Yoda and Obi-Wan were planning on waiting until the children were of age to possibly bring down the Sith themselves. It was a huge leap of faith in Anakin and the infants' future abilities on their part, but it paid off. 'sides, had Luke grown up with Vader, he would have surely been given a lightsaber at some point anyway.

I call it the "where's Poochie?" effect. I expect things to return to that now that HHH is back, but whatever. For the record, all I thought before Flair did the swerve last night was that he was awfully close behind Batista as HHH came out. I suppose that I was still fooled is either a testament to my own gullibility or Flair's ability to sell an angle.

The reason that this character is doing so well for itself is that, tada, it's an exaggeration of the real life person. If we could just get that with more people now.
