  1. It is funny how Gamecube is far and away the best system, yet has the worst sales. Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil 4, F-Zero GX, Zelda, Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2, Super Monkey Ball 1, Super Monkey Ball 2, RE 0, RE Remake, Mairo Kart.. Nothing on PS2 can compete with that except for FFX and maybe GTA:SA. And I wouldn't buy PSP if it was $50. Why buy a system so you can play worse games at the same price on a smaller screen?
  2. If Shawn was good at selling a match maybe he wouldn't have been one of the worst drawing Champions of all time. He didn't do so bad as a heel, did he?
  3. His promo when he turned heel after Summerslam97 was better than anything HHH's ever done. So were most of his promos in DX.
  4. Janetty said they were fine tuning their matches for weeks and had it down so perfect, the house show match they had on the night before the Rumble was the best match he had ever had. He called it the greatest experience in his career. Then at the Rumble, WWF decided that day to put Sherri in the match and according to Marty, it threw the entire rhythm of the match off. They had to set up new spots and it wasn't what they had been doing. After the match, Vince told them he was very disappointed and it wasn't even close to what he expected. Marty said he was surprised, he thought it was so-so, not as good as they were doing, but not that bad. Then he ended up getting released over it because Shawn told that Vince Marty was drunk. Heh, I don't know how they managed to patch up all that bad blood.
  5. 1. When Kurt Met Christy 2. Braveheart 3. Taxi Driver 4. A Few Good Men 5. Forrest Gump 6. Basic Instinct 7. Pulp Fiction 8. Dirty Harry
  6. Adding to that, Batista seems like a nice guy in real life while Orton seems like a giant douche bag. I wouldn't have a problem with Batista winning, I don't want him to but I'd be okay with it. He's also got better mic skills than Orton and he's more over than Orton could ever dream of being. At least he's no worse than Orton, Brock, or Goldberg.
  7. Amen. And if no superstar like that comes along, as sad as that would be, then he should retire with the streak unbroken. But who gives a fuck? Like Nash, Orton sucks and will never be an Austin, a Rock, or a HHH. Not to repeat what 100 other people in this thread said, but it would be a waste.
  8. Regal is very boring and I don't think has had one good match since coming into the WWE. Helms isn't that good. Val Venis is average, I've never seen him have a match as good as Angle/Jannetty, much less the best Rockers matches or Marty's matches with Shawn. And I'm going off on Jannetty because I remember how great he used to be and 10 years after the last time I've seen him, it looks like he hasn't lost a step.

  10. Fuck yes. And thank god he's on RAW so I don't have to sit through Smackdown every week. Well since Jannetty is much better than them, it makes perfect sense to me that they have to job to him now. I'm hoping a friendship with Shawn can keep him on Raw and get him a better run than Mr Perfect had.
  11. Because he's the greatest wrestler of all time. Haven't you been paying attention? Edit: Good a time to ask as any. Does anybody still have that pic of Flair bowing to Orton? I loved that pic and need a new background.
  12. Definitely Song of Ice and Fire. I've never met a single person that read it and didn't love it. The first book is Game of Thrones. Here's some posts from a different board to make you want to read it.
  13. Awesome post. I wish I would've typed that.
  14. He doesn't do a rockers style kip-up every night though. He isn't used to going down and popping right back up. At least they botched it together. And who the hell says "eh" to a Rockers reunion? Eh... a Rockers match, you know we just had one of those about 13 YEARS AGO.
  15. Sorry, but comparing Marty Jannetty to true legends like Ric Flair and Terry Funk is a bit of a reach. Name recognition alone would leave MJ in the dust. People like/tolerate Flair because of what he brings to the table in terms of longevity, notoriety, legendary status, etc. Jannetty, unfortunately, will always be known as the guy who wasn't HBK. I agree. Seriously, people on these forums are usually pretty on the ball, but nostalgia seems to be blinding their judgment today. It was fine for one-off thing on RAW; anything further than that would be stretching it. Give it a couple of weeks and the excitement about seeing a childhood wrestler would fizzle out. Same thing happened with Hennig after RR 02. However, I'm not opposed to a brief Rockers tag title reign, ending with them putting over a new team (NOT La Resistance's 38th reign). It was more of WWE not using him right and making a joke out of him than it was nostalgia wearing off. All they had to was show the old Mr Perfect videos to get people to know him and maybe make some new ones. That's all. A winning streak wouldn't have hurt either. Instead they have Kane and Austin squash him and show skits of him cheating to win at chess games. After a couple weeks of that, he looked like he didn't care anymore. On the other side, look at what happened to Goldust after RR02. He turned into one of the most entertaining and over guys in the company. That is until they destroyed his character with the tourettes gimmick.
