Again with this argument? You act as if it's every single team in MLB that does this, when it's clearly not. I'll repeat myself again. Just because you HAVE the money to buy an All-Star doesn't mean you SHOULD. How soon until Steinbrenner ships $250 million to San Francisco, demanding Barry Bonds in return. Don't be shocked if it happens. We can solve this with a *gasp* Salary Cap - but then Yankee fans will start screaming about how unfair it is and how if this happens, the apocalypse will surely follow......even though it works for the other sports already. And please, PLEASE, don't say Steinbrenner is giving the city a winner. He is doing it for absolutely nobody else's benefit but himself.

Like Pettite, Jeter, Soriano, Johnson, Posada, Rivera or Williams? 7 out of how many? Take those seven off-specifically Andy, Derek and Mo- and what the fuck do you have? Looking at this season? From Opening Day....Well.... Giambi Ventura Boone Matsui Clemens Wells Weaver Contreras Hammond Mussina Nelson Sojo Mondesi -and whoever I forgot. Wanna play *COUNT THE ALL-STARS* ? Not everybody there is great, or even good - but Georgie Boy didn't know that when he was wildly pissing his money away or trading away prospects for money and established stars - just because he can.

It'd be a lot easier if there was just a damn sarcasm button on the board.

I keep forgetting about George's mind control powers. You know, the ones he uses to stop the other 29 owners from spending money or selling the team to someone will How exactly does he activate them? If other teams (not all. Admittedly, some owners are just greedy) don't have the money, how can they be expected to spend? By selling to someone who will. So he should fire everyone and put out a team of monkies next year, to ensure that his team sucks and someone else will win. Shrewd business move. You have a habit of putting words in people's mouths. Color me shocked. Making teams competitive means that you might not have to necessarily pick up that multi-time All Star who's a free agent because you have more than any other team already. It means putting unestablished players from the farm system on the field, building them up, letting them get a chance to play and prove themselves. You'll still have Jeter, Giambi, Soriano, Matsui...the draws....and then you'll be building up new players at the same time. Win-win situation. Certainly seems like a shrewd move to me. But wait, then the Yankees MIGHT NOT WIN ! OH MY GOD !! WHAT A HORRIBLE POSSIBILITY ! How can all these front-running Yankee fans live ?!?! The Yankees isn't about making the team better for the fans, or for the benefit of baseball. It's a big egofuck for Georgie Boy because he gets to win and win, over and over. Anybody who can't see that is just blind. And then, years later when he sells the team because he wants to give up the stress, the Yankees will be screwed over because they have all these old players and didn't take the time to build up anybody But by then, all these baseball fans might just not give a damn anymore.

Like Pettite, Jeter, Soriano, Johnson, Posada, Rivera or Williams? 7 out of how many? And we already went over ther Soriano case. Not exactly a home-grown talent. Amd it's not really fair to include Johnson on the list, if we're going over GOOD players. Giambi is the star first-baseman that Georgie Boy pissed away money to get. Johnson is just on first because Giambi sucks a big one in the field. Johnson is strictly average.

If other teams (not all. Admittedly, some owners are just greedy) don't have the money, how can they be expected to spend? And just because you CAN piss away all your money in a pathetic attempt to win doesn't mean you should. I could take my next door neighbor - a senior citizen - and push him face first into the cement. I COULD do it, but I don't. There comes a time when Georgie Boy has got to realize that this sport needs to be about competition. He's destroying the sport by doing this every year. How could you not see this? If i was a Minnesota fan, I would be EXTREMELY pissed off right now. They don't have a quarter of the resources the Yankees do. How is this good for the sport?
-
See, that response proves what's wrong with the Yankees, and baseball as a whole. He shouldn't be ABLE to overspend. It ruins the sport.

