I am sick and fucking tired of everyone using 9/11

I think the lack of communication before 9/11 was a bigger more preventable problem -
Don't want to vote for Nader in your swing state?
Rob E Dangerously replied to a topic in Current Events
The Republican Party, the party which has lost the majority of urban areas since 1932, will go to those areas to get votes and ignore you guys. The Democratic Party, which wins large majorities in those urban areas wouldn't try to branch out and get some more votes. Something tells me that there'll be campaigning in suburban areas and get out the vote efforts in rural areas. Do you suspect there's also people living in Kansas or Utah who would vote Democrat but won't do it because it won't matter? Do you suspect the same about Republican voters in Rhode Island or Hawaii? But, since George W. Bush will hit the stump in Heavily Democratic areas.. i'm sure that proves the badness of the Popular vote. But anyways.. I'd imagine there would be a rise in turnout with a popular vote. Anyways.. put "None of the Above" on the ballots. You'd at least get the disgruntled voters to show up for that. -

Saddam plans to run for President of Iraq
Rob E Dangerously replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Current Events
betting money says he doesn't live to see those elections I guess you have to take a statement from the lawyer of Saddam Hussein with a bit of salt -
This being the same intel that got us into Iraq in the first place? Mike.. do you suspect Allawi has reason to sugarcoat or spin? It's reasonable that he would. How much of Iraq can he move though? Yeah.. that's one difference. It'd be like if we were fighting the Iranian army during this. Yeah.. and elections were held in 1968. The 1971 elections turned out to be considered a "sham". Although the South Vietnamese Democratic Process lost ground when Diem banned all opposition in the 1950s. I admit there's variables. But, out of the wars since the early 1970s, this is the closest. Although there were probably those who considered Vietnam a bit of a civil war too. But it was pretty much intranation. This is civil. With reports of around 20,000 or so people, and growing, even as they are killed. yep.. it's pretty much disruption, and related to a power vacuum in the country, various religious things, resentments and all that. I didn't mention this.. but there's definately room for some improvement in dealing with guerrilla warfare. It cannot be eliminated completely. But still, it seems to be the thorn in the paw. and again, I admit there's differences. maybe "the most similar" is a bit of an easy statement too. that involves tactics which were not undertaken in those wars, but have seemingly been undertaken in this war. Here's Former President Bush to a group of Gulf War veterans in 1998: http://www.fas.org/news/iraq/1999/03/a19990303bush.htm Appears GW didn't hear those statements from his own father. yeah.. there's this problem.. involving insurgents having control of parts of the country. And as well, would you say that Iraq has been safer since Saddam Hussein was captured? It seems that the various groups have stepped up activity.

http://www.washtimes.com/upi-breaking/2004...54405-9487r.htm meanwhile.. Bush and Allawi were claiming that Iraq was on it's way to elections in January: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,133299,00.html and Donald Rumsfeld mentioned that parts of Iraq may not be voting in January: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...usa_rumsfeld_dc and meanwhile in Fallujah, remember the brigade we let administer the city? http://www.hinduonnet.com/thehindu/holnus/...00409131756.htm The biggest difference between Iraq and Vietnam appears to be the scenary and the number of dead soldiers. The problem in Vietnam with politicians running the war seems to be reoccuring in Iraq. I'm sure America was told that the VietCong was a handful, like the Iraqi insurgents. I'm sure that the elections in South Vietnam were looked upon eagerly as well. Granted, there's potential that the elections could work. Although if the government elected asks us to leave, do we do that? It won't be the exact same mess. Times change, the difficulties will be different, and the people killed won't come back. Even with the constant optimism, I don't know what will have to happen in Iraq. It doesn't seem like capturing Saddam did anything to stop insurgents. It doesn't seem like there's too much to do that would better the situation. *shrug* yeah..

Saddam plans to run for President of Iraq
Rob E Dangerously replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Current Events
Wait.. John Kerry is bad, since he'll bash Saddam but he also is with dictators Allawi also has no reason to sugarcoat stuff anyways, and he knows Iraq, since he's spent half his life in England and giving foreign aid to countries that just happen to support our acts (like Costa Rica, Palau and Tonga) is not any sort of bribery at all. And the Coalition is vast too! And John Kerry is being bad for daring to question it's awesomeness. It's not window dressing! Our 28 allies provide 13% of the troops by themselves! Anyways.. it's just a small handful of people fighting us in Fallujah, it's not like our withdrawal from that city was a Vietnam-esque political move where the Fallujah brigade that we let administer the city were fighting the Americans. Anyways, Iraqis are more optimistic than we are, and that's a good thing! did I summarize the messege well? Are the insurgents committing suicide at the gates of Iraq? -
Saddam plans to run for President of Iraq
Rob E Dangerously replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Current Events
Wait.. if Saddam wins.. we're supposed to be nice to him? so much for him being an outlaw dictator and all that. So, Allawi's claims about Iraq are infallible.. like how he claimed that they had chemical weapons that they could fire within 45 minutes. How about W declaring that Iraq would have elections in January because Allawi told him they would? comparing Allawi to Saddam isn't too flattering to Allawi -

