There's a point where you are kidding, and there is a point where you are being an irritating troll. It's not a hard line to see, but you've crossed it, whether you like it or not, and it's pissin' people off. Detroit, imho, will take at least 2 games. I can't possibly see them ending this quickly with the amount of hussle and heart that Detroit has, plus arguably the scariest defense in years should keep this a really competitive series. Lakers in 6 or 7, or Detroit in 7 are the only outcomes I see.

So Johnson, long time no see.

You know, the Pistons felt like missing all those shots last night so they could make the game interesting.

Preview of whats to come in 'Farenheit 911'
Justice replied to edotherocket's topic in Television & Film
Check this out... And frankly, Moore's entire style is gimmicky and old now. It worked for Roger and Me because it was new, but it got irritating in BFC, and he just comes off as the dick he is. But hey, on the documentaries... maybe something good did come out of BFC for you. I truly envy you. -

First off, even when I was one of the more liberal people on the CE Board (Tyler and maybe Marney might remember me being a bit different when I first came here), I STILL didn't like BFC. It was crap because it was inconsistant. It never stays long enough with a subject to give you anything more than an over-generalization of whatever was going on. We go from T.V. violence to Racial violence to gun statistics to ICBMs to "Corporate COPS" and other stuff that, while looking cool, didn't give you much of a picture. It was just overflashy and lacking any substance. I watched this with my bro and it took over a half-hour of what seemed like meaningless stuff to get to anything really related to Columbine. Even its documentary status is incredibly questionable, especially with the pseudo-South Park representation of the relationship with the NRA and the KKK (Which, hey, turns out to be grossly inaccurate! Imagine that!). I argued with my roommate (A Flint boy and a true fan-boy) and the only way he could defend it is "It's comedy! It's not supposed to be serious! He's just having fun!" to which my reply was "... Except that he's claiming this is a documentary and rattling off grossly misleading facts. What about that?" "It's not a documentary..." "Then why did it win the Oscar for 'Best Documentary'?" "..." Yeah. Anyways, probably the most accurate dissent against BFC is here. I still can't believe how he pretty much completely lied about the Flint Shooting and the NRA's "quick" reaction. And by the by, I did like Roger and Me. But he's just gone off the deep end since then... -
The Government should really start hiring bullies to beat the fuck out of these weiners.

See, I have to laugh at the first response because the charge is still true; he has raised taxes on gas by 50 cents. Even if it adds up over time, it's still true. You have a better argument for the second one, but even then he still voted against what passed the Senate (The vote was 87-12, I believe, too; pretty bi-partisan, eh?), even though he supported a failed version that would have repealed the tax cuts. It's all his fault; he voted against it trying to get his name out as someone who would fight against Bush, but he did it on a pretty bi-partisan bill and one that, well, was pretty vital to our troops. It's basically a publicity stunt that bit him right in the ass and he deserves. And technically, Mike is right one Cheney: What the VP does really doesn't mean shit if it isn't the President. Unlike all the political junkies on this board, your average voter doesn't vote for a ticket because of the VP, comparing Kerry to Cheney is pretty invalid when it comes to relevance. You act like this is the "Tank Ride" ad from Dukakis, dude, when it's just Kerry's record coming back to kill him. This is why we haven't had a Senator win since JFK: Senators compromise on everything, which makes them look very weak on just about every issue. If you want to be President, you go through the route where you can stand true to your beliefs, like the Executive. At least, that's what I've learned from my professors.

Um, it wouldn't be a decision, that's how a draft works... Go easy on him; he still is having a hard time grasping things like facts and the like... Secondly... Am I the only one who thinks that thought is incomplete?

