think it'll be interesting to see how much that turn over will be. Wonder if we'll see a bunch of movement and half a team being replaced or something silly as that (I know it won't happen, but hey, you never know).

...I take it you tested this to see which ones would draft you? *shudders* Dear God I was just kidding about Houston and Green Bay. Best one to get drafted by is the Redskins. All I've needed to do is sit back and let my guys do what they need to do and its like racking up spare change. And this is 3 of my 10 o-liners out. ...although, Dear God, can Portis suck anymore ass at the goaline? The guy does not score at the goaline at all. I just get into the endzone and audible out of the goaline rushes now and either call my own number on a passing play or use the TE. Its just not worth it using him, because he NEVER gets in. ...ok, he did once but that's cause I did a freaking cut block for him myself to do it. I'm half tempted to go through and do a half back or some type of defensive player now just to try that out. Might try 5'11 middle linebacker. That would be entertainment. -
I liked Rabbit of Seville the best. Second best would be the "Opera" one that was mentioned, and finally followed by "Figaro". Just great stuff.

I think Disgaea would've been ok if the art at least look up to being the same standard as the promo. Well, not as high, but not as low. Its very hard to enjoy the show when its as bad looking in some spots as you can get. The storyline was non-existant for quite some time and frankly that hurts too. While Disgaea's storyline in the game wasn't the greatest, it still was there from start to finish. The pacing for the storyline is worse than Fate Stay Night, and that was pretty bad. But I think the biggest problem with Disgaea, is sadly... The VAs for Japan just don't cut it. This is one of the few times I can actually say I'd rather have the English VAs doing it because it was mailed in terms of voice acting. As for Negima!? the multi-panels annoyed me at first but then I realized you could watch it each time for a different panel to see the reactions because each one would have a different thing (I tried watching each one and that drove me nuts). Gives the show some replay value. Especially the dialogue parts you mention. I hope we get more fights like in that flashback. Cause they seem to be setting up some good things. I'm a little disappointed though with Asuna just automatically accepting this magic stuff. In the manga, she has to be kinda violently shook up (love potion and retriving the book of knowledge) in the manga to accept his word about it. Oh, and I was more meaning that as a compliment concerning the whole spoken part. It is unique and different. I also like how the intro isn't as flashy as others (ie: less money spent on it), because it means more flashiness can be put elsewhere.

So I finally decided to try playing SuperStar mode in Madden with a QB from NCAA. He turns out to be the next Michael Vick. You know: 96 speed, 98 agility, 98 acceleration, 76 awareness, 80ish accuracy, and 99 throw power. Anyways, I go to the draft thinking "well shit, watch the Texans or Green Bay, or some team that doesn't need me draft me." ...so you can imagine my surprise when the Washington Redskins drafted me. About the only thing I was happy about with that was the fact that I could easily beat out Brunell for the starting job. And I did. First real game was against the Vikings. I did pretty bad there, hitting only half of my passes, 2 INTs, and getting sacked a lot. I didn't do bad throwing for yardage (260ish), and I did manage to get 3 TDs. 31-28 was the score. But my second game against the Cowboys was just wild. As in I f'n owned them. I don't know what it was, but I couldn't miss a pass. Nearly every pass connected and I was only sacked twice. Managed to rack up a nifty 100ish yards on the ground with 2 TDs, and 513 yards in the air with 7 TDs. We also managed to break the most total yards with 755. Considering how badly my first game had gone, didn't think I'd shell out the Cowboys like I did. Sadly the defense couldn't keep the shutout, but we won 70-14. -
I'm highly enjoying this different telling of Negima. Its a swell idea to immediately start off with Eva if you need to have a storyline pre-made. Speaking of which, apparently the storyline is mostly finished at episode 3 and they are doing a time stretch of Negi's teaching and all other things (which I think is a good idea), so we might immediately segue into the Kyoto arc, simply because of what Setsuna was talking about. Although, I'm wondering what the jewelry plays into. Takamichi seems to have one, as did Nagi (now Negi's). Also its kinda weird having them talk for quite a bit of the opening, then near the end bust out the opening song. I'm wondering if its supposed to be that way, or it just was for the second episode.

If I was Esche, I would say that I'm not playing in Philly after that embaressment. I wouldn't blame him at all. BTW, is it me, or are the mainstay rivalries like Calgary vs. Edmonton, Original 6s, and others starting to see life again? I ask because both Calgary vs. Edmonton games have been very passionate, and the few Original 6 games I've caught seem to have that flair as well.

Geezus... Go Phaneuf! Kill! I want more guys flying that high!

Unless Oakland helps keep that lead from 14, I'm as good as 1-5... I basically need to roll the rest of the season to even attempt to make the playoffs. God, I do good the last two times I did this, but this year I flat out bomb.

