  1. A few days of bitching and moaning before everyone gets over it?

    Is this the new trend?

Moronic. I'd symphathize if they were complaining about the heat, since I wouldn't want to run around in pads in 100+ degree heat either. Football is a strenuous game, and it takes a lot to get a team ready, so these guys are going to have to suck it up if they want to actually go anywhere.
  3. That kind of had me scratching my head as well. An ump warns both benches, so by rule, the ump has all the right in the world to toss a pitcher that intentionally hits a guy. What, is that ump too damn stupid to realize that Schilling hit the guy that scored the only run against him today? I hope this whole staff gets a hit in the wallet after this series. If Ortiz gets plunked, he might as well charge the mound, the umps won't mind.
  4. In hitting, you have to go with the pitch. If it is outside, you press either left or right (right for righties, left for lefties) with the swing button to get good contact. If it is up, press up, if it is a low pitch, press down (you can press up, but you have to hit it just right or you'll just pop it up 5 miles into the air.) I just lost the WS to the Cardinals 4-1 in my second season. Nomar charged the mound during the ALCS against Cleveland and hurt his shoulder in the process, so that completely screwed me (along with my pitchers sucking ass the whole postseason). My only win was in an 18-inning marathon in St. Louis where one of my PITCHERS smacked in the winning run.
  5. Not really a review per-se, but more of an analysis of the '92 Rumble: The thing that makes it for me is the fantastic (yet simple) way Flair was booked. He comes in at #3 and Gorilla immediately jumps on the "no one who has drawn #1-5 has ever been there at the end" fact, establishing Flair as a longshot right then and there. Flair mixes it up with everyone as the ring fills up, dishing it out just as much as he takes it, not afraid to go after everyone, despite people thinking he's all talk. The match goes on, and Flair keeps going, not cowering in the corner like people would think. He dumps out a few guys (including Bulldog), and is alone in the ring for a few seconds, but Roddy Piper (who he was feuding with) comes out, so he's right back to getting his ass kicked. More guys come in, including the more established stars, and Flair is still going at it. When the Undertaker comes out, who goes after him first? Flair, to the chagrin of Heenan (the commentary really adds to this match, by the way. Gorilla and Bobby were ON.) Towards the end, as guys like Hogan and Savage come in, Flair STILL won't take a breather, even though he had been in for over 40 minutes at that point. As Flair nears the longevity record, the guy who held the record (Rick Martel) comes in, which was a really nice little touch, I think, but they didn't really build on it much. The only thing I didn't like was the ending with Hogan being a whiny bitch and pulling on Sid's arm. I would have just had Hogan distract Sid while Flair came up from behind and dump him. The gist of my arguement is this: Flair was pegged as an underdog from the start (even Heenan had his doubts when Flair came out), but he stood up to anyone and everyone that came in, no matter who they were (the Undertaker is a great example, since he was being booked as indestructable at that point), and that performance earned the respect of everyone who didn't see him wrestle in the NWA.
  6. Man, Angel fans must be saying "Percival WHO?" right now. Although Francona pretty much threw in the towel there by letting the power trio of Kapler, Mirabelli, and Reese bat.
  7. Homers by Ortiz and Damon are too little, too late right now. Damon's hit two, so that helps my fantasy team at least. I was watching a movie, so I didn't see, but I guess Wake getting a line drive to the back kind of ended his night?

