  1. Run DMC did have an influence on NYC-based hip hop, but that's about it; even then, their influence only lasted a couple of years (unless you want to get into the rap-rock thing, but then the Beastie Boys had as much a hand in that). But yeah, gangsta rap was born in '88 with Straight Outta Compton. N.W.A.'s defining moment birthed a popular genre that still exists/sells over 16 years later. Run DMC can speciously lay claim to a genre that was bastardized by the time the fucking Judgment Night soundtrack came out over a decade ago, and hasn't been about rap since, anyway.
  2. As long as there are 13-year-olds, there will be new NOFX fans.
  3. I smell another Gathering-type thing that never manages to come together properly. Hey, I have it the easiest, what with me not having to go anywhere.
  4. Again, no one's arguing their influence. I just think they're terrible. As for the rest of your post, keep reachin', kid. I understand you're still reeling from the Radiohead thread, but that's no reason to continue embarassing yourself.
  5. Stop pm'ing me. Thanks in advance.
  6. I'm gonna give this idiot some credit and say Run DMC were influential (not that anyone was arguing that), but so many rappers after them took their ideas and made them better.
  7. Congratulations on knowing nothing. Will Smith is pop rap; the overcompressed drums and distorted guitars of "99 Problems" are far removed from anything of the sort.
  8. They both voted Kerry a few weeks back, so I think we'll be okay.
  9. I don't see any other way around that, honestly.
  10. The guy is; the girl might be, but sometimes she has an open mind, if you know what I mean.
  11. BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAK SCRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONK
  12. The Black Album was one of last year's best records AND Jay-Z's finest album since his debut in '96.
  13. Plenty of space in the living room.
  14. Those synths make the record !
  15. Record company---->pr---->Pitchfork (though sometimes MTV picks up on it, i.e. Franz Ferdinand, the Strokes, etc.) I liked Blueberry Boat, by the way.
  16. $765 a month, which will be split three ways.
  17. But yeah, IDRM's welcome to my closet.
  18. The Arcade Fire's Funeral is a great album if you've never heard any indie rock ever.
  19. Whoa, cool. I'd suggest staying—why come back to Florida—but the cost of living in SF is insane, I hear.
  20. In the meantime, look at these floorplans: 20' x 13' is unreal. I'm moving up in the world.
  21. Where'd ya go? I wasn't aware you weren't in Florida anymore.
  22. The living room is big, too. I don't know what to make of such opulence.
  23. Has a ridiculously large closet. You guys are welcome to visit and sleep in it, if you want.
