Well, they could have done the "If you interfere during this match..." and have te guy come out immediately after the match routine. Well, that's what they probably should have done. Then again...it is the WWE.

Regal preparing to hit on Gail Kim at Backlash was the highlight of the year. I'm just glad they found something worthwhile for him to do while he got over the injury. Now he's just got to refine his wrestling style a touch more, because pre-injury he wasn't having particularly great matches.

Oh god, please. Ok, Benoit isn't the main focus of the show, but 'overall burial' is the type of whiney blind Benoit favoritism that makes this folder so bad. How is he not being buried? Since he won the Royal Rumble, minus a brief period in April, he's gotten nothing. He was an afterthought to the WMXX ME, he barely gets on half the shows, his feud with Kane got nothing as far as buildup and he's been in the shadow of HHH/HBK the whole time. Not any one instance is a burial but when you start putting it all together it equals a burial. Afterthought to the WMXXME? What the fuck? They gave him about 5 minutes in-ring to celebrate with the belt AND Eddie, gave him the JR hyperbole...he made the champion tap out. Where were Michaels and HHH after the bell? Gone. That was Benoit's time. His feud with Kane wasn't given proper time. Maybe that's because feuds require...you know interviews. And segments. Both of which Benoit has been proven to be bad at. Plus, HHH/HBK was the more important match so obviously it gets better billing. Title or not. Fact is, he doesn't 'get on half the shows' (another exageration) because without wrestling, there's nothing for him to do. As for getting thrown out...there's a simple reason why Benoit wasn't thrown out. So they could build the HHH/Benoit feud. If Benoit was thrown out, you'd all be bitching 'Oh, Benoit got thrown out. He's not on the show again. He's the World Champion. It's all HHH's fault. Wah wah wah!' They can do no right unless Benoit is main eventing every show against other work-rate gods. I've said it before. This isn't ROH, and unfortunately Benoit just doesn't meet the criteria for being a successful champion.

Kanyon is a former WCW US and WWE Tag Champion. That more than major enough for TNA.

If Sweden/Denmark ends 2-2, they're both screwed because you just know the Italians will try and get them thrown out for it.

Burchill would make an impact, but not in TNA. For a start, it'd prevent him working for the FWA. Anywho. Chalk up another vote for Michael Shane, who I thought had improved in recent months. Plus as someone already said, they had a decent match in the IWA:MS.

So outside of his accomplishments named, what hasn't Benoit done? Talk? Bingo. That's why he's not the main focus of the program. That's why he seems like a midcard. Cause outside of the ring, there's nothing for him to do. Remember the Edge/Coach/Benoit segment where Benoit couldn't pull a decent facial expression to save his life. Forget Eugene, that was the thing most of my casual fan friends ribbed me about after that show. Coincidence?

That'd be my problem too. Eventually, every announce team would begin to get bland. JR and King are now, because they've gone on for too long and turned into caracatures (can't spell OMGDZ~!) of themselves. Having a modification of the team on one show out of three would, as Manson said, break the monotony and probably add a bit of fun. Hence my 'guest' commentator idea to keep Comet/Riley around. I mean, I'd find it fun for example to have a Comet/Todd Royal partnership for a one-off show. A Wildchild/Riley team would be a train-wreck, but humorous at the same time. If I had a show off, you could have Landon/Riley/Comet. And the thing about those partnerships would be their uniqueness. You'd only have to find one set of jokes for them, rather than about two-dozen a month. The (minor) problem I see with the commentator switch would be the newbies/last JL bumpees who wouldn't know the history of Frost, Erik and...well...I suppose EVERYONE knows Neilson. But you get my point. All it'd need is for someone to trawl through and give us a brief history lesson, but you couldn't just throw them in. It took me a good month to sort out Justice/Rule/Annie and their respective histories.

I thought Cole had a decent game today. Him and Scholes on the left opens up way too much space down the wing and Ronaldo will give him hell in the Portugal game. But he made a good few tackles tonight.

Ok. Bear with me. I may be the only one who's having problem with this, but the commentary situation is beginning to drag me down a bit. Just as it did in the JL at times. It's the worst part of my matches. Commentary. Every show has Riley and Comet on commentary. Not a bad thing, as they're a great partnership to write the majority of the time. The trouble is, I regularly find myself going into clichés and overkill with the two. I'm not the funniest guy at the best of times. But I'm finding myself lacking good Riley/Comet materials at points in my match. Just my opinion...but... ...we have three different T.V shows. I personally wouldn't mind a little shake-up on one of the shows. Let's say we have Riley/Comet on Smarkdown and Lockdown. Then we have Storm. Surely we could form a b-team out of some charismatic ex-wrestler vets? Judge. Ejiro. King. Eel. Annie. Eel. Matheson. Eel. There's a lot of candidates. Heck, even if we had one of the shows feature a 'special guest commentator', depending on who has a show off and wat vets would be good. Like, we could have Card and Comet, Wildchild and Riley...three-way partnerships...it'd shake things up and make things a little more interesting. Again...this may be just me, which is why I wanted everyone to discuss. That and the fact the board would usually be dead for the next 2 days. It's something to think about, even just to get rid of some boredom. So...discuss.

4-2. Good result, although I still don't think we look a real threat to the big teams. France luck out and get the Greeks, while England end up playing Portugal in the quarters. I tell you, I'm not looking forward to that one. Portugal don't look over-impressive, but we're still not looking good at the back. Plus they have good free-kick takers. And we have Owen, who's had another horrible night. Rooney vs the World it seems.
