  1. Wow, I was wondering how he could top the crappiness of Down to Earth. Trying to imagine Ozzy covering some of those songs are pure hilarity. Duet album with Shatner next?
  2. In Sonic Advance 3, there's qute a few new gadgets and so forth and huge levels. However, the multiple paths don't seem to be in here. The controll is way too tight, so you can't pick up speed as easily or move as fast it seems. Plus, Knuckles sucks. I just got him and he has NO glide--just this stupid looking flying headbutt. He CAN'T climb walls either. Oh, but he can punch. Big whoop. Each zone has a main hub where you can select the act (I think you only need to complete 2/3 to proceed to the boss, though) in any order, play a minigame when available, switch characters or zones, kind of like Kirby. Level design could be better. It has several of those annoying areas where you could collide into an enemy or land on spikes, then lose your rings through no fault of your own. The classic Sonic games allowed you to basically never lose your rings if you were good enough--not quite the case here. Oh, and you can find Chao hidden in the levels, which is annoying since they're so big and backtrapping is a pain in the BUTT. I have no idea what finding them nets you. Probably Shadow the Hedgehog blows hard. It's due out in less than a week, but there's no playable demo, in-depth previews or reviews available.
  3. It was pretty cool to see Goat on both shows (Megas XLR and Downtown). What exactly is their new project anyway? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nothing announced yet of the sort--wishful thinking on my part at this point. It's like at any given time, AS can only have one original series that's a full half hour and with decent animation.
  4. Boondocks was way better than I ever expected. Hopefully it'll remain the same quality or better. Plus, it kept the n-word to a minimum. Minoriteam should be given a Rodney-King style beating, then deportment. "I chuckled at Racist Frankenstein, but that was it." Okay, I'll conceed that. It's just a bizaare non-sequitor that seems like a Conan O'Brien character. I like(d) Super Milk Chan, and while it could get rather repetitive (several of the same gags all over again, although with a different gimmick per ep sometimes), it didn't try *too* hard like Bobobo tends to do. "I would kill for more Megas. Throw in some mild swearing and you got a new headliner on Saturday nights. Too bad it got canned." I'm a huge Megas fan--I have the figurine even, and have most of the eps on tape. I'm hoping the rumored DVD set of it comes out, damnit, then I can own the whole series. Hopefully the Megas folks don't get screwed over on their next project like CN did to them with MXLR or MTV did to them with Downtown (the reason they had PoPTV get its signs and buildings obliterated in nearly every ep).
  5. It's out, I've played a good bit of it and probably will purchase it. However, the lack of real platforming hurts it. So you've got this great battle system, the cool use of the Innocent Devils, the addition of many SotN elements to 3D, great music, excellent controls, and unfortunately dull/repetitive level designs. So, despite some camera/control issues, I still like Legacy of Darkness more, but it's still a fine game well worth picking up.
  6. And about a month or so ago you said that a FFVII remake would be pointless and stupid. (In an IM convo, though.) Valid points for it being the greatest game ever? Not really.
  7. Our list is still better. Yeah you can. Presentation wise, it was something not really seen in a console RPG. So what? The gameplay was old hat.
  8. I didn't really give any of the X-Men games on Genesis a fair shake--I was burned by too many non-Konami licensed games by that point. Passing on Bloodlines was a mistake, but never playing it since is even a bigger mistake. It's a great game even today, although easy by the NES game standards. Thankfully there's a password feature. There's some amazing boss fights, too. I recommend giving it a shot.
  9. It was a critical success, anyway. And Sonic 3 didn't really do poorly, it just didn't do quite as fantastic as the first two games did. However, S&K looked kind of lame coming out about the same time as DKC. Still, Knux in Sonic 2 is still very cool, and I'm glad they were able to do it. Plus, I played a good bit of the Knux in Sonic 1 ROM, and its darn fun as well.
  10. WWE writers are masters of wit and subtlety.
  11. I had gotten Sonic Advance 3 at a pawn ship recently. I'll give it another zone or so and post my thoughts on it. It's hard to overstate how important Sonic was to Sega in the 16-bit days. Both 1 and 2 were superb games.