Well, if I could fully pay for one I would. But I can only right now afford to pay for $50. ...sadly though, this won't mean jack as there was no f'n way I'm standing outside in the freezing cold trying to make a pre-order that there are only 15 per store. I'll take my chances trying to buy at launch day.
-
Well, my playoff hopes are screwed and I nearly didn't want to make my picks. Oh well, here we go anyways. SF - 21 (1.5) Buffalo Baltimore (3.5) (6.5) Cincinnati Houston Atlanta (3.5) New Orleans (3.5) Seattle Washington (10.5) Pittsburgh (6.5) N.Y. Jets (2.5) San Francisco Oakland (11.5) Chicago
-
BTW, like to correct something about that EB Games thing. Maybe its only Canada, but that $50 deposit is TRADE INS. It is NOT for cash value. If you wish to pay in cash, you need to pay $200. Trade in gets you $50. And EB Games is only doing 15 per store pre-orders. Again, I say maybe this is only Canada, but considering whatever one does, the other does concerning large retail stores, I'll take it as both countries doing it.

Tales of The Abyss is pretty damn fun. I love the battles, hate the fact that I never seem to have enough cash (but hate in the good way), and a whiny brat as the lead character is change of pace. Hopefully it continues to be pretty good. -
Oy... How did I miss that?

NMFL - Currently 4-1, as I somehow won last week only getting 139.33 points in a league that has the following scoring: Passing Yards (25 yards per point), Passing Touchdowns (6), Interceptions (-3), Rushing Yards (10 yards per point), Rushing Touchdowns (6), Reception Yards (7 yards per point), Reception Touchdowns (6), Return Yards (20 yards per point), Return Touchdowns (6), 2-Point Conversions (2), Fumbles (-1), Fumbles Lost (-3), Field Goals 0-19 Yards (3), Field Goals 20-39 Yards (3), Field Goals 40-49 Yards (4), Field Goals 50+ Yards (5), Point After Attempt Made (1), Tackle Solo (1.5), Tackle Assist (.75), Sack (3), Interception (4), Fumble Force (3), Fumble Recovery (3), Touchdown (6), Safety (10), Pass Defended (2), Block Kick (10). My biggest problem in that league is I've got Rudi, Bush, Addai, and Edge as my HB. I'm almost willing to run 4WRs, since I've got CJ, Santana, Keyshawn, Driver and Walker. For the rest of the cast I've got Bulger, Big Ben, Gonzalez, Davis, and Graham. IDP wise, I'm doing ok, nothing outstanding, but getting some goodness. In the Go Pats!!!, I'm currently 3-2 winning this week which was after coming off a upsetting loss where I had all my IDP on byes during week 4 and I still nearly won. Its got a short bench, hence instead of trying to fiddle with defense and juggling the lineup and losing players on my bench that I didn't wanna lose, I went into the draft with the idea of drafting the best IDP that all had the same weekly bye and accept one loss for what amounted to a better shot overall at obtaining a shot at the playoffs. So far so good. Even my other loss was a near loss (more because I started Big Ben >_<). My last league I'm in is the Ben Graham Fun League (TSM sponsered). Its an odd league in which you only get whole points and the scoring is a little mash of everything. Currently 2-3, and again, my HB group is suffering some suckage, but hopefully I can mildly remedy that. No IDP here. Overall, not bad, but I certainly could be doing better in the last two leagues. Considering I missed the draft completely for BGFL, I'm just happy I'm in the hunt for the playoffs.

Shirt...clue? Huh? What are you talking about?

I don't think many will get resolved quite so easily. 52 is supposed to be building up to OYL, so I'm thinking that while quite a few of these will be dealt with, I'm thinking that more than likely we'll see quite a few major plotlines continue directly into the OYL, but be resolved during when the last issue of 52 hits. Therefore, setting up and closing these storylines down.

I wouldn't say it's like FMA, it borrows some of the FMA terminology, but from what I've read so far and heard from others who've read the manga, they don't really transmute anything other than their weapons. Actually, concerning Negima, yes, I did mention those spoilers are big, but won't ruin your watching of it. As for Konoka and Setsuna being all chummy, Setsuna is sorta acting a little like how she is currently during the manga. Just a little. Although, she still seems to be a "servant" and not an actual friend, I'm hoping. Them being chummy is just as you said. Not as fun unless full blown yuri mocking fun. Then again, considering this is supposed to be prime time TV, and shotakun Ayaka got on, I'm kinda thinking we might see something. Maybe not. BTW, when is this reference of dress looking good and she's BUTT-naked? The original anime? Because I certainly don't recall the manga having that scene at all. Unless we're speaking of the age pills. 37 episodes is an odd number for a Japanese show. Usually they go either 13, 24, 26, 32, 48, or 50. Usually when an anime includes things from another anime, its built as in the same "universe" as said other anime. I point to A.I. Love You (actually that's just manga so far), Love Hina, and Negima as a prime example of this (but this is more the manga, than the animes for these). Usually animes don't retain the same things or very little unless spoofing. But this could be another world in that universe and therefore have nothing more than a name. As I recall hearing that in the last FMA (movie) that the brothers are in seperate worlds but alchemy works in both. So we could have that way. This is usually though, and I could be wrong concerning this one.

At this point, I'm sure Rathje actually is faster. Leetch never had blinding or something resembling speed.