Forgetting that NYC goes Democrat by a large margin. Same goes for almost every other big urban area in the United States. Although relying on the Popular Vote would draw the Democrats more towards the suburban areas (while trying to get out the vote in the urban areas) I forget if anybody's mentioned IRV yet.. but I suspect it wouldn't work. Unless Americans have moved forward in the last 80 years in their ability to pick a second choice (they weren't when this was an option in Alabama). Plus, IRV seems a bit complex. The fair thing to do is put "None of the Above" on the ballot in all 50 states -
http://www.zaman.org/?bl=international&alt...040921&hn=12424 Well.. Saddam's counting on Gallup.. I guess nobody ever told him "You think the poll is inaccurate" So.. any idea on the system for Iraqi elections? one big primary followed by a runoff is one guess I suspect the "Anybody but Saddam" vote will be strong too

maybe registered independents could cast votes in their own open primary with all the candidates, but it wouldn't really be meaningful. There's no party registration in Missouri though, and it's probably like that in a good number of states -

Best. Restaurant. EVER!, Worst. Restaurant. EVER!
Rob E Dangerously replied to Elbarto997's topic in General Chat
this is probably a big bounce, but here goes.. KFC - good sides, good chicken, I should try the wrap again Arby's - good Popeyes - I've had the jambalaya twice and the chicken once, proving that I am a bit out there. It was good. Church's - Never bothered to go Denny's - It was everything I expected.. it smelled like smoke, there was a wait, but my BLT wasn't too bad Backyard Burgers - Rocks, hard. Hardees - Turned the corner, and it's good stuff now. McDonalds - Fucking pansy burgers (maybe I could stop getting the "Two Cheeseburger" combo) Burger King - A bit better Wendy's - good food Applebees - I didn't finish my stuff both times Joe's Crab Shack - I should have gotten the seafood instead of their attempt at a burger Arthur Bryant's owns you. If only I could find a way to get a parking space in a good spot around there. Taco Bell - I go from time to time. But not that often. Sonic - Does it count? either way.. it's average I don't think the Auntie Anne's thing at my local mall counts, but they have sour cream and onion pretzels. Hooters - The food is average, and the women are like a lot of women, they humor you as a way to get you to give up money -

CBS says it can't vouch for Bush documents
Rob E Dangerously replied to bob_barron's topic in Current Events
I'll say it --- Kerry's campaign peddled them. We KNOW Burkett spoke to two high-ranking members (Lockhart and the perennial sandy vagina, Max Cleland) and we KNOW that the Dems somehow had ads with stuff from the forged memos (that they didn't see, mind you *wink*) on the air the day after the memo story hit. I'd say that you were confusing the other documents with the Burkett documents, but that's like explaining poker to a dog or calculus to Paris Hilton, it won't do a damn bit of good Which president declared "Well, when the president does it that means that it is not illegal" It was Nixon. Nixon has such a huge record of bullshit and distortions. From his campaign against Voorhis. To Helen Douglas (and the Vito Marcantonio distortion) on until the end. Nixon tops Clinton in paranoia. The guy was concerned about losing in 1972, in a situation where he had a certain chance of winning over any candidate, especially over McGovern. Do you remember what was going on as they were burglarizing the Democrats offices in the Watergate? It was an election. Basically.. in your own distorted world. It's OK to lie about all that. You, being the Watergate Revisionist that you are, probably won't admit to what good DNC documents would be good for in this situation. I guess knowing what your opposition is going isn't too bad. I guess covering up something so fucking scandalous isn't so bad. When compared to the horror of two people talking to History's greatest monster, John Burkett. Then again, the difference could be subtle "It's worse.. since Nixon was winning" Well.. Nixon never admitted guilt. So you can go on and declare him right all you want. We're going to have a kickass time with President Kerry. You should start preparing for a career in talk radio. John Kerry will create jobs for apologists like you in that exciting field. (Kerry's poll numbers probably mean that Gore was doomed when he went down by 10 in a Gallup poll in October) Will you be in a wheelchair of your own when you bitchslap Max Cleland, or will you tell him "It's your fault you have no legs" -

the biggest grudge that Mike probably has against Nixon is that he was dumb enough to tape his conversations, and fire Archibald Cox. Or just the part about taping. Granted, the biggest mistake for most criminals is leaving evidence against themselves. So.. Nixon is more honest than Carter and Clinton. Riiiiiiiiiiiight somebody who is linked to forged documents talking to an advisor is worse than sending the Plumbers to break into a room at the Watergate to get dirt on the Democrats.
