If you actually do a search, it's how the heatsink is attached to the system.

In a nutshell it absorbs/helps disapate heat from the processor.

Uh, I don't think that would be the problem. Most of the RRoD are hardware related and usually related to how the heatsink is setup.

You can't get more than a 1 year out of some computer manufacturers without paying extra. And technically doing your own fix voids your warranty by opening the case. Tivo only gives you like 90 days I think!

These aren't normal pieces of electronics though Rip, they are basically computers. Anyone with any experience with computers knows that a power supply can fail in 6 months or a hard drive can die in 3. Fortunately for computers you can either A) send the one part that is a problem in and get a warranted replacement or B) say fuck it, buy your part the next day and replace it yourself. With the 360, PS3 and Tivo (to a certain extent) it takes a bit more knowledge and such to make those repairs yourself. The PS3 though if the HD dies at least it is user replaceable.

I got mine today after beating Jessica on Hard in GH2. Probably didn't save it. *shakes fist*. At least I have my PS3 till I get mine back. I bought my in Nov 06 and it crashed now in July 07.

Hmm around here it is Safeway, Albertsons, Haggens, Top Food (Kroger), QFC, Fred Meyer (Kroger owned but it's part department store too), Cost Cutter and there are a fair amount of Trader Joes around but that isn't really a grocery store IMO.
