This Must Be The Place is definitely in the top five greatest songs they ever did. One of the best love songs of the eighties.

Remain In Light is generally considered their masterpiece. If you like the sound of that album, go to Fear Of Music and Speaking In Tongues. If you prefer their earlier, more sparse sound, you can't go wrong with More Songs About Buildings And Food.

This is so insanely wrong that I don't even know where to begin. The Velvet Underground fused early doo-wop music, modern classical, chamber music, avant garde jazz, AM pop, garage rock, and so much more, and they showed a versatility beyond almost any other rock band in history. Garage rockers like I'm Waiting For The Man and White Light/White Heat, some of the catchiest pop rock singles ever like Rock N' Roll and Sweet Jane, wild noisey guitar workouts like I Heard Her Call My Name and Sister Ray, gloomy pop songs like Sunday Morning, gospel influences on a lot of their third album, and I could go on all day. Just acid rock. Ridiculous.

Overrated hack who wrote laughably horrible poetry. The band could put out some halfway decent jammy jazz-blues stuff at times, though.

For all the hype and praise it gets/got, I found Fargo to be extremely underwhelming. Maybe somebody here can try to explain to me what I missed, because I just don't see a great movie in there.

I find this describes Palahniuk's Invisible Monsters very well. It's the only one of his books I've read that I didn't enjoy at all.

I agree with Kotz. Although I do enjoy Palahniuk's work, he's overrated, and Vonnegut is my favorite author ever.