Well, it's Steinbrenner's fault that he is a dumbass and prefers RESULTS NOW, instead of possible results later. They had just a little, weak hole at third base and they needed to plug it up with an ALL-STAR. Why?! What happened to using your farm system? How many other teams could trade a prospect and get back an ALL-STAR in return? And I may be wrong here, but wasn't the Yankees giving money part of the deal too? It was just another indication of the bloated payroll the Yankees have and how they could do what almost no other team can - you know, like what happened with Raul Mondesi LAST SEASON. And they do buy Championships. Jose Contreras for 32 million? Mike Mussina for how much? Stealing David Wells from a handshake with the Diamondbacks? Giving Soriano $1 million dollars while he was playing in the Dominican - what other team can afford to give such an unestablished player a MILLION dollars?! Don't believe the Yankee propaganda bullshit. Many other teams scouted Soriano. They were the only ones that could sign such an unproven player to a million dollar contract. Don't give me the bullshit that they know how to spend their money, which is why their successful. They're successful because they have the unbelievable amount of money to piss away. $80 million over the #2 team is inexcusable when you're trying to build a competitive sport. Inexcusable!

The New York Yankees are the Triple-H of Major League Baseball. With their money, they buy their way to the top and, when they face trouble, they just use more money to get what they want, although it might have a negative effect on the rest of the sport. Triple H = sexes Steph up on his way to the top, with no regard for competition and the benefit of the sport. Yankees = buys their way to the top, with no regard for the competition and the benefit of the sport. What in the hell is the difference?

Yankees in the World Series is not always good. Within a few years, Boston fans will be tuning out. Oakland fans will be tuning out. Minnesota, Chicago White Sox, Seattle, all these teams will be tuning out because it's practically set in stone that the Yankees will win. When they have SUCH an advantage in payroll, allowing them to buy All Star after All Star, people WILL tune out. A HATE for the Yankees isn't good for baseball business. Neither is buying Aaron Boone, just because you have a tiny weak hole in your lineup. And yes, looking at Boston, I DO want them there. It's something new. And I think you're underestimating my complete and utter disgust at the New York Yankees organization. They can't keep doing this every year, because interest will plummet. It already has.

Gail Kim:"Hurricanrana!" *Gail Kim hits a hurricanrana on Lita with Gail nearly breaking her own neck and Lita flies over awkwardly onto her ribs* Trish: Bulldog! Jackie Gayda: What the fuck is that? *flops to the mat*

Right. It's good for baseball that the same team is in the World Series for the AL every year, thus alientating all these other cities and their teams (Anaheim was a fluke). And yes, it's good for baseball that the Yankees can have a team of All-Stars, beating the next team in payroll by nearly $80 million, making many baseball games uncompetitive. And yes, the Yankees are good for baseball because, I know, there's nothing every fan loves more(besides a Yankee fan) then the same team winning every year. Unpredictability makes sports popular, which is why the Superbowl always generates more interest than the World Series. The Yankees winning the AL East division every year, and representing the AL in the World Series every year, isn't too unpredictable. It just drives people away from watching. Just like you're sick of stale WWE storylines, many baseball fans are tired of the same stale teams going far - i.e. The Yankees. So explain to me, please, how they are good for the sport. A few more years of them winning it, or them just getting to the World Series every year, will gradually start to destroy the sport.

