A mild Tindersticks complaint. On Can Our Love...?, "Dying Slowly" should be following "People Keep Comin' Around," not the other way around. The bassoon (or bass clarinet I can;t tell) and the trumpet lick should be the first thing you hear when you start playing it. This really bothers me and I have to flip-flop them.

Cunt is uglier. I can cheapen nigger and the other racial epithets, but I can't take the edge off cunt. It's my absolute last line of defense in an argument with a girl and I've never broken it out.

Memphis is an awesome city, don't sully it with an Orton association. I don't care if you mean old-school heel. Orton isn't Memphis. He's Springfield, Missouri. What's Springfield, Missouri? Exactly. -
BUT NO IRISH! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're a moron. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He was just trying to do Blazing Saddles

Coldplay is as vanilla as can be Radiohead is not overrated, you are wrong. U2 circa '83-'88 is awesome stuff. They had more than "a few decent songs." In fact, they had several very very good songs, and a great cohesive album in The Joshua Tree. The Popmart/Zoo TV stuff was stupid, though, especially on the heels of the Negativland lawsuit, and the new album is vanilla like Coldplay. I don't listen to Tool As for the Mountain Goats, the songwriting is great; but John Darnielle can only take his tunes so far.

I noticed my omission of Over-Nite Sensation and "Eat That Question" immediately. Oops. And I'm such a Rhodes piano aficionado, too.

So is Kurt Angle going to morph into a human being for this event? Guy's always on the brink of becoming the white Fred Sanford in his promos these days.

for the record, I think the T.O. gimmick would be an unoutstabdable direction. Go back to having him say "it's all about the Benjamins," and stick him with some fairly-good-looking, could-pass-for-Jewish indie wrestler as his Drew Rosenhaus.

50 Cent disses Kanye and New Orleans, praises Bush
The Czech Republic replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Music
Yeah, he said how exposure, popularity and sales are all making him RUN the rap game. Only thing is exposure is paid for. Kanye has just as much exposure as 50. Talk away promos for the movie and I say Kanye is a little ahead. His popularity is definately declining, and sales, while his album is good, Tony Yayo and Young Buck have both just released albums that are on pace to go copper. I could see if you were arguing Eminem as running the rap game, seeing as he is half in charge of 50, his last album sales are right on pace with 50, and he has displayed more longevity, plus that whole "one of his albums selling 10 million" thing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is "running the rap game" like an official phrase in the parlance of F.R.BS? -
Guy has over 75 albums spanning rock, jazz, fusion, symphonic, electronic, big band, audio collage, and you can't find ONE fucking song you like? You're not trying. Freak Out! - You're Probably Wondering Why I'm Here, Trouble Every Day Absolutely Free - Brown Shoes Don't Make It We're Only . . . - Concentration Moon, Mom and Dad Uncle Meat - King Kong VI: The Underwood Ramifications Hot Rats - all of it Burnt Weeny Sandwich - The Little House I Used To Live In Weasels Ripped My Flesh - Oh No, The Orange County Lumber Truck Waka/Jawaka - Big Swifty, title track The Grand Wazoo - title track Studio Tan - Revised Music For Guitar & Low-Budget Orchestra, RDNZL Sheik Yerbouti - Bobby Brown Goes Down, Jewish Princess, Wild Love Joe's Garage - Watermelon In Easter Hay Mothers of Prevention - What's New In Baltimore?, Porn Wars Jazz From Hell - Night School Broadway the Hard Way - Any Kind Of Pain, Outside Now, Jesus Thinks You're A Jerk The Yellow Shark - G-Spot Tornado and that's just off the top of my head in two minutes. You can't find something you like off that list, you fucking suck, there's no way around it. Seriously go on AIM I'll send you anything you want from my collection

Weezer's not BAD, per se, just like Cheap Trick isn't bad. But man, the hype they get is wholly unwarranted. The case for Weezer is just "Blue Album, Pinkerton, Blue Album, Pinkerton, Blue Album, Pinkerton, Blue Album, Pinkerton, Blue Album, Pinkerton, hooks!" Personally, I don't even think those two are that good. The following three albums aren't good at all and everyone freely admits it. Rivers Cuomo is horribly overrated as a lyricist, and every guitar solo follows the vocal part practically note-for-note, it seems. The rest of the band beyond Cuomo is negligible. There's always a bunch of them standing in a row on the covers with that stupid deer-in-headlights look, but damned if I care who their revolving-door rhythm section is. They're not doing anything that isn't being done better.

My first was Sheik Yerbouti, and man I love that one. A superior 1979 release to Joe's Garage. ok we need to bump an old Zappa thread BACK ON TOPIC: A band I do not get the hype for is Modest Mouse

http://www.rykodisc.com keepers of the Zappa back catalogue Barnes & Noble and Borders have it all too, and a discount if you're a member. As for Joe's, it's one of his few mass-appeal ones, it appears. However, I just can't get into it. It's a bit long, and FZ admits it's ridiculous stuff. The Central Scrutinizer gets old. Strangely, amidst appliance-fucking, groupie-fucking, and personal freedoms-fucking, "Watermelon In Easter Hay" and "Outside Now" are two of his most beautiful songs. Interesting time signatures, too: alternating 4/4 and 5/4, and 11/4.
