  1. One of the few games on there I haven't played much... Forgotten Worlds' crappy dubbing and bad translation rocks. "I'll burn him with my aura!" I beat the game with a friend. ABOBO: Don't forget that there's that Peach platformer, too. Well, they were kind of cheesy, and SFA also introduced chain combos to a "real" SF game (although they were gone by A2, replaced with perhaps the even cheesier customs).
  2. I'm surprised T3 is the best selling Tekken. However, thinking about it, used copies of it are cheaper and more plentiful than T1 or T2. Isn't Tekken 4 supposed to be critically and financially the biggest disappointment? Tekken 5 will make money over time, but the tremendous "ho-hum--another friggin' Tekken?" from the gaming community makes me expect poor debut sales. If those are all US figures, they're misleading, though. Deadly Alliance certainly didn't rake in the Japanese sales, while Tekken 3 probably did well worldwide as well as Japan. It seems that the only Tekken-related thing to garner much mainstream attention has been the extreme closeups of Jin's sabaceous glands on the PS3 demos. Ita needs to put a poly model of himself in DoA4 and do the same. Marvel vs Capcom 2's PS2 and X-Box sales are probably relatively low, since it appears there was a relatively limited number of copies made. Capcom Fighting Evolution obviously had sales as crappy as the game itself, right? Deception seems to have sold like crap. You can find brand new copies literally at nearly every department store. They're littering the inventory of EB/Gamestop with quite a few used copies that don't seem to be moving. No GH status when games newer than it I believe have already gone GH. I picked up Dawn of Sorrow, which appears to have been released early. I can't friggin' wait until Saturday--I'll get my paycheck Friday and then I can get a DS to play it on (FYI, I'm holding out to see if I can't find anyplace that has a DS with Mario 64 free. If not, I'm hitting the nearest Best Buy for the system.
  3. Unless Nic legally changed his name, the kid should be Kal-el Coppola, actually. He'll likely end up just being called Kal, though.
  4. Thanks for the heads up, ABOBO. I'm still patiently awaiting my portable Chrono Trigger, though. Crazy collectors... El Luchadore Magnifico: Okay, I don't know why he was babbling about the Hylian Loach, but that was cute.
  5. ...but..."El" would be the Kryptonian family name...should have just made it "Kal." Superman II was on A&E last night--even cheesier than I remembered.
  6. He sold that whole thing like a cut-rate, bargain bin Bischoff. And I agree completely. Douglas' clueless announcer schtick is hard for me to buy. It helped put over the six sided ring to me, at least. Yeah, he acts goofy as hell but was still a fun little squash. Oh, I noticed. I'm somewhat glad I turned the TV off shortly after Jarrett's promo began. I wouldn't be able to stomach the first full-length TNA show I'd been able to witness ending with Kevin ****ing Nash. Definitely agree. Everything looks a lot more professional--hell, more than a lot of SDs I've seen even.
  7. GTA with a famous rapper cut and pasted in?
  8. Sean Mooney!?
  9. Ah yes, the moment when we first began to realize WWE would **** up the InVasion big time. Great choice.
  10. Really crappy job covering up the scratch logo.
  11. Sean Mooney!?
  12. Even after, like a half dozen Sonic compilations, Sega didn't/wouldn't bother giving it to us...but finally somebody did. http://www.sonic-cult.net/dispart.php?cati...subid=2&artid=3 I played it for a heck of a long time and it seems glitch free. It's a full ROM, not just a patch, but you do need to be able to unzip .rar files. Surprisingly the lower jump doesn't lead to any game-breaking dead ends that I've seen, although some paths are blocked because of it. I got just past Labyrinth Zone before I had to head out. It's awesome climbing that huge, normally impassable wall in Marble Zone Act 3 and sailing right to the boss encounter, kinda like in Sonic 2.
  13. Obviously, but are we talking swap disc or chipping? And maybe it will come out here if the show turns out to be a hit.
  14. Does anyone know if there's a way to play import PS1 games on a US PS2 (slim, BTW)?
  15. I'm surprised Chun Li is as popular as she is in Japan, considering she's Chinese. We probably won't be getting an arcade Alpha 3 on any upcoming CCC, because of that damn PSP version of it as a standalone. Somebody needs to make a Marvel fighter than doesn't suck. Since doing a Marvel online fighter is out of the question unless you're under the EA umbrella, somebody needs to snatch up the DC license and make a DC fighter than doesn't suck. DC vs. Street Fighter!! I'd buy it even though it would be an imbalanced, cheesy rehash. The Justice League 16-bit fighter was awesomely bad.
