  1. Skipper/Daniels is good psychology-wise...but that's it. Boring match from two that have proven they're capable of more.
  2. And people unfamiliar with the series will be left wondering what ROTLD 4 and 5 have to do with ROTLD 3. Or they'll just realize that horror sequels very rarely carry much over from the original aside from maybe the main villain(s). Since they'll be watching Day and ROTLD 3, they'll know this, so I don't even know why I brought it up.
  3. And that's a very good way to look at it, too. In fact, that's a good way to look at most submission holds: when they first put it on, you can break out of it if you struggle enough and know how to get out, but once they clamp it down as tight as they can, you're fucked. Angle falling down and wrapping his legs around his opponent's with the Anklelock on has definitely been put over as "okay, this guy's fucked," so why not do the same for when Joe applies the body scissors for the Kokina Clutch?
  4. Better than the last Shakira video, anyway, if only because nobody's getting raped doggy-style while trying to cook dinner and then covering themselves in motor oil and dancing like a robotic zombie.
  5. Apparently, The Man with the Screaming Brain has been sorta in the works since right around the time Evil Dead II was made, because Bruce and some of his friends were kicking around the idea of a man with half a brain of a capitalist American, and the other half of a communist Russian, and he'd try to balance everything out. Their way of talking about how communism and capitalism were starting to come together towards the end of the Cold War, or something. And the ROTLD sequels better be at least watchable and not COMPLETELY edited to shit on Sci-Fi.
  6. But seriously, Devine is one of the better ones. I just think Williams is better. Unless you're counting off for his Sharpshooter. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've never cared for Williams. Seriously. Read the old Lazarush TNA reviews, because whenever I did one for a Williams match, I blasted him for botching half of his spots. Yes, he's improved by far, but I still find the man to be pretty boring, and my hatred for the Canadian Destroyer is pretty well-known to the TNA folder regs. And, aside from that...I haven't seen much from him to make him stand out. Devine at least has a superstar look, carries himself in the ring like a true professional, and has great timing from the little TNA work I've seen him involved in. The one thing I ever held against him during the whole X-Cup series was that he was, by no means, an X-Division wrestler, considering his one highspot was the Frog Splash/Moonsault combo, and that was his finish. Everything else was a ground game, and I'm still of the belief that the X-Division is about some sort of innovation, and that every match should feature something you either haven't seen before or won't see almost anywhere else in the States (which is why Samoa Joe is actually a good fit, because he's a big guy that gets some sky when he does his running highkicks, and the way he can link submission and high-impact moves is pretty innovative).
  7. And you figured out wrong due to brand-exclusive PPVs.
  8. Devine = best member of Team Canada.
  9. I disagree with Joe saying NOBODY should EVER make the ropes. Should they even come close to making the ropes if he locks it on in the middle of the ring to, say, Shark Boy or Eric Young? No chance. But if he locks it on Daniels or Styles or anybody that's put over as being a very solid technical wrestler (not including Styles, as he's just put over as being an amazing athlete that loves to fly, though he's not bad on the mat at all), they should be able to at least make an attempt at escaping/countering before they tap. I'm not saying drag it out like WWE does with EVERY submission finish, but have, say, 25 seconds of struggle with the opponent almost breaking it/making the ropes for BIG matches, and then Joe cinches it in fully.
  10. Queef.
  11. I can't see TNA not eventually putting the World title on Joe if he stays there long enough. Because, in a year's time, the World title scene will probably have changed a little bit (hopefully, and this is a BIG HOPEFULLY, Ron Killings will have gotten back into the title picture, ditto Styles), and I highly doubt that Raven, of all people, wouldn't be willing to do some sick bumps to get a guy with talent over. Jarrett? Yeah, wouldn't be up for the stiffness and big bumps, but mostly because he likely can't dish it back out to Joe. Raven? Ummm, his career was MADE off of hardcore brawling involving a few big bumps per match, so I doubt he wouldn't take on Joe. Rhino? There'd be concern about his neck, but see "Raven." Who else is there in the World title scene? I could see Styles, Daniels, and hopefully Killings getting into it within a year's time, and I doubt Killings wouldn't at least bump for Joe, so yeah. Plus, isn't Joe one of the guys that works stiff but doesn't hit hard anywhere on somebody that would cause injury?
  12. Only one person has, and we already got on his case for it. My hatred for Otep runs deep, as not only is she hyped as some sort of amazing poet when her lyrics are fucking terrible and something a doped-up angry 14-year-old would write, but the music itself is cringe-inducing. That, and a few people that I really fucking hate love Otep.
