  1. Bret vs. Sid, not Jarrett. Bret and Jarrett were both in the nWo. Jarrett was to have fought Benoit in the best of 3 falls using the gauntlet gimmicks - wrestling, no holds barred, and the cage.
  2. Who ... the fuck ... cares? How is this worthy of its own thread? because he is a legend in the IWC, you can't deny that. Can so. Note to self: All you have to do to become a "legend" is write up a bunch of reviews where you brainwash a whole herd of mindless people to think exactly like you, while at the same time inserting various inaccurate facts to back up your stupid opinion. What's next, a thread about what brand toothpaste he uses?
  3. Maybe I'm just jaded because I've seen / have just about every PPV from this era ... but I don't see the big deal about these old shows coming out on DVD - ESPECIALLY if there's no new footage added on. Give me something I haven't seen a billion times over.
  4. Arn & Tully is what all other teams aspired to be in the late 80s. Demolition, much like the LOD before them, didn't need to be good workers. They made money because fans wanted to see them beat people up, period. The Rougeaus were about 10 years too early. They would have mega heat right now. Could wrestle and talk and the fans HATED them. Pure gold. Had they not been surrounded by much larger teams, they easily could have worn the gold in 89. Knock the Orient Express all you want but when they weren't being squashed by LOD, they were pulling off GREAT matches on a nightly basis against the Rockers for over a year. Rumble 91, nuff said.
  5. Who ... the fuck ... cares? How is this worthy of its own thread?
  6. You're downloading the SNME match. More on the Ironman tag matches: WWF @ Montreal, Quebec - Forum - August 4, 1989 Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty defeated Jacques & Raymond Rougeau in a 60-minute Marathon Match, 3-2 in overtime WWF @ Chicago, IL - Rosemont Horizon - August 6, 1989 Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty vs. Jacques & Raymond Rougeau (marathon match) WWF @ Philadelphia, PA - Spectrum - August 19, 1989 Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty defeated Jacques & Raymond Rougeau in sudden death overtime in a 60-minute marathon match WWF @ Boston, MA - Boston Garden - September 9, 1989 Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty defeated Jacques & Raymond Rougeau in a 60-minute marathon match, 3 falls to 2; Shawn Michaels clotheslined Jacques to win the deciding fall in overtime Bret and Owen had a number of no holds barred matches that all ended with Bret getting the win with the Shooter. Nothing really to write home about when compared to their other more technical matches. One was featured on Raw 6 days before WrestleMania 11 and another ended up on CHV.
  7. Souled Out 2000
  8. To add to that, although it was never announced, I believe it was Dusty who wanted Rick Steiner to take the title off Flair at this show in a total squash. We're talking 30 seconds.
  9. Think I saw him use a double underhook into a backbreaker to set that move up. Sasaki Sullivan Flair Bill Murray
  10. Because Nash and Hall had just gave notice that they were heading to WCW and Vince was after any big name guy he could get. That could be one factor but Vince has made it well known that he'll hire / re-hire anyone if he thinks they can make money for him.
  11. Lucky me, I think I was there for Nash's first match back. He and Hall were on hand in Phoenix the day after Havoc 99 and were told they had to wrestle. Nash "But I'm retired!" Then the two had a little play argument where Nash threatened to kick Hall in the shin and Hall responded with "Man, I'll pinch you so hard!" As it turned out, they had to "wrestle" a bunch of top heavy porn star chicks...
  12. Wasn't too into it when the previews started running but it's won me over. Plus, I'm a Hugh Jackman / Kate Beckinsdale fan. Are these the same critics that hated the Punisher?
  13. It ended as it should have. People don't watch Friends to feel bad, they watch it to feel good. And that was a feel-good way to end the series.
  14. While it's possible the Bash might bomb, that's not a fair comparison. Tuesday in Texas had 6 days of hype and unless you actually saw Survivor Series you missed out on a lot of the build up right there. The Bash will have at least a month to build itself on free TV and will offer completely different talent than the Raw PPV. It's not like you're seeing Tito, Dibiase, Virgil, Skinner, Bret, and Hogan vs. Taker twice in a week.
