I liked that also. I also liked the nod to the finish of the XX match when Benoit got the first fall of the match (HHH trying to roll out of the Crossface, but Benoit getting a crucifix for the pin). JR and Lawler were actually tolerable as well.

I missed pretty much the first half of RAW while playing 2K5, but it sounds like I didn't miss much (I am a mark for battle royales, though) As for the Ironman, they really didn't get it going until the second half of the match, which I guess is kind of expected in these things. This one flowed a bit better than Angle-Lesnar, but the beginning had me turning to the Sox game a few times. I applaud Benoit for going balls out here, even breaking out a tope, nearly breaking his neck on the barrier. I could have lived without the two ref bumps, though. For those complaing that "a retard saved Benoit", he DID make HHH tap cleanly TWICE, while HHH used the steps a chair, and Evolution to get falls. That's how it goes; faces get clean wins, heels cheat. The ending was pretty predictable, but Eugene delivered a primo chairshot (which didn't lead to a HHH blading, which is kind of out of character for him), so it wasn't that bad. Decent match, I'd put it just slightly above Lesnar-Angle.

I think A-Rod was pissed since he believed the beaning was intentional, since he had the winning hit the previous night. He wanted to give Arroyo a piece of his mind, and Varitek, doing what he always does when a batter gets plunked (maybe saying something like, "Just get your ass to first."), got in his way. A-Rod overreacted, which included CHALLENGING VARITEK TO FIGHT and off we went.

Actually, I recall seeing A-Rod give Bronson a few naughty words before quickly turning to Varitek and blowing up. I still maintain that A-Rod totally lost it and nothing would have happened if he just jogged to first. Sure, you can give the pitcher a dirty look and probably say something, but jack one out of the yard your next time up instead of trying to be a tough guy and instigating (yes, reeling off 4 or 5 "fuck you's" and making a "bring it" motion to a guy is instigating) a brawl. Varitek probably could have controlled himself, but the situation just was going downhill from there. Really, I ask again, what possibly could have Varitek said to him to justify that explosion? A-Rod was pissed, saw Tek coming up to him to try and calm him down and walk him to first, and unleashed his rage on him. Of course, I'm probably just "distoring reality."

Ricky or no, no playoffs, Wannstedt is GONE, I have no doubts about it. As for the news, it's sad that he fell out of love with the game and leave the Fins in the lurch, but I think being the focal point of the Dolphins offense for the better part of three (?) years just wore him out. He probably didn't like guys using his hair to pull him down, either.

I play 8 minutes as well. Takes about 45-50 minutes to play a full game, so that's not too bad. I used to play 10 minute quarters on Madden, but that's just too long. In my Pats franchise, Shaun Alexander set a new single game rushing record.......of 405 yards, including 98-yard TD scamper that made the SC highlights. I played a game against the Bills and won, with Brady named the player of the game. When Suzy interviewed him, the voice sounded eerily like Drew Bledsoe. Had a good chuckle out of that.

So I finally saw the fight. And A-Rod has to take the blame here. He didn't have to start jawing at Arroyo, and he CERTAINLY didn't have to explode at Varitek and CHALLENGE HIM to fight. What the hell could Tek POSSIBLY have said to him in the 3 seconds it took for A-Rod to go off like that? A-Rod should get a few games for this. If you get hit, just shut up and jog to first. Hit a homer off the guy in your next at-bat to get him back.

It's just a way to have a better chance at success. You charge up while running and you'll have a better chance at stiff-arming a defender or running through him. Charge up while on the line and you can break through the O-line quicker to get to the QB.

I'm at week 7, so I can look at the draft prospects now. It is great how these guys have faces to put with the stats. I guess you get Mel Keiper Jr.'s first draftee report on the Week 7 SC. The biggest problem I have with this game is the kick meter. They desperately need to scrap it next year and just take Madden's. It just makes kicks way too hard to aim.

Wow....the West really DOES suck, doesn't it? Last I saw, I wasn't pitching up to snuff for them, so I shoulder a bit of the blame. I'm keeping the K's coming, but my ERA is still a tad high at 3.50. As long as we make the playoffs, I'll be happy. You never know.