  13. It's free. And I actually didn't go in with much of an expectation, simply because I knew that if I went in thinking "hey, a lot of people hyped the fuck out of this match, so it MUST be good," I wouldn't enjoy it. I DID enjoy it, I just wasn't that enthusiastic about the overall lack of action in it. It's a long match, roughly 15 minutes or so, maybe more, and 12 of those minutes is Joe owning Sabin's ass. While I do love that Joe is being pushed in TNA, since he IS a great talent, giving Sabin little offense was a poor decision, IMO. My favorite matches involving Joe have been with the same dynamic, big strong man vs. small fast man, most notably the feud with LowKi in RoH in '02, and though it's not the same dynamic, the matches vs. AJ Styles in RoH (most specifically at War of the Wire) and vs. Homicide. The thing I loved about these matches? It was obvious Joe had the strength and overall toughness advantage over each of these men. But they had speed, agility, and some good gameplans to use so they could at least have a shot at winning. Joe/Sabin, while definitely a good match, put Joe over and, I feel, actually took away some of Sabin's heat. The big positives to the match are that they didn't rely on INSANE highspots galore to get the fans into it, and the few highspots they did do (mostly the Muscle Buster and Sabin's top-rope moves and his topé) popped the crowd more than your average TNA spotfest does with moves that are astounding to watch. Joe definitely has a great future in TNA, and maybe WWE one day, and I have no doubt he'll be a main eventer in either/both promotions in 10 years time, having held both companies' top belts and having wins over their top stars. He has THAT MUCH raw talent in him. But this match didn't show how well he could truly work, and in a sense...that actually helped the match while also hurting it. Because by Joe destroying Sabin, but not in the typical "grrr, me pick you up and slam you" big man way, it gets it over that he's a WRESTLER first, a MONSTER later. Even his nickname in TNA right, the Samoan Submission Machine, is something I dig. I dig everything about the character in TNA right now, from the entrance (walking slowly, staring at the ring, a towel around his neck) to the fact that he only showboats before the Facewash...I love it. He worked on Sabin's neck for a good portion of the mathc, and the spot where he turned the STF into a Crippler Crossface and then into an armbar was sick and I'd like to see it become part of his regular arsenal. Final rating: Good match, ***1/4, but overrated slightly.
  14. Zarock, so far almost every Puerto Rican wrestler has been nothing but weak punch/kick and some blading here and there. Just an FYI.
  15. I watched Sabin/Joe. It's overrated. Good match, but not "OMG AWESOME~!" like everybody made it out to be.
  16. I've seen the first two (thanks to the same service, no less), but from all accounts Joe/Sabin is one of the best matches in TNA's history, and one of the best matches so far this year outside of RoH, so yeah. I didn't even know it was on the list, so I'm gonna watch it when I get home from work.
  17. No, he meant if there was ever an interest in Ortiz from McMahonland.
  18. Renegade...stop fucking shit up! "Tulip" and "up" DO NOT RHYME!!! GAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAH~!!~!~!~!~!1 **murder** Wadup?
  19. That's okay, Otep isn't metal either. I can't believe that bitch calls her stuff poetry...because it's one step below Limp Bizkit. Seriously. When Fred Durst can write a better song about ANYTHING than you can, you should call it quits. Well, I'm not too into the gothic metal stuff, but give Theatre of Tragedy a try if you're into it. The earlier stuff is heavy, slow, and soothing while brutal, but they're more recent work is a lot more dance-y.
  20. Ultimately, I think they're doomed to, if only because of the fact that they're going to try to make it into a corporation instead of a wrestling promotion. That's the reason the WWF/WWE was successful: one man, Vince, always had the final say. It was the cause of their rise and their drop in popularity, because it was one man deciding which ideas were good, were bad, were so-bad-they're-good, and painful (like much of Russo and Ferrera's ideas, as shown in WCW). Wrestling needs the unpredictability factor back into it. That's one of the other reasons why people loved ECW, Mike: it was one of the only promotions where you actually DIDN'T know what was going to happen each show. You'd have a vague idea - "oh, Balls is going to get into a garbage brawl, New Jack is going to kill some jobbers with a staplegun, Dreamer is going to break his back even more, and Corino will be proud of the fact that he's not a hemophiliac" - but you didn't know EXACTLY what was going on. Of course, you'll reply to that with "I knew what was going on because ECW was predictable in their unpredictability," but that's because you're an asshole, and that's why I like you.
  21. Opposing Raw with UFC as soon as the network jump occurs might be a bad idea...but then again, everybody thought airing Nitro head-to-head with Raw was a bad idea, and look how that turned out...for the first 3 and a half years... Might be a better idea to move The Ultimate Fighter back an hour to 10, and have the Impact replay air at 11 Monday nights. That way, they can advertise on Raw RIGHT NOW that when they're done watching The Ultimate Fighter and Raw (channel-surfing, bitches), they can watch Impact. Might be the best way to get the current "mark" audience in, and then eventually (keyword: EVENTUALLY, as in when TNA starts making profits and touring) go head-to-head with the last hour of Raw.
  22. ...c'mon, C'mon, C'MON...let's get it on! Move to the music, play that fucking music, move it to the music, yeah (let's get it on)! Move to my music, play my fucking music...move to my music, YEAAAAAH!!!!
  23. He meant the ramps that they currently use, where it's on an incline and ends before the ringside area. However, personally, I'm a big fan of raised entrance ramps, and I don't know why.
  24. ...why would it be great? Have they put out games before? Who would they get to develop it? Would they advertise it thoroughly and not to the point of excessiveness?