  15. I think that's just an opinion. Just because Shawn trash talked Bret doesn't mean he was turning heel ... hell, Bret was trash talking Shawn at the same time. Had the Mania match happened, would one of them have turned heel? Maybe. Would it have been Shawn? ... Doubt it. I don't have an exact time and date, down to the second, of when the whole double switch with Austin was planned, but I think it was set up pretty soon after Bret returned.
  16. The Savage / Hogan rivalry did in part lead to the Wolfpac but Nash's relationship with Hogan I think played the bigger part. There was tension between the two off and on for over a year before Nash interfered in the Sting / Savage match at Spring Stampede, thus putting the belt on Savage and more or less slapping Hogan in the face. This was after Nash & Hogan beat Piper & Giant in a baseball bat match earlier in the night. The bat match and the build up played up the fact that Hogan and Nash couldn't trust one another.
  17. WWF @ East Rutherford, NJ - Meadowlands - July 8, 1994 WWF World Champion Bret Hart defeated Owen Hart in a 60-minute Ironman match, 3 falls to 2 WWF @ Long Island, NY - Nassau Coliseum - July 9, 1994 WWF World Champion Bret Hart defeated Owen Hart with the Sharpshooter in sudden death overtime of a 60-minute marathon match; results of falls: Bret pinned Owen at 35:31 by reversing a sunset flip, Owen won via submission to a figure-4 at 43:58, Owen won via submission to a figure-4 at 46:08, Bret won via submission with the Sharpshooter at 53:45, Bret won via submission with the Sharpshooter at 1:08:23 WWF @ Los Angeles, CA - Great Western Forum - July 29, 1994 WWF World Champion Bret Hart defeated Owen Hart in sudden death of a 60-minute Ironman match, 2 falls to 1 WWF @ Philadelphia, PA - Spectrum - August 6, 1994 WWF World Champion Bret Hart defeated Owen Hart in a 60-minute Ironman match, 2 falls to 1 The fan cam is from Nassau. Doubt the WWF has any footage of it - otherwise I'm sure we would all know of it by now.
  18. Which leads me to believe it was a last minute decision or at least it was made so quickly that they couldn't get a cameraman for the show.
  19. Not sure exactly when Vince decided to take the straps off the Shrinkers but the Raw taping prior to Summer Slam was held two weeks before the PPV with the next taping not taking place until late September. I think the decision was made after the initial taping and Vince didn't want to wait another month to crown new champions. Also, with Shawn & Diesel being on Regis the morning of the PPV - it added some unexpected excitement to the build up of the show. ... And you have a handheld footage from that week? ... We need to talk
  20. Don't know why I didn't think of this before ... but the next time I watch Chappelle Show, I'll have Jake in mind. "Is this the 5 o'clock free crack giveaway?!?!"
  21. Not too sure about the validity of that. I have records of the two teams meeting twice, both at house shows, during LOD's title run. The Raw match took place after they dropped the belts.
  22. Zbyszko had been feuding with Hall since the fall. Because he beat Bischoff at Starrcade, he earned the match with Hall at Souled Out. And yes, that was when Dusty turned.
  23. I think life on the road makes the years blend together for a lot of the guys so don't hold it against Patterson. I think in most cases, we as fans have a better idea of who they've faced in their career than they do.
  24. Someone on the KM message board indicated that an Observer from the time period said this was the first Rumble and, in it, Dave compared the concept to a battle royal / blood-less Wargames. WWF @ St. Louis, MO - October 4, 1987 WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan pinned the One Man Gang The Junkyard Dog won a Royal Rumble match (the first ever Royal Rumble) No clue of the participants or how many were involved.
  25. What's wrong with that? Even on the throw away PPVs it's been done and done well - Jericho / Rock for instance.
