  1. Actually read all of the article Mike posted. Very interesting. I thought that most people over 10 years old stopped caring about recycling. "_____ IS Michael Moore IN 'The Cowering Inferno!'" Who would play him? Or would it be a documentary?
  2. ...not a good example if you think he could be a believable main eventer. I think Christian could be, but he'd have to have the right character, and I don't think he's hit on one that works well enough to be a main eventer. Plus, it wouldn't hurt if another steroid scandal reduced the size of your average WWE wrestler. Christian would be able to look like a competive guy next to guys the size of HBK and Bret Hart.
  3. So it will likely default to a Gamecube controller lineup. ...so where will the triggers go? Slap 'em as extra buttons on the top of the screen?
  4. 1st party controllers? Or 3rd party POS like the ones MadCatz makes? Haven't really had any major problems with 1st party ones.
  5. Depending on how well this is executed, it will either be one of the greatest ideas Nintendo ever had, or will be considered one of the stupidest. On the possible negative side--anyone ever use a Turbo Touch 360? That being said, most "traditional" controller configurations I can practically find all the buttons with ease, so provided it registers well this could be a great idea. At the same time, it doesn't change the fact that a well-designed controller should be versatile enough that the button layout wouldn't need to change between most games.
  6. Sounds good, HTQ. I figure it's a lock anyway for Backlash to have JBL/Cena II, because it makes sense for JBL to bitch his way into a rematch some way, and it's the strongest match SD has for the show for now. (SD is getting Backlash right? If so, and if Batista wins, wouldn't it give him a month or so without a decent feud? Think they'd do a slow build up for his first PPV title defense, or perhaps spend a few weeks with a mini-feud where he'd squash some midcard heel?)
  7. I think WWE has proven, historically, that faces can get away with monumentally shitty finishers.
  8. Good point, but there's the risk of Eddy being more likable than Cena, and stealing some of his luster, whether or not he actually tries. A heel feud would probably seem the "safer" bet to WWE. And when you refer to Eddie being put in the title picture, how do you mean? As in, how would they build to it? Would they be initially hostile, friendly, competitive? When would they first face for the title? When would it be blown off? Same as what Dark Age proposed?
  9. Yeah, that sounds more realistic. While most people have Cena pegged as going over, it just doesn't seem like they'd start a feud this close to Mania, build it up so much, and then have a clear blowoff so quickly. Especially since they've put so much work into JBL as champ. Of course, I wouldn't have expected Booker/HHH to be ended after one PPV match either.
  10. I must, once again, inform you all that it would be a terrible decision to turn Eddie heel. Having him tweener it up until a GAB win over JBL, in which Eddie sees the error of his ways, would be cool. Otherwise, no. Predicting what WWE will do doesn't necessarily mean I think it should be done. Personally, I think Cena as a new champ should be programmed immediately against a strong heel to cement him as a main event star. A program, right away, with a willy-nilly tweener would make for a more interesting long term program, but more sensibly could wait a while later down the road.
  11. Well that is a good point. But since I think HHH is retaining, I have to see Cena winning. As for the turn thing, there has been talk for months of turning Eddie. If ANYONE can have a good title match with Cena it's Eddie. JBL hasn't had a good title match since him. If he can do it for Bradshaw, I have to believe he can do it for Cena. Ah yes. I forgot about Eddie's match, which would be a good choice to see a turn. Because Eddie didn't seem to react too well under heavy pressure as champ, I don't see him holding a major title for quite some time. However, that wouldn't prevent him from having a main event feud for a month, losing, and going back to the midcard for a while. Plus, if anyone could make Cena look like a million bucks as champ, Eddie could. Although we haven't seen him as a *real* heel for a long time.