  16. Yes he was. I think you're the only one on the entire internet not impressed, Mole. And Marty needs to keep his full outfit as long as he's around. Anything that separates him from other wrestlers, even the tassles, is a good thing. I'm tired of everyone looking the same. I wonder if Marty busted out his top rope power bomb from 1995. I guess not, heh.

  18. Salem's Lot by King. I'm taking a break from DT5 to find out what's the deal about Father Callahan. I'm glad I did it because it's a good book, although I'm 400 pages into it and Callahan has barely been mentioned.
  19. I hope so. This could actually get me to start watching every week again.
  20. Why isn't the bible thread in the classics folder?
  21. Rob will never draw. If he ever had to wrestle a match that is over 8 minutes, the fans would sit on their hands. All he can do is gimmick matches, and every ECW match is a gimmick match. He very much like Christian in that way. And thats also why Christian would never draw. This is as almost as dumb as HHH's comments on the last page. Get the DVD and watch KOTR 2002 with Jericho and look at the fans sitting on their hands 15 minutes into the match. Oh wait, they're not, they're screaming RVD! Most ECW matches after they started having PPVs weren't gimmick matches, unless you call one dive into the crowd or hitting someone in the head with a chair a gimmick match. Have you ever seen ECW?
  22. Press the audio button on the remote. It says it on the little paper that came with it. Look at the top of this page for the easter eggs.
  23. Here's some quotes from the RVD/Sabu match commentary for the people that didn't get the DVD. Paul: Now when the ring broke and you guys took it outside of the ring, this can't be part of the match that you even had in mind. and it's obvious that you guys were thinking on your feet and you're saying "ok, what do i do, what weapons can i find, what positions i can dive off next" RVD: Anything goes in ecw, that was the beauty of it. We were not held back by anything. It was like, we were actually artists out there able to express ourselves. And to be able to do that on the spot, to be able to feed off the crowd, at the moment you're able to change with the emotion of the crowd, that takes a lot of freedom and it was a beautiful thing. ---- RVD: You know the way I looked at it back then, and I still do but from a different perspective, that time in the ring underneath the spotlight, that is the time for us to showcase and to display our abilities. Someone like RVD you can't really display your abilities in a total of 5 minutes. I can't show what I got. Back here, it was no holding back and we still come back the next time and out-do ourselves. ---- Paul: Again to me, it was all about the work ethic. Everybody thought ECW was about tables, and chairs, and ladders, and barbed wire, and fire, but to us.... I think a lot of people to this day misunderstand that to us hardcore and extreme was all about the work ethic, the willingness to do this at 1:00 in the morning in a broken ring and then to improvise and take your battle plan into a totally different perspective and environment because it was all about giving the people their money's worth. It was all about more bang for the buck. RVD: Absolutely. And from the competitiors' perspective, the extreme part came to me as that extra bit we were able to go. Being extreme meant you could go out all out for the fans. And that was the way to best showcase us, that's where we belong, in a hardcore environment. When I came into WWE, I had the hardcore title, that was the most ECW-esque that I could be within the new parameters, and that was my favorite time too. As far as being out there and being creative and entertaining the fans. --- Paul: "This is just now two guys beating the crap out of each other. And to me, if you guys had ended this match as soon as that DDT through the table took place, I think the audience would have been most forgiving. I think the audience would've been appreciative, they would have given you both a standing ovation, chanted both your names. Again, here... (2 count) RVD: We weren't done. Paul: But that's the point, is that you weren't done. The work ethic was all about giving more, more, more to the audience. I mean, now you've been in the ring for several minutes, you're probably 15-20 minutes into the match. It's 1:10, 1:15 in the morning, and yet you guys are just hammering each other, and you keep going and going and going in front of an audience that would have accepted the match to be over with by now. and they're getting off on the fact that it's more, more, more. RVD: Yep, that's what extreme means to me. These are two tough guys here. You know neither one of these guys are going to get beat in a few minutes with a roll up.
  24. Jesus, HHH really thinks RVD isn't a top guy just because he's not popular enough.... How?
  25. That would never work because as soon as he started getting cheered, they would make him turn into a typical babyface. Just like they do with every heel except for Austin and Rock. But he can. Case in point, KOTR 2002 with Jericho. He's not the best at it, but he was doing pretty well for a guy that had to change his whole style a year before that. I'm sure he would've got even better at it and will get better if they ever decide to use him.
