We're using a Gamestop list to speculate on when/if future games will come out? Where's that Soul Calibur 3 for Xbox, while we're on that topic? An Assassin's Creed on DS is an Assassin's Creed in name only. However, "Project Assassin" was originally mentioned for release on PSP and Wii as well on the leaked Ubi release list last E3. But cool, it looks like TOUCH THE DEAD is coming out after all.

I got Super Paper Mario. It's quite terrific. Just about the only thing that rather annoyed me about Paper Mario was that I wasn't too much of a fan of the turn-based battles. Done away with. It's still an RPG. The action isn't as intense as a real Mario platformer, but there is your expected puzzle solving/item collecting, etc. If you're a fan of the series you know what to expect, basically.

    Xbox 360

I bought a 360. Quick question--will any standard USB controller work as a wired, or do you need to buy specially marked 360 pads?
  5. More than one of the guys who wrote "Cop Killer" being a regular cast member on Law & Order?
  6. So NBC debuts a good new show...jerks it around on the schedule big time, and cancels it before really giving it a shot. Who do they think they are, Fox?

Today is the ship date. Nintendo is prone to awkward ship dates like that (see also: NSMB Sunday)
  8. So, could either of you folks tell us a little more about Puzzle Quest?
  9. A trickle. Because of DS' GBA slot, I don't expect we'll see the end of GBA games completely for a while.

Yeah, Power Glove was great. The release of that video was well timed, too--the Wii was still a ways away and lots of folks were speculating on how effective it will be. Wow--internets are serious business around here... Ninty has put out a VC press release for today: I'll wait for 1up's Retro Roundup to hear how Bravoman is. The others I have on other compilations (and wouldn't pay that much for singly, either).

Please, NEVER bring up Angry _ Nerd's review of the game. The guy is less trustworthy than GameSpot for game reviews, and he is just not funny nor is he worth my time to watch. He's intermittently funny. You're being silly if you expect an unbiased "review" from a persona that's all about angry ranting and raving about games that ticked him off as a child.

Apparently RE4 Wii will be 30 bucks new, and supports true widescreen: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/vine/showthread.php?t=548764 If the visuals are GC quality or better, this may be worth picking up after all.
  14. Do you have a bootable disc, such as an install disc or a system repair/restore disc? If you do and it doesn't boot, then you know you're probably not looking at an issue with the drive.

I don't believe the F or the roster is a concern at all, really. Remember that Vince & Co. have grown extremely protective with their "intellectual property," and when they own a name/trademark/gimmick, they basically own it forever. So while they've been signing retired talent to the Legends programs, TNA ex-WWF guys often do ripoffs of their own former characters because WWE owns the trademarks on them. Remember Fake Diesel and Razor. Specifically relating to video games--about half of the WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game roster was gone by the time it hit consoles. Plus, Acclaim was selling and distributing WWF Attitude for Dreamcast years after it was made initially...and it was WWF that sued Acclaim over it. Tecmo Bowl was altered to remove player names. If necessary, WWF logos could be removed/altered from No Mercy I believe. However, it won't happen, because THQ/Yukes would rather sell the new SvR game on Wii.

I don't think we can rule out a No Mercy VC port because of issues with The Fund. I think it could be ruled out because the game is still better than the garbage THQ releases these days.
  17. My local store stopped carrying N64/PS1/DC stuff last year (shipped all their stock to "other stores"), but I was out of town today, and picked up a few games. For N64 I got Hybrid Heaven and Kirby. For PS1 I got Rhapsody, Bust a Move 99, Twisted Metal 2, and since it was only 45 cents--Uprising X (I honestly don't know what the hell it is even). And somebody slapped the wrong label on NES Classics Zelda (was labeled as Zelda 2), so I picked it up as well. Fortunately, I was being rung up by the token female-who-knows-nothing-about-games they recently hired, so she didn't notice. Yay. Except for Zelda, the rest was like 9 bucks total.

While it's encouraging to see a licensed game, it's discouraging to see a premium cost on it (odd how cheap a licensed arcade game is on XBLA, though).

I passed on it because there's *no new features at all*. In fact, they just tossed in waggle and removed the blood. Not even the PSP features are in. Weak. I've played through it 2x already on console. Odd import game that looks really fun: http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/2007/04/0...nd-awesomefied/ Sure, it's mini-game-ish, but it seems to work really well in context. IGN said, BTW, that Umbrella Chronicles isn't a "rail" shooter. It's a FPS (with free, FPSery movement), but linear.
  20. I guess I'll give that a shot when my Live OneCare trial expires. I went with that after my Norton Internet Security expired, and it's holding up extremely well. I don't want to go back to that resource-hogging beast Norton, though. Ugh. EDIT: Avast! is just Antivirus I see. Do you use it in combination with the standard win firewall or something else?
  21. Everybody is crap at the DS version.
  22. Any good N64 stuff has been pillaged from my area. Goldeneye? F-Zero X? Hahah! Nowhere to be found. Is there actually a Gamestop in the country that has Dreamcast games worth a damn? Every one of them in my area was combed through over a year ago. Except for, you know, NFL 2K/NBA 2K. Or crap PC shovelware.
  23. Yeah, at least as much as PS2 will allow. Tomb Raider Legend had great visuals even for the platform, although it's a shame there's no 360/PS3 version planned. This is moot, because it isn't going to suffer the ill effects of the original TR's engine. It's about solid platforming/action gameplay. This one should be much easier overall, but that's because of the drastically improved control. For anyone who hasn't played Tomb Raider Legend, the difference between it and the old games' control is ridiculous. It's like comparing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night's Alucard to his NES counterpart.

Maybe it isn't pairing right with the Wii. Try to hit the Home button to check the battery power level. If that doesn't work, take out the batteries and put them back it. If that doesn't work, cut the power from the Wii, unplug it, and remove your batteries. After a minute or so, plug the Wii back in, power it on, and put the batteries back in. Failing that, try new batteries. For some odd reason, my Wiimote seemed to have pairing issues when I'd rented Sonic/Secret Rings. But only when that game was in the Wii and had been played the last time. Hm. But I still got a good week or so more out of the batteries after that before needing to recharge, so I don't think it was the batteries. If you have two wiimotes or more, maybe you're not using the primary; try another.
  25. Gamestop and EB are now selling KH2 for 20 bucks new. Other retailers haven't done that price yet as far as I can tell. The game reached Greatest Hits sales milestone (500,000+) and the release time milestone (9 mo. +) a while ago, but S-E haven't given it the GH treatment. In fact, as of the end of March it's been out a full year.