  12. Holy crap, these were some BAD tentative 360 designs... http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=c...d=1527&Itemid=2 I kind of like the next to last one, though. It reminds me a little of the Sega Neptune: http://darkwatcher.psxfanatics.com/console...0expo%20069.jpg
  13. Earthbound 2 / Mother 3 is in the works...in GBA form! http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3145451
  14. Hey, BoBoBo-Bo-Bo-BoBo is cool! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Agreed. I miss JLU as much as the next person, but insulting that show that replaced it isn't really fair. That being said, these delays are quite annoying. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I like Bo x 7, although it's hit or miss at times. However, the complaints are somewhat misplaced when utter crap like Squidbillies and 12 oz mouse is on CN (12OM makes me almost miss Tom Goes To the Mayor). Couldn't they cut down on the 500 showings of Teen Titans during the week to show some JL/JLU eps? Or to show MegasXLR at some point? I had zero interest in the Boondocks show, but considering that the animation looks pretty darn good, I may need to check it out if the writing turns out half-decent. AS needs a kick in the ass during the week. You got late night anime on Thursdays, sure, but during most of the week, give me Jetix on Toon Disney instead. You've got The Tick, Spider-Man, and X-Men, although Gargoyles isn't shown in that spot anymore. Of course, W.I.T.C.H. still has (uuuuggghh) Code Lyoko beat no sweat. Seeing The Tick makes me wonder when those new Venture Bros. episodes are coming...
  15. Ahem...it's been done. http://www.bluewyrm.com/legend/ That's the closest to a Zelda movie we'll ever need. It's awesome. Buy the Ultimate Edition DVD with the theatrical and DC versions.

Finally saw the commercial with the fighters. It's set to a cover of "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and features clips from... VF2 (looks like Genesis one) Tomb Raider somethingorother Kung Fu (I think, NES) Eternal Champions Beyond Good and Evil (?) Comix Zone Golden Axe, I think Cosmic Carnage RPG that I think may be a Xenogears battle Alien Soldier Streets of Rage 2
  17. Curse of Darkness is out--and pretty darn good, much better than LoI. Stupid little flash animation: http://www.ozero.ca/oz-castlevania.swf
  18. Agreed--the videos without them are a rip, although of course most of the time it's just that they don't have the rights to show the videos anymore. What time is this on? I believe I saw BUTT o Ween on Sunday.
  19. Coming to the US February 27th--yeeees!!
  20. from 1up.com, some new US release dates: GCN Chibi Robo (2/6), Odama (3/6) GBA Drill Dozer, (2/6) Tales of Phantasia (3/6) DS Electroplankton (1/9), True Swing Golf (1/23), Super Princess Peach (2/27), Metroid Prime Hunters (3/20) So Tales of Phantasia finally comes to the US, like a decade since the original Super Famicom release. Ah well.
  21. You're a fool. Anderson's mediocre video game movies turned out relatively well because they (MK, Resident Evil) were based on schlock in the first place. This will be Van Helsing, but stupider. W.S. Anderson is by no means a good director. It's pushing it to call him average. I mean, he's not even as good as Ratner, and *maybe* is on par with McG. Yeah, he isn't Boll, but have we set our sights so low that WS making a movie based on a game is acceptable?! I'll take even the Bible-quoting, "have at you!" Dracula over Roxborough. VH was directed by a guy who allegedly had lots of love for the Universal monsters, but was completely and utterly clueless about what made those movies work. It wasn't cgi and big stupid action scenes, after all. Cornell should be the hero--he's already got it in him to kill Dracula.... I wouldn't mind them hiring some of the folks who designed the sets/outfits/etc though from VH, cuz that stuff was pretty good at least.
  22. A friend wants to know if he should be able to make a good creation for this guy:
  23. I hated Virtual Bart, but it was somewhat playable at least--some stages were pretty good...then you had that damn pig Bart level. Bart and the Beanstalk = ugh. Simpsons Wrestling is worse than you probably can imagine without playing it. Krusty's Super Fun House I flat out hated in every way. I hated it more than any Simpsons game except Bart and the Beanstalk. Hit and Run and Road Rage were okay, as was the old arcade game.