  16. If by "new systems" you mean "the X-Box 360." Gamecube, yes. You might get $40 if you're lucky, because the demand just isn't there. New PS2s aren't going below $99 though, and likely they'll still be sold out. PS3 isn't hitting until early next year at least, and only the most fanatical Joneses are going to be nabbing them right away.
  17. Oh well. Then I'd say about 80 for the PS2 and 40 for the Cube, but that's probably what you'd get as trade ins at one of the big chains. However, still probably try around Christmas time. To parents, I guess a PS2 is a PS2, and as long as it works you should be fine. I sold my X-Box for $120 last year, because I was initially going to sell it for $100 (I had gotten it 80 used in the first place), but somebody offered me the extra 20, and the first person wasn't willing to top it.
  18. Another reason for censored version--so it can be shown on TV at some point down the line. Which will probably be on CN. A lot.
  19. Depends on the model-- a PS2 slim would go for more than the old model, and people will pay more for a Platinum Gamecube than a purple nurple one. However...PS2 slim with the box and instructions and everything? Wait until about a week or two before Christmas. Place an ad in your local paper for the PS2. Ask at least MSRP for it and explain the condition, then thank me later when desperate parents ring in wanting to take it off your hands. So, specifics?
  20. Cheese your way through (ie Bison Psycho Crusher in CE), or wait for ARMax codes. I'm not sure it is one of those "if you lose a round, throw the whole match and continue" dealies or not, though. I'm wanting to upgrade my AR to MAX, but EBs/Gamestops won't take trade ins on ARs, darnit. Super Gn'G has limited continues, and they don't let you access the SNES level select cheat, unfortunately. Even minus the double jump, I still like Goblins the best. Silent Bomber is one of the greatest PS1 games you never heard of, even though it sounds like a flatulant nickname. Urban Chaos makes me almost want to cry with its wasted potential. Pretty decent plot, concept, and gameplay, ruined by the shoddy, shambling Tomb Raider-esque engine Eidos was working with and an utterly crap camera. (Note: It's a PS1/DC game, not to be confused with the new beat 'em up, Urban Reign.) Like, one of the main characters is supposed to be related to Cody, and I think that's the only genuine connection. Impressions of the early versions of the game were extremely underwhelming, but I'll be renting it anyway. It's going to suck ass, and everyone knows it. It's a bland looking half-ass beat 'em up without all of the goodness of bashing skulls in with pipes, 7 foot dead wrestlers, and transexual hookers. Even Beat Down had more potential. The fact that this thing is being tossed out there to die after more ambitious attempts at the genre makes its existence even more insulting. Oh, and just when you think the 100 point ratings scale can't be more idiotic.... Gamespot makes t-shirts out of them.
  21. haha no, he just dies. Souls kill him or something. My favorite part of the baraka fight is him lighting the monks on fire, fucking ruthless. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Lifestream kills Baraka? I hate how at the point I'm at there's like 30 Tartakans everywhere. Get close and they dice you up nasty, but even when you're handing it to 2-3 of them at once, you're getting like 4 blade sparks in the back of your head. In this game, Baraka's a total hoss as Tartakans go. He's scrawny in MK2, but looks like 280 pounds now.
  22. Does Baraka bow to you as he has the sword shoved between his eyes and 3 gallons of blood shoot out of the wound?
  23. It's Midway Arcade Treasures 3, actually, but yeah--it's all driving games and those age really poorly. Alpha Generations is different from the regular Alpha/Zero anime movie, though. I've seen the Alpha one, and it features a vastly different art style. It also has Dan, Sakura, Ryu going evil, and some pretty good fight scenes. The animation/art style isn't as detailed as the SFII animated movie, but the SFII one was rather lacking in decent fighting action and the Alpha one's style seems to fit the game extremely well. Don't expect to see much of Sodom, Birdie, Rose, Guy, etc. though. There's a villian not seen in any of the games standing in since Bison wouldn't fit. I beat the Bionic Commando arcade game in CCC, although it's little more than a gimmick yet to be fully realized than it is the polished title than the NES game was.
  24. The X-Box one is supposed to load faster. There might be slightly different control-setting options, but nothing too significant. X-Box owners don't get the trailers for Devil Kings (a PS2 Dynasty Warriors clone Capcom is making) or the PSP CCC, just the Street Fighter Alpha Generations (a OVA with wonky looking art styles going on), which isn't too surprising. That's it, unless there's well-hidden exclusive secrets beyond the known ones.
  25. You should not be disappointed. The ports are very well done (okay, there's a few people ranting that sfx and voices may be .003 seconds off in the SF games, but whatever), and nearly all of them have adjustable difficulty and a lot of freedom to configure controls. The art is pretty awesome too. Those rejected character designs are funny. I can't wait to unlock the ones for the other SF games.
