Finished Quentin Bell's biography of Virginia Woolf a couple days ago. It's ok but, like everything else I've read about Woolf and her periphery, it doesn't seem to really capture her full life. It will probably take somebody with at least a touch of insanity to wrote a book about her that really comes close to getting the full person/story. Little something for Smitty: There's a nice little book out there called 'Lyndon Johnsons War,' or something like that. It's short but a fairly good look into the Vietnam War. It's written (true story) by a Dr. Michael Hunt.

He gave it all up because he didn't want that bastard Obama to come take all his money. And he didn't have time to get a plumbing license with his busy schedule of trying to ridicule war correspondents while he he reports from the Middle East theater.

Holmes had trained with and admired Ali, he didn't want to hurt him. And he would have if he had gone all out. Ali had no business fighting Holmes or even Trevor Berbick afterwards.

George Foreman and Ron Lyle fought one of the most exciting heavyweight fights ever in the 1970s. Their kind of cartoon, bombs-away, big heavyweight fighting wouldn't be seen again until Derrick Jefferson-Mo Harris on HBO in the late 90s. Holmes was knocked down by Shavers and got up and came back to win. Plenty of other heavyweights agreed with Holmes that Earnie Shavers was the hardest puncher they ever faced. That happened a few times with Holmes, getting off the canvas to win. I've never really understood how people have been bored by him. He wasn't as flashy as his champion bookends, Ali and Tyson, but he was really good. His jab was probably the best ever in the division, the guy was tough as shit, and he could knock people out. And, he wasnt some kind of dull professor kind of champ either. Holmes had a middle school education and could always be counted on to say or do something stupid ( and entertaining). We'll get to see some more in Al's next episode.

I think he would. But I don't disagree with Clinton as Secretary. They're both qualified, both earned the position by efforts during the campaign. It had to have been Obama's hardest selection.

Agent - He likes lunch-pail football. That equals one vote. Sensei - This was a tough call. I think I've had more interaction with Sensei on the board than with Treble. VX - Hardest choice of the entire tournament. I guess I'll just give a vote for VX because we had to slog our way through that bloody stool of a Packers season.

Ezzard Charles is very underrated by history. He wasn't the best heavyweight champion ever but the rest of his career make him a legend. Also, my great-uncle claimed to say he worked/trained at the same Chicago gym as Charles back in the day.

They were talking about Mayor Sheila Dixon's various hijinx all the time on the local news when I was in Baltimore during the summer, in between the stories of the shootings (13 in celebration of July 4).
