But the Xbox's are having a pretty decent fail rate. The fact that they are in a resonably unchallenged niche (mid priced gaming) is the reason they aren't addressing it. Electronics in general are going to have a fail rate, but there is no way that these things aren't over 20% and 20% is unnacceptable. I have a hard time believing that there have been 2 million users with RROD. 200,000? I can believe.

Mine has had no issues in the 8 months or so I've had it (knocks on wood). The 360 needs very good venting. Nothing stacked on it etc. I would even recommend not running it with a glass enclosure closed. Determining somethings reliability is iffy. Look at a Tivo or any device with a hard drive. Usually that drive will last at minimum 5 years and inside the Tivo it is running ALL the time. But, there are times when they have died within a year and Tivo only gives you 90 days parts and labor! Out of the 5 million that they have, this happens fairly frequently but then when you look at total cased and compare to boxes under sub, it isn't that great a piece of the pie.

Yeah, it was only like $50ish from MS so my 360 is covered till November of 2009.

You are better off just making sure your 360 has good ventilation.

This entire post is as Ripper said, generalized BS. Every organized group of people is more or less governed by the collectives moral guidance. Whether that is common sense or religion based. Religion has been anything but protected from criticism.