Fallujah Residents Beginning to Really Hate Us

And when you take away the Kurds, that number goes significantly down. And Cartman, I like your ideas and wish to subscribe to your newsletter. Not... really. CNN did a pretty good story a while back on this, actually. Once again, the press keeps showing us the same areas and the same problems over and over, which continually amplify the problem over there to humongous proportions. You know, this may be me talking while liquored up, but I'm quite sure I'm right on this one. Edit: And the fact that you said you actually like cartman's ideas instantly takes all credibility from your argument. That'd be like me pimping Rob Johnstone; when one wants to look, you know, sane, you just don't do it. It's funny because I'm drunk and I still remember these rules... -
But... there's no real proof that it's "100% legit" as you say, other than you getting questioned by the people who published it. See the point here?

Fallujah Residents Beginning to Really Hate Us

See, the funniest thing about it is... A pretty sizeable majority of Iraqis believe this was the right thing to do, and they believe that the country will be better off because of it. Growing pains, yes, but right after our own revolution we nearly fell to pieces under the AoC. People just don't tend to discuss that. Hell, we were pretty hazy up until the War of 1812... -
Um, no offense, but you asking the reporters printing it... isn't that like asking if Stalin was purging people and him replying "Oh no" and believing him?

To be honest, Purple Hearts can go from life-threatening injuries to small scratches. 3 Purple Hearts are only things of circumstance, not of leadership. Personally, though, I found how he got his Silver Stars to be one of the weirdest stories I've ever heard...

...WTF?!

... Not really, no. Dumb question, eh?

You're missing the point. The government told us that this Act was to be used against terrorists, would protect us against terrorists, etc. This guy isn't Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, or Islamic Jihad. But you are missing the point that the power is still limited (Didn't you see it said "Money Laundering" in there?) and it is being used for very good reason. Political bribery and corruption is something that I don't mind seeing the Patroit Act beign used for for; terrorism is undue influence on the government by people through illegal means. Bribery is illegal means and it's influencing the government. That's a decent explanation right there. It still can't be used against normal Americans without a Judge saying it's alright and an extraordinaire crime (Money Laundering isn't something everyone can do, it's a pretty high up crime) being committed. What's the problem? And not only that, but why do all the liberals on this board have such a narrow-minded way of looking at everything? Seriously, if something does more than what it was said to do, for better or for worse, it is evil and must be stopped. What the hell is up with that?

I don't know every case, since I'm not exactly as dedicated to it's downfall as moveon.org or something, but I do know it was used in an investigation of a Las Vegas strip club owner, an event I remember seeing in their local news when I was planning my Feburary trip. The guy has no ties to terrorism whatsoever, and it's use was later criticized. Um... so you don't mind that the guy is being investigated for some pretty serious political corruption charges? If this helps the investigation and gets corrupt officials out of office, isn't this something good? And why does this seem like something that can be widely used on the normal American Citizen?
-
Isn't that the entire point? I mean, everyone is crying foul because everyone says that Cheney gave them the contract, remember? Actually, he sold all their stock from the company and gets a fixed income from them no matter how well or bad they do. They can't cut that off, either, so they literally have no control over him. Remember he had to do this to become V.P?

Oh fuck off. We have better equipment, better staff, and better facilities; that's just an example of how Canada's system is underequiped. Why do you think that they come here for surgery and other important medical procedures?
-
But you do see tons of Canadians going to America for surgery and other services. A neat "Did you know": Did you know that the University of Michigan has more MRI (I think that's the one) machines than all of Canada? Nice job, boys...
-
Why should it hurt us in Iraq? There is no connection to Iraq and terrorists, remember?

"Hate is my anti-drug."

Don't forget the 10,000 + Iraqi's that have been killed..there again they don't count I guess. Before the situation in Iraq is resolved the coalition forces death toll is going ot be MUCH higher than 500. Uh, over a million Vietnamese died in the Vietnam War. I mean, seriously, there is no comparision for it. I mean, when we get into civi casualties, your case gets even worse because of the disparity in numbers.
-
I'd say that's a pretty fair assessment. People who continually compare it to Vietnam have no idea what the fuck Vietnam truly was.
