Defensively, we look great against Florida. After years of plodding power teams, the defense this year is full of speed. Speed itself doesn't mean jack, but they're well-coached and won't have too many problems keeping up with the untested Gator spread offense. Offensively, we're good for three, maybe four touchdowns if Florida doesn't commit any turnovers and especially if Ainge steps up his game like he has the first two games this year. He was 21 for 24 at one point deep in the Air Force game last week, right before his sole interception of the day. Besides, as big as the opener with Cal was, this is always the biggest game of the year now. The young'uns have confidence from both a spanking and a close game over talented teams, and it'll be Tennessee's third straight game at home. Yes, already. I'm optimistic because Florida hasn't really played anyone yet. Southern Miss gave them a game for a half, but that was it. They're damned good I'm sure and they're definitely worthy of great concern, but this is one of the few years where I feel really confident in 'em going into this game.

I think it was thinking more about Florida next week when an Option-based team was coming to town. You can't sleep on one of those, you'll get cut to pieces. I think the extremely close win will motivate some of the younger starters (we've got enough of 'em) to put forth a full effort from here onward. It's hard not to look forward to such a huge game, but we've gotta cut down on that big time if we want to really return to the Tennessee of old. Ol' Phil would spit some coachspeak about not executing or whatever. On the bright side, only three more wins will equal our total from last year!

It's all good, I'll be ranked again after next week. Surely a 3-0 team would get a place in the top 10. I don't feel like checking out who I'm playing though. I just make picks. They're either right or they aren't.

Tennessee fans are far too confident. The group gathered at the sports bar was looking only at the -20 line and kept saying "they run the OPTION, man. You misinterpreted the lesson. The moral of the whole thing was to always be scared of your own shadow, don't trust anyone, and if it ain't with us, it's agin'us. That's what the lesson seems to be, if one listens to speeches on the subject.

About time someone did.

I had no reason to think it wouldn't be 100% like the trunk of every other '99-'04 that I've seen, including the one I owned in 2003. They didn't even tell me it was back there when I bought it, and I found an amplifier back there when I looked further into it today! The little bit of exposed yellow wire that I saw in the interior when I was initially checking it out ended up leading to the amp and the subs, which are both from Bazooka. I took it by my friend's house tonight. He runs a Mustang performance parts business and told me after a drive and look-around that not only does it have Flowmaster mufflers, it has a Prochamber H-pipe and 3.55 gears, in addition to a K&N intake. These amount to about 20hp over stock (total of 280hp at the crank and probably 260 being put down to the tires) and it's apparently one of the best casual modification setups I could have. I don't plan on doing anything more than what's on it now, since it's already beyond what I would have planned. I do plan on converting all of the dash lights and gauges to a light, cool blue to match the aftermarket stereo head unit and make the outdated (even at the time it was built) interior look at least a little current. I'm improving on my ability with a manual gearbox, but it helps that the car creates so much torque with those 3.55's in the back that I don't even have to use 1st or 2nd gears during normal driving. It came stock producing 302lb/ft of torque as it was. When you want to get on it, it's sublime.
