I got back from a plainly enjoyable High School football game. Between the 3-4 Bears and the 0-7 Patriots. Now, this means something.. this is the first meeting on the new field between the cross-town rivals. Now, let me go over some stuff. We (The Bears team) won, and it was enjoyable. 35-25 was the final. The Patriots went into the game with 31 points all season, but by at least coming close to equaling their TDs all year (they had 4 tonight, before that, the total was 5) and points. But, they are 0-7, they couldn't just beat us. They'd have to hit an extra point first (they hit one tonight, I guess they've had 1 XP all year before). What fun is a game if you can't chant and piss people off? Since it seems that they keep a watch on the Student section, they swooped in on us a few times. They made sure we couldn't just have a huge bullhorn. Probably a good idea. They let us keep the small one, and we repeatedly played the funeral theme. The principal was quite displeased with us going into a chant of "Na na na Na na na Hey hey hey Goodbye" after going up 35-18. So what if this school has claimed a history of being good sports. This is a rivalry sucka! anyways, we probably took that philosophy since we never consistantly won in football (we did supposedly get on Letterman during our 30+ game losing streak in the 80s) Also, I'd say the local cop (I didn't see any other cops) were not happy when fans jumped the fence to run on the field after we won. So what? We won the 'Wagon Wheel' dealie. We sunk them to 0-8. Negative notes: People parked everywhere, not to mention the dumbasses who haven't realized that the road to the school goes from two to one lane so they have to merge and slow people down. Could have worked better with more confetti (more on that later) Positive notes: Starting off the events by blowing up alot of stuff (in this case, Fireworks) and having the lights off for it rocked. I'd guess the 7pm start was delayed as they waited for the lights to come on and all that. One more thing: Confetti. To be precise.. now, at the start of this game, they shot off a shitload of confetti into the stands. After all five of our touchdowns, they shot off confetti. I want them to keep the confetti gun. the fact that I wore a huge yellow wig for the fourth quarter rocked. Although I wanted to keep it. So.. with two more games with teams that were 2-5 before tonight in our district, winning the district is very possible. Next game is on Halloween night, then a November 8th game. Sure, both teams may suck, but the team just hasn't ever done that. Since both games are away games, it just won't be as fun when we beat them all (and go to the playoffs) I guess next year (for our first homegame in 2003), they will mention to the fans to "Not jump the fences to run onto the field at the end of games". That won't work. Now, remember the crazy times of sports, or just the times when "The man" went fascist on you all and stopped the fun. Remember the stuff.. now..