    Geosense

Geosense This is actually a pretty cool game where you have to find a city in a country, getting points for how close you get to it. It's actually pretty challenging. You can play against another person, as well.
  9. I'm not much of a TNA fan at all, so if that makes my opinions look like dogshit to people, then so be it. Coffey: That's fine....if TNA was based in another country. TNA is based in North America, where WWE is the top dog. TNA is on PPV in North America, so they are directly competing with WWE for PPV dollars (buying one month of TNA = (roughly) the price of one WWE PPV). TNA is mentioned because they have a weekly PPV show, and they have a weekly TV show on a fairly major cable network. When the rest of the feds do that, then they can get thrown in the discussion as well. Like Nelly said, TNA is going to have to change that if they want to become something. Of course, the catch to that is if they make money, get more exposure and create some good stars....WWE may take a closer look at them, and that might not be good for TNA. Mad Dog: TNA has a TV deal and a weekly PPV....I'd say they are pretty ahead of RoH right now. And the percentage of Smarks that watch WWE, while probably increasing every year, is still probably a pretty small percentage of WWE's total audience. You can't really depend on a small niche audience to keep you above water for very long. The BigSwigg: Ok, fine, but those WCW fans that left after WCW folded may not want to watch TNA for a number of reasons (don't like wrestling anymore, don't like TNA), so it may be tough to recruit them. Like it or not, to build an audience, TNA is probably looking at at least convincing WWE fans to watch their product as an "alternative" to WWE and hope they stay tuned. If you think TNA can become successful AND be immune from the WWE, you're dreaming. Vince wouldn't think twice before raiding a competitor. Now I'm not saying TNA should just stay where they are right now, but that's a reality they have to deal with.
  10. Guess I know where Brady's going if he tosses more than 2 picks in a game. Really, this damn thing is going to ROCK! Anyone know how much PS2 memory card space the saves will take up?
  11. The ump WAS pretty all over the place (for both teams) all night, and Ortiz has a knack for not agreeing with 3rd strike calls. When the call came (it was borderline, IMO), Ortiz was mad, but seemed to be calm; once Francona came out to restrain him and the ref tossed him out, THEN he went bonkers. How much? It took Francona, the 3rd base coach, and one other guy to keep him away from the ump. Once he got into the dugout, he tossed out two bats, one of which almost hit one of the other two umpires who were standing on the first base line.
  12. If they don't bring back Susan Power for the sequel, I won't be shedding any tears. I've wanted to slap her around about 5 different times already.
  13. Oh, Hogan brings the funny. "Whatcha gonna do when the new Millenium runs wild on you?"
  14. I just want to point out something I saw while reading a Sports Guy chat transcript today: You kind of figured it was coming, but I guess this is as close to official as you're going to get.
  15. At least we're getting the Clinton stuff out of the way right off the bat. This gave Leno his monologue material for the last 5 years.
  16. Kind of makes me want to get an X-Box. But my brother has one, and he'll most likely pick this up, so I'll just play it at his place. PS2 has fewer bells & whistles (or you need to spend another $100 to utilize them), but I just want a solid game.
  17. Really, Congress needs to take a cue from the British Parliament and put Republicans on one side of the room and Democrats on the other and have them face each other, allowing them to yell at each other as much as possible. Either that, or a Senate-clearing brawl over social security. C-Span needs RATINGS, dammit!!
  18. Millar does commercials for some chicken joint in Boston (it may be KFC itself; I've never seen them myself, for some reason.) Nice to see the offense decided to take one more night off. Although Washburn is on my fantasy team, so I can't be TOO annoyed.
  19. I find it funny that I've been raking in the K's ever since I became a starter, but the last two scouting reports I've seen say I still need to find my "out" pitch. I need to get the ERA down a little, though. 3 and a half is a bit too high for my taste.
  20. I believe so on both counts. Why wouldn't it? Oh, and the game has officially gone gold, so I guess we'll be seeing the first reviews out by the weekend.
  21. I don't think it's frustration, per se. They KNOW that Madden is the king of the hill right now, and has been for over 10 years. All they want to do is to get their product out to the public as best they can, and try to create as many converts as possible. I also found this on Gamespot:
  22. Gamespot has an interview up regarding the whole marketing strategy with ESPN 2K5. Sounds like they're really serious with becoming a solid competitor with Madden. They probably won't outsell Madden, but they have a great chance at stealing a good chunk of possible Madden sales. I don't think it will be a 10 to 1 romp for EA this year.
  23. All right, you got me there. But Sunny and Elizabeth actually did bring something to the table in their roles.
  24. They expected WWE to treat this like the Miss America pageant or something? Have they been WATCHING this company for the last 5 years? And Carmella's pretty hot, but I would put being Playmate of the Year over some crappy WWE diva gig. She's not going to wrestle (at least, I pray she doesn't), apparently she can't act, and most everyone has already seen her naked, twice. How the hell are they going to use her?
  25. As I watch 4 fire trucks tend to a house where there is whips of smoke coming out of one window, the second half of the MLB season is about to begin. WILL the Rangers keep their pace going and make the playoffs? WILL someone win the Randy Johnson Sweepstakes? WILL the Astros keep taking Boston's managerial sloppy seconds? And of course, WILL Al and FS' baseball debates finally pave the way for the steel cage death match we're all hoping for?