  12. What makes you think JBL is retaining his title? I think Cena is definately winning at WM. And I always just assumed up until a month or so ago that Batista was winning as well. But since he powerbombed HHH through that table, HHH has not done a damn thing to Batista and has only been made to look like a fool by him. HHH wins matches where he has dominated the entire build-up through out, do you really think he'll let himself be jobbed out after not winning a single confrontation during a feud? By all means Batista should probably win, but then again so should have Booker, but he won't, just like Booker. HHH put over Benoit last year, he is going to find a way to convince Vince that Batista just wouldn't be good for the company if he holds the title. I expect JBL to retain because Cena's push seems somewhat thrown together, while Batista's had the slow build going on for several months. If Cena would win the title, aside from a rematch with JBL, what decent heels does Cena have to challenge? Kurt seems the best option, but HBK almost certain to win, it seems less likely. If the booking indicated Kurt would go over, I'd say sure, since Kurt/Cena could be a decent program (key word: could--insert your favorite Anglesault rantings on the last Angle/Cena program here). Yet it seems like a match they would want to save for next Mania, unless Kurt's expecting to retire before then. I doubt that, though. Plus, Vince seems to simply like JBL and may like the idea of keeping one show with a heel champ, the other with a face champ. Of course, regardless if JBL retains or not, the roster switches post-Mania could reshuffle the main event pictures of either show quite a bit, but surely WWE will only be *adding* to Smackdown, not taking away...again...right? Cena seems the obvious, mark-pleasing answer to go over, but going by the current rosters, I don't see many good programs in store for him as champ unless somebody big turns at Mania. Still, the same could have been said about Benoit winning last year. He won, but they had absolutely no compelling feuds for him after the Backlash rematch, and the reign kind of laid there and died.
  13. Let's face it--I don't think WWE would have both heel champs go over and retain their titles. Plus, I can't see the last match on Wrestlemania be a JBL match. Then again, I could see HHH telling Vince how the heat would be nuclear if he'd go over Batista, and the rematch would then be even hotter. Yet if Chris Benoit can go over both HBK and HHH last year, I can't see much reason why a guy WWE's been looking for any excuse to push to the moon since he first showed his face on Raw wouldn't win this one.
  14. It's not? Also, 58 year-old woman using "diss" = comedy Yeah. I can't wait for when she wants to do a youth summit to "rap" with some "young people." Especially after San Andreas, I thought GTA was an equal opportunity "murder simulator"? I'm shocked no politician has brought up Ethnic Cleansing: The Game yet.
  15. Looks like HITLERY!~ is going to take up Lieberman's crusade. Damn, just when I was beginning to almost like her.
  16. I believe the SamSho went a more realistic route, while the Game Boy went with the SD, NGPC approach. The GB one squeezed in more characters and stuff too. Other GG fighters--Rise/Robots, Shaq Fu, Power Rangers--well, pretty much every system got those, though. Didn't get an SFII game, oddly. Heck, it took forever for the Game Boy to get one. Game Gear had decent ports of Gunstar, Ristar, Shinobi, and some fun Sonic games, though. Plus NBA Jam linked-up was great. My brother-in-law in NY has one, plus Master System games, and the Master System thing that lets him play GG games on his MS.
  17. Best RC ever, IMO. The "twist endings" montage (favorite was the Star Wars parody), the Benny Hill funeral, the Titans sketch--topped off with the twisted Peanuts finale--awesome.
  18. Great find, DH. Better than the PS1 launch marketing campaigns by far. I thought it just had MK1 and 2.
  19. I envy you. I can't escape them where I am.
  20. Not really--more like Mai in one of her win poses, and with an added gimmick stolen from a number of sushi westerns. I bet she's really a man, and adopted the persona of a geisha to lure the men she seeks vengeance against into a vulnerable position, pulls the sword out of her umbrella--skkkt! And sadly, it would probably sell better if they added that.
