The OAO TSM "Happy Birthday, you!" Thread
DrVenkman PhD replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in No Holds Barred
Happy Birthday Dandy~! Who are we to doubt it? -
I just dawned on me that at 27 I'm the old man of the moderating team, replacing alkeiper (though we were - barely - born in the same year).
-
I don't recall that at all. I just remember this theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mB323bn3K2E

The Marvelous Marc Mero theme (which is awesome) was production music. This is why it's not on the SummerSlam 98 DVD. WCW used it as Renegade's theme.

So did anyone sign up for this and get a birthday surprise? -
Why? It ain't no make believe that someone could find it catchy. Wrestling music being a riff of something else makes it even more catchy!

I can't believe they took the time to semi-passably edit the sign the kid that won the SummerSlam 97 million dollar contest was carrying around the airport or whatever to say "WWE". Normally they just blur signs. It was actually pretty funny. Something I don't think I've noticed before about SummerSlam 97 (or may have years ago, then forgot) was when they talk about the other contest winner with the shaved head, they show a newspaper. The "Journal Courier" lists this man as the top headline, "Wrestling Fan Loses Sleep Over Contest". Apparently this was bigger news than the story they had to publish below - "15 KILLED IN BOMBING". I'm not sure if this is what you guys are talking about with the K-Mart double disc deals for recent PPVs, but I noticed a print ad noting that the previously UK-only concept of "Tagged Classics" is in the US now with a "Backlash 2003 / Judgment Day 2003" package (THOSE are tagged classics?). No Way Out 2003 is involved in this somehow too but I forget what exactly all the pairings are.

I like that his suit has a Two-Face type pattern with large claw-like rips on the back. I could never pull that off.

A Blue Mod Group Special! Both treble and VX celebrate their birthday today while moderator favourite Enigma also turns a year older. -
They cut a minis match off of Bad Blood 97 before too. Who knows why - I wish they were more open about these things as the 24/7 online crew seems very subscriber friendly. I used to converse with a producer (he contacted me after some poor reporting went down over why an episode of Nitro from June 97 didn't air) and we had some contact but he made it clear his bosses frowned on it.

I don't think Maple Leaf has anything to do with tuna so I'm sure I'll be fine. I did get really sick after eating Swiss Chalet last night though, that was odd.

What if Evan Bourne's favourite match is ROH's Steelcage Warefare from December 2005

Discussion: WWE Scramblemania~!
DrVenkman PhD replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
This is culled from CTDWAT but I thought, hey, this is a big experiment that WWE is trying and it probably warrants some discussion, especially with the zany of list of participants. Do you like this match idea? What do or do you not like about this concept? Is it being overused? Does Michael Cole stating 100 times "the champion can't possibly win" mean no one loses? Discuss! -
Sometimes I hear "The Brian Kendrick" as "B. Brian Kendrick", like B. Brian Blair, which I often thought was "Bee Brian Blair". Not sure what that has to do with anything.

And the kids will still love him and buy his stuff. That's what matters. -

Cogeco was doing SO GOOD here... and today, they failed. I really wanted to watch Judgment Day too (at the very least, Shawn vs. Jericho). Edit: Everything is there now though. -
Man, dude can't catch a break. Except for his body parts.

That makes more sense. I was wondering why you thought I was going to "get on you" for pointing out spoilers.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

I watched that episode of the Mario Supershow at a friend's house recently. Good times. -
I think it had a low quality video camera. And advertised Stridex.
-
I think I missed the vote on this.

Domino's Pizza sponsored SummerSlam 94 but their logo wasn't plastered all over the place. I think Vince made exactly one commentary reference to it. Good enough though since we had a Dominator pizza at the SummerSlam party. SummerSlam 95 has a big Stridex logo in the show's logo. I remembered the 1996 Karate Fighters tournament (and recently relived it on 24/7) but had no memory of a 1997 edition until I searched for a youtube video of "Lazer Tag: The Mission to Save Marc Mero" after seeing it on 24/7. What a silly piece of business that was.

Dave Meltzer has long believed / suggested that the Raw audience won George Bush the 2000 election due to that.
-
People are trying to figure out what Sanders has to gain in this - the 6 year statute for any potential backpayments will long since have expired by the time this gets into court. Raven will also be at 6 years in 2009 as well. It's a noble cause, I suppose.

mellow was entitled to his opinion about DarKnight's opinion being BS and didn't read "Bitch, please..." in the context it was used as anything vengeful. If he had said "Oh come on you stupid son of a bitch" or something, maybe. Anyway, the point here is please don't make a federal case out of it (Noah), just go with it and continue on-track discussion. Thanks.
