Another GC title: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/e3_2006/gc/0...ario/img/01.jpg Super Paper Mario™ Format: Nintendo GameCube™ Launch Date: Q4 2006 ESRB: RP (Rating Pending) Game Type: 2-D/3-D Sidescrolling Platformer with Role-Playing Elements Players: 1 Developer: Intelligent Systems KEY INFORMATION: The newest chapter of the Paper Mario story isn’t just out of this world … it’s out of this dimension. • What at first glance appears to be a 2-D sidescroller ripped straight from the pages of the Paper Mario universe soon turns into a 3-D action-adventure that defies all video game logic. Fusing 2-D and 3-D perspectives, not to mention RPG and platformer elements, the game slips back and forth between dimensions. The action sprawls across eight worlds filled with traps, puzzles, bizarre mysteries and items that often draw themselves out of thin air. • Oh, and just because Mario’s in the title doesn’t mean he’s the only star – players also get to play as Peach and Bowser. The Wii is indeed "wee" (in the size sense): http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b55/Dant...cs/6185defd.jpg

"In terms of the N64 games, I imagine any of the C buttons could be reproduced with flicks up, down, left, or right of the right analog stick." I was thinking that, because that's what the emulated N64 Zeldas did on LoZCE and OOT+MQ, but the C-stick had intentionally been a bit more limited than the analog stick. Besides, for games that require you to use them a lot, it might not gel so well. For example, you'd have to totally remap No Mercy. However, I have an N64 with the best titles anyway, so that's no biggie. "I said I wasn't going to get a 360. I lied." Taking after Sony? Oh, remember folks--E3 hasn't actually officially began. These are just press conferences.

"SHELL" CONTROLLER!!! http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/e3_2006/wii/...oto_classic.jpg I love it. A real D-pad, not a nigh-vestigal POS like GC's. An SNES-style layout, to boot. Obviously, it and the Wiimote will fit NES games like a glove, as well as SNES titles. For N64, it won't work as well (I was hoping for 6 face buttons), but you still have 6 "normal" buttons, and does it look like there are two inner triggers there, too? I guess I'll be heading up to EB later to change my preorder from TP GC to TP Wii.... T-- Oh noes, that lends itself even more so to toilet humor.

"When we announced the PlayStation price, it was said to be expensive." - Ken K. Which is total bullshit, because they stepped up to the podium, said "$299," and people went nuts over it.
-
A Twilight Princess for Wii? Damnit, Nintendo. Do you have any idea how long ago I preordered that? So they didn't break their promise about a GC version, but that's rather silly. Have they unveiled the "shell" controller? Since I was going to buy the Wii and TP anyway, I want to make sure I'll have the option of "traditional" controls with it.

I honestly don't expect that big a jump in graphics. There's been very few big-profile releases this gen that I've had major gripes about graphically. Okay, clipping is ugly and annoying, but TUS who still have that (I'm looking at you Yukes) may still half-ass it. The biggest promise of this gen is smarter and more sophisticated AI, as well as the ability to more worlds and more enemies in real time. PS3 will still be okay in Japan, but 360's going to take a big bite out of them this gen (and Wii is still an unproven wild card). Right now Sony seems to have its penis flapping in the wind, though. So what was that "4D" thing about, anyway?

Sony will supposedly have real, playable games running on final development kits on Wednesday. So they'd best have a huge surprise available then. This "it's realtime, seriously!" garbage isn't flying. I'm glad to see a lot of people have smartened up about it this time.
-
The funniest part is that, Sony can crow about how the "next gen" hasn't started without them, but everyone knows that the PS3 is still in the same ballpark power-wise as the 360. MS needs to get off their ass and demonstrate, though. I'll pass on a PS3 for a few years, I think.
-
Yeah, with a few seconds of gameplay footage. It looks basically like a souped up DR, nothing like last year's teaser (which surprises absolutely nobody with a shred of common sense). I don't know of any site that's uploaded footage from it yet.
-
So, in summary, $500 nets you a console with no removable memory support, 1/3 of the HD space, no hi-def support, no wireless controller support. Or for the same cost, likely less by that time, you can get a 360 premium pack, with a better online service, and (by that time) a rich game library.

Thanks, although I had already seen that comic. I've hated those furry bastards the very moment I first saw them. BTW, E3 for a new console gen = gaming geek NFL draft.
-
BTW, is portable gaming "out of the ghetto" yet? If so, why are there insulting racial stereotypes in animated squirrel form begging me to buy a PSP?
-
After the smoke and mirrors of PS2, people basically declared the DC dead preemptively, and so it did come to pass. They need to, because they're losing money in every single other division they have going. "Sony WAS good for gaming, they provided a solid alternative. They aren't anymore, they're too far up their own asses. Did you see Kutaragi's expression and posture when he unveiled that "incredibly innovative" controller? I was just praying some brave journalist (or Reggie) would leap onto the stage and tackle him." Ken has always been a smug bastard. It's not a gaming console! You will need an extra job to buy it! We're going to revolutionize home entertainment with it--movies, music, gaming, etc.! Anyway, it's not going to affect us until next year, so big whoop. No, November isn't the launch, because if Sony is lucky they'll have 2 million units available for the entire planet. So you're going to need to save up money, and work on your right hook to get a PS3 before 2007. Show us the games, Sony. Not pretty footage, either, something playable.

"People thought PS2 was going to be a disaster" -- who? Invictus: Okay, maybe I didn't read the chart right, but I'm a fast learner.
-
Are you sure? It was announced from like the very beginning that PS3 would use memory sticks, so that seems surprising. I checked the spec sheet, and it seems the only place they are making a distinction between the 20 GB and 60 GB models are the right side in white. There, they definitely mention the HDMI, but on the left side they just list "I/O" for that. I'm not sure you're reading the chart correctly, but I'll admit I find it a bit confusing myself. EDIT: Okay, I see the "-" next to 20 GB. Okay, I don't know how to read a spec chart, so sue me. So it appears that neither model supports PS1 memory cards or PS2 memory cards.
-
Newsflash: Sony lies. They lied about E3 not being when they'd announce the price, too.
-
PS3 uses memory sticks like PSP, not memory cards like PS1/PS2.
-
Wasn't Sony crowing about not having two different models to confuse consumers? $500 is the cheaper version? WTF?!
-
Have you played Tekken with it? Even so, like that's a big deal to you, Ms. Arcade Dweller.
-
There's not going to be just FFXIII, but it's going to be in 3 parts, with 3 different games. .FinalFantasy 13 : The Search For More Money
-
Ghey. The boomerang looked much more comfortable. I guess it's safe to say that Sony, as market leader for 2 console gens in a row, is ridiculously complacent.
-
Tilt sensor means nothing. It ain't the same. I'm sure Nintendo has patents out the whazzang on that thing. What did they change the PS3 controller to? The boomerang was fine.
-
How do you know Ken is lying? His lips are moving. I doubt it will be 500 bucks.
-
Those of us not watching don't get it. Flaccid Snake would work.