  21. Hack + Slash Okay. *cough* HDD *cough* Yes, it was. They tried to promote it as a replacement for online gaming. Nintendo downplayed online play and tried to make up with it with their Network Adapter--which only Sega really used. Although their online plan isn't really much different than Sony's. Microsoft is the only one of the three to heavily support online gaming. Nintendo since agreed they were wrong and are going to make it more of a focus with the Revolution. Doubt it will be anything like MS is doing, though. Then there's PS1 vs. Saturn, which seemed to most consumers that the PS1 was offering essentially the same games (VF vs. Toshinden, Daytona vs. Ridge Racer, etc.), but the PS1 was cheaper and the games were purtier. When systems launch close together, launch titles can make or break. Which is why I think Microsoft have to be a bunch of utter fools to release the Xenon *first*, and give Sony all the time in the world to line their ducks up, make the PS3 more powerful, make sure they have a good starting lineup, be assured they have enough systems, and can wait for the peak desirable periods to launch it. Now, now--we had a nice discussion going, then you go and ruin it with this steaming pile of shit. I know you're better than that, Jobber. You seem to have a chronic habit of picking the absolute worst examples to back up good points. All-Stars? Started as a free pack-in, an compilation of 3 enhanced NES classics, 1 semi-new game (to the US anyway). Enhanced Zelda 64? Also free. ZM? Practically a brand new game considering how much was added. So, at the very least, Sony is just as bad? Exactly. I agree. Both of them are relying too much on essentially old games. So if you're basing a PSP purchase on that, it doesn't hold much water. But considering the huge installed PS2 user base--how does one justify purchasing a system that offers largely the same gaming experience as the PS2? PS2 costs less, and you can get the older versions of nearly all those games cheaper. Hell, the DS costs 100 bucks less, games are 10 bucks cheaper, you don't need a memory stick. How does one justify the additional cost? In "gimmicky shit" like the movies, MP3s? If not, then what? I thought that "sole remaining market" were little kids? And what's your point? It's been a looong time since I had mine, but I'd say 3-5 hours. I think it took 4 AAs.
  22. He thought it was time he moved out and got a job.
  23. If anyone is buying them they must not know about half.com. Although on there I sold Rumble 2000 for 25 bucks.
  24. Jesus won't mind. Nice guy, salt of the Earth, enjoys a good laugh. Jesus had a great sense of humor and was a constant showoff. He's also fluent in l33+ and is a great hockey player.
  25. Pocketstation? The Vaio with a camcorder/laptop? I'm surprised you used mostly examples that were well over 10 years old, when I'd have said GBA-to-GC connectivity myself. Regardless of good or bad, it's just something already integrated into another machine, as opposed to an extra accessory with only one purpose. You know I mean going to a Blockbuster or HV. =P Don't the memory sticks *start* at $40, with the largest one for $90? The Mario Advance and NES Classics series--yes, indeed. Although focusing on that loses sight of the more bothersome issue--sequels galore on every system. Meanwhile, there are sequels coming out for the DS which at least actually offer something different besides just the novelty of being portable. Furthermore, Sony is rather foolish for not debuting the PSP with Tales of Eternia; if you've got an RPG already made, it's a good idea to launch with it, considering that both the PS1 and GBA were put on the map largely by an RPG, even though neither of them were exactly fantastic. There are tons of people who would be more persuaded to buy a PSP solely if it had a decent RPG. And in the most recent case, they screwed up the original games to such a degree that they lack any appeal whatsoever. I can pick up Twisted Metal Black right now, and it's online counterpart, for about 12 bucks. Tony Hawk? NFS? They have fairly new additions out right now. I repeat: If you want games that are providing something new on the PSP, that selection is, to use your own words, "bare fucking thin." Ridge Racer PSP doesn't even offer online play, which TM:HO does--but Black already did anyway. There's a difference between catering to a niche (NES Classics) and basing your entire starting lineup for a console around rehashes (PSP). I totally agree that Nintendo should be offering a better value. That's why those titles aren't for me. The PSP games that I have any interest in aren't coming out for a hell of a long time. Oh, and ATV, Ape Escape, Darkstalkers Chronicles, NFL Street 2 Unleashed are ports or slightly upgraded ports. The NES Classics offer reprints of the instruction manuals and box design. And there's a demand for them. Why else would Metroid: Zero Mission get absolutely pummeled in sales by the NES Classics Metroid, when M: ZM contains the NES Metroid as well? DH would probably beg to differ, however taking a look at what's slated for both systems, the worthwhile games for each are few and far between. Neither are going to have libraries that make them must-haves until Christmas or beyond. The DS has great games coming that are mostly in Japan right now, but depending on the "new Game Boy" situation, one wonders when they're coming here and how Nintendo would support both. Meanwhile, the PSP's more interesting games are early in development. Supposedly GTA's coming next month, but nobody's even seen screenshots yet, and rumors are that it's being pushed back.