Funny. I get the feeling this won't apply for Shane McMahon matches....he'll be able to do his huge spots to pop the crowd and make all the wrestlers look bad, but they won't have enough time to plan something of their own to top him. It had to have pissed Vince off a little that RVD/Christian/Jericho did that stacked electric-chair-drop/powerbomb in that match, trying to overshadow Shane's PLUMMET-OF-DOOM-WELL-NOT-REALLY!
-
Ah, I fucking hate Derek Jeter. Such a cocky prick - which makes it 10 times sweeter when he loses in the playoffs and has that angry, dejected look on his orangutan face. Man, what I would do to see him have that face again this season. I hate the Yankees with such a passion that it's amazing. I can't deal with another parade and have all these front-runners cutting work and skipping school just to go. At this point, I don't care if it's the Red Sox, Cubs, or Marlins. For the future of baseball, the Yankees must lose this year again.
-
Nah, Manny. Don't take your time at the plate. Go have a good sit. Wouldn't want to bother you by asking you to wait past the second pitch of a shaky David Wells. Fucking idiot. He'll hit a homerun when it means absolutely SHIT, but can't come through in the clutch. But I'm not surprised. This whole team is about failing in the clutch.
-
Why have Booker/Jericho when you can have Goldberg/Henry? It's like comparing hamburger to filet mignon.
-
I'll tell you what will happen EC F'N Dub style 2 minutes into the match we shall have a run in by the La Resistence, then 2 minutes later it will be Christian and Jericho then 3 minutes later the ring will empty then Hurricane and SHIT will run in which will result in Ron Conway pinning SHIT for the match. So Raw will end with the crowd and TV audience watching SHIT in the ring? Not surprised.

Is Dreamer a hoss? Is he a "established" WWE veteran? Does he have more than 3 moves? Is he the next ROCK BLUE CHIPPER FUTURE, BY GAWD ?! If your answers were no, no, yes, and no....then you know why he's not there.
-
*GobbledyGooker* runs out. Dances in front of Goldberg. Leaves. .....Would make more sense than the rest of this show.
-
Soap Opera WWE Writer: Spears? Do people use those anymore? Why didn't Goldberg just try to use a knife? More realistic....
-
Yeah, you're right. Austin's running out of guys to beat the shit out of.
-
I still think the limo tried to run over Goldberg by itself. Like Christine. Limo: Fucking Goldberg punched in my windows for the last time. *VROOM VROOM*

Are we assuming that management is saying the entire truth by blaming it on a wrestler instead of the boss' son ? I know if I was in the position of seeing a screwup at work and: a) either blaming it on an employee or b) blaming it on the son of the boss, I'd pick a. Just because management chose not to blame Shane doesn't mean it's not his fault. He couldn't have shifted his body over wrongly and landed on Test's foot? Test MUST have moved his foot the wrong time? Right. As far as I can remember, as stoned as RVD may be sometimes, I don't recall him breaking SOMEONE ELSE'S foot doing a Van-Terminator. But then again, I'm not Vince, so I must not see how stealing another guy's move and giving it to a non-wrestler is beneficial to the company.

Eh, no bother. 95% of New Yorkers hate Bloomberg anyway, but he prefers to stick his fingers in his ears and act as if he's much more popular than he actually is. 2 more years and he'll be out of office. Although, I find it hilarious he thinks he'll be elected for 4 more years. If New York City had a recall law, Bloomberg would have been gone long ago. So, his opinion on "Pedro should not push a man down who is charging at him like an obese rhino, although this 72 year old can still inflict damage with a punch to the nose" doesn't affect me at all. I'm a New Yorker (although a Mets fan) and I find the bias in the newspapers sickening. Pedro must defend himself as all others do when they are in danger of being attacked. A punch in the face from Zimmer can still break a nose, or knock a guy down. He's not entirely weak. If he's stupid enough to charge the mound, he should have gotten a good smack in the head. Stay the fuck off the field if you don't want your ass rolling around the field. So let Bloomberg jump on this ridiculous bandwagon. When an 80-year-old New Yorker tries to whack Bloomberg with a cane because he's getting screwed over by these constant tax increases, let's see Bloomberg stand there and take the abuse. It's human nature to defend yourself and that's all Pedro did. He could have done a lot - A LOT - worse.

This will now be used as another reason RVD shouldn't be pushed. Even though RVD didn't actually, you know, DO the move....it's still his so he must be considered responsible, right? And fuck Shane McMahon. Like I said in another topic, it's total disrespect for him to be using a finishing move of a guy in the same company - not to mention, even in the same match!! It's time somebody ends this McMahon Ego-Fuck. It's out of control. On the bright side, this should make for a good topic when RVD makes another appearance on the radio.
