A Close Call: A few years back, me and my at-the-time girlfriend were driving aimlessly around Tampa. I called Milky (he still lived there) with the idea of getting him to meet us somewhere, but he didn't answer his phone. Which, I suppose, is for the best, because I have no idea how I would've introduced him to her.

I met Agent a few years back. Prior to his showing up, I was concerned that meeting some board person was going to be terribly awkward—what would we talk about?—but within five minutes of him showing up at my door, we were in my bathroom exchanging handjobs getting high.

Oh man, this movie was hilarious. I mean that in a good way; if weren't for the threat of PC backlash, this film could be and should be advertised as a horror-comedy.

gary floyd's posts throughout this thread are just as bad as the fanboyism of Jaxl and UYI.

My best friend in middle school and high school loved Gary Hoey. He was also fond of KMFDM, Death, and Megadeth.

Slash is only more successful right now because Velvet Revolver is more attune with what's popular on rock radio. It has nothing to do with Weiland or Rose's respective singing chops, or lack thereof.

The guy also had a display of movies he loved, as well (the only title I can recall is the hardly critic-proof Magnolia), but yeah, it was completely stupid and dumb that the display existed. What purpose is being served in trying to sway people from buying something?

Getting to be surrounded by books and receiving nice employee discounts to buy them was definitely great, but it was still retail. Plenty of stupid customers, dumb co-workers, and bonehead managers.

Honestly, I've never had any complaints with the service at any of the chain bookstores I've been to. Most of the employees at places like B & N and Borders are relatively self-aware w/r/t their position in the world. They work in retail and they know that. Independently owned stores, be it book, record, or video, tend to be home to the real douches. Any of you guys ever been to Kim's Underground in NYC? Great store, but engage any of the employees in whatever fashion and they look at you as if you farted. I do recall encountering an instance of snobbery at Borders, or at least witnessing it. I was at a store in Orlando where, in the DVD section, a display was set up called "_______'s Overrated Movie Club." This was several years back, so it had titles like Saving Private Ryan and Titanic. What was the point of that display? The guy worked in retail; it wasn't his place to put people down about their taste. (An aside: I'm surprised whatever supervisor/manager approved such a snide and flippant display. That would never have flown at the store where I worked.)

As goes Mole, so goes the rest of the board. The "Ombudsman" title may've been cute at first, but really, it's just giving Bob an excuse to make the same posts he always makes, this time with an inflated sense of self-importance. Off with his head.

The lyrics to "30th Century Man" are goddamned goofy but the combination of Walker's voice and the song's melody are just so irresistible that I don't care.

There's a group of people who actually believe Tilt and The Drift are the best Walker albums. While I like those two—Tilt, especially—anyone who feels that way is either 1) kidding themselves, or 2) nuts. Scott 4 is pretty much a godhead for me. The songs are just so, so good, though I notice not a one appears in your top 10. Of the ones you list, "Montague Terrace" is my favorite. Have you heard Climate of Hunter, Czech?
