BIG announcement expected backstage on Monday
MillenniumMan831 replied to Dips's topic in The WWE Folder
Vince: I'm injecting this company with a lethal injection of POISON!!! RVD: The nWo is coming back again? Vince: SHHAADDUPPPP!!! I said I'm injecting this company with a lethal injection of POISON!!! -
Jim Duggan's promo on Unlimited was one of Hacksaw's best promos ever. Ok ok ok, I only say that since he's the first wrestler I can think of to belt out a hearty . . . "TAKE . . IT . . . EASY!!!" during a promo. Eh, made me laugh.

Completely agree w/ everything here. This is probably the result of a booking "committee". If one or two people were in charge of writing these shows, I highly doubt that there'd be so many contradictions in the booking. And HHH did indeed cause the eliminations of RVD in 02 and 06 (In 02, he Pedigreed him allowing Booker to casually chuck him out).

Kind of an obscure request, but does anyone have the Tag Team Royal Rumble done on Raw in the summer of 1998? It was 10 teams in which Kane/Mankind won. Terry Funk/Scorpio, LOD, DOA, Too Much, and 5 other teams were in it. Haven't seen it since it aired so my memory is a little cloudy. Thanks in advance.

I'll have to give that site a peek tonight . . . and I'll have to remember to send ya the Petty tune if ya don't already have it.

THE OAO Raw thread for 2/20/06
MillenniumMan831 replied to Open the Muggy Gate's topic in The WWE Folder
The only notable differences on Raw in the last 3 years are a neutered Joey Styles and Thea on Raw. Everything else is the status quo. Just spinning their wheels until HHH dies. -
Black Lushus --- You're right. The Bomb Angels and Glamour Girls also had WWF Women's Tag Title matches at MSG in Nov87 (Women of WWF), Royal Rumble 1988 (Best of WWF Vol 15), and at the Spectrum (High Flyers).

I guarantee ya "Crank it Up" was the last song those in the Richfield Coliseum were expecting to hear that night. Another goodie from SS87 was the women's match. IIRC, it had nice pacing, innovative (to an American wrestling fan) spots, and a feel-good ending. Besides, if you can't mark out for a giant swing from time to time, ya really need to loosen up. Oh yeah, the heckler chanting "Moooooooolllahhh . . . Moooooooooollllahhhh!!!" also got a chuckle or two out of me. oh yeah, i forgot about that...the Jumping Bomb Angels were doing shit american fans at the time had never imagined. I've never seen Jesse Ventura mark out so hard for faces before or since. The Bomb Angels were incredible and The Glamour Girls also pulled their weight to assist making the BAs look like $1,000,000. I certainly would have loved to see them book some 6-woman tags w/ McEntyre & the Bomb Angels after that.

The best part is the name of the ppv.

I think some of them might be but now that I think about it, they're probably mostly wavs.

Nice recap Cawthon. I really wouldn't know what to say to a guy like Steamboat myself. I'm sure I'd have dozens of semi-interesting things to say leading up to it but would freeze as soon as I saw him and barely stutter out "Nice to meet you sir."

THE OAO Raw thread for 2/20/06

Nice touch. Would it kill you to TRY and be positive about the product? That shouldn't be a problem . . . I'm positive HHH will be winning tonight. The classics never die. -
Call me naive but I think Simon Dean is going to survive the roster cuts. He seems to be adapting to the "WWE Way" quite nicely and isn't afraid to make himself look like an idiot. Plus, he's quite the trooper for jobbing to The Boogeyman on multiple occasions.

10 seconds in and Awesome chucks Spike through a stack of tables . . . Cyrus: That was quick.

Thanks for the notes Arnold. Do you happen to know how long it takes to get the 1st issue after a paypal payment is made? Thanks.

I can e-mail ya the Petty song when I get home. In the mean time, sitcomsonline.com should have a couple of the TV themes you're looking for.

Bagwell/Scorpio won the Tag Titles under him in 1993 . . . and lost them the next day. -
Agreed. They were just as "funny" in WWE. Too Much still reigns supreme as wrestling's funniest/best fairy duo.

He turned face around then which also made him lose his push. Teddy Long began to manage him and Pittman couldn't buy a win until the end of his run in latter 1996. -
Ah ok. I'll take your word on that. Had me fooled. I thought DBS looked different but I wrote that off to him having shorter hair than in 92.

Not from what I saw. They just showed up one week and Bischoff as commentator casually mentioned that they want to be Booker T and Stevie Ray from now on. I believe this coincided w/ the angle that ended them up w/ Sister Sherri. -
WCW "Secondary" Shows I.E.-Worldwide,Pro
MillenniumMan831 replied to Chazz's topic in General Wrestling
Yeah, that match came out of nowhere. I remember a few weeks prior they had a match on Raw which Horowitz almost won so I figured when/if they'd have Barry win one, it'd be on the flagship show . . not the cable version of Challenge. -

I guess they wanted a chance to jump on a pun (Syxx being the 6th member of the nWo behind Hall, Nash, Hogan, DiBiase, and The Giant).
