  1. wow, Lebron. damn. It's over for the Pistons I think, I dont see yet another 3-2 comeback. Ironically it was defense that failed them, I think Lebron had like 3 open dunks in regulation and OTs. Plan B, Billups + Hamilton + young guy or draft pick for Kobe!!! What, a guy can dream, right?
  2. Notice both regulation and OT1 ended with horrible coaching. That was a horrendous final play of regulation for the Pistons and now the Cavs with the timeouts. I'm reminded of Bill Simmons' recent column/blog/whatever, where he's comparing the coaching of mike brown and flip saunders and how they're trying to outdo each other in suckage. This game makes me think of that column.
  3. this, in hindsight, seems like more of a ploy to force the Lakers to make a real move than him actually leaving.
  4. the Lakers organization has passed up a pretty good amount of free agents and trade requests of good players (particularly the latter), I'd be irritated too if they'd promised me serious moves to be a contender, and instead stood around and rolled the dice with guys like Smush Parker and Luke Walton.
  5. IF the Pistons lose 2 straight to the Cavs and get bounced, I would totally support breaking up the Pistons "unit" to get him. Sign and trade Billups plus one or two more players?
  6. Lucas and his companies really like screwing around in that prequel era. FUCK that. Give us an honest to god Star Wars sequel game, start after Return of the Jedi, have all the f'ing "lovable" characters, tell a real star wars story involving those guys. Fuck, I'll guarantee Mark Hammil will do voice acting for it. Frankly imo the only holdout will be harrison ford. how about grand admiral thrawn as the damn villian?
  7. i dunno i think it'll be good. but then again i like bowling for columbine and thought f9/11 was ok.
  8. i think it'd be funny if they just put some random name in there that has no bearing on who the body in the coffin actually is.
  9. I thought it was damn entertaining, and more focused than the entertaining-yet-sloppy part 2. Lots of funny moments, and the fight across the whirlpool was insane. Also thought the ending of Will/Elizabeth was surprisingly bold. Depp was awesome as usual, and I thought it was kooky brilliant seeing him go a little mad and how he thinks (with the imaginary Jacks). Oh and we can't forget BARBOSA!!! Barbosa is awesome, the ultimate pirate, its worth it alone just to hear him do the piratey yaahahahahaa scream.
  10. If Sideshow Bob hadn't been flopping the whole damn game, I do think he'da gotten the call there. That's the thing with wild floppers, eventually you get into the ref's head and they dont know whether its legit or a flop, and if they have the feeling they've been fooled a few times, they'll go the other way.
  11. games only get decided on those sort of ticky tack nonsense when Dick Bavetta refs. edit: that's probalby not entirely true but whatever, Dick Bavetta sucks. Varajeou is the biggest flopper i've ever seen.
  12. I dunno, I thought I detected a "wtf" reaction on the doctor's face when Jack mentioned his father - its possible that Christian is dead, and that was a drug-induced reaction, I half expected the doc to say "Jack, your father's dead!"
  13. I'm so happy the Others got a royal asskicking this episode. I don't even care if they turn out to the "good guys", characters that lame are always bad guys. Hurley with the DHARMA van!!!!! Jack with the fists of fury! HELLLL YESSSSSSS! Make Ben your bitttchh!!
  14. You know what would be a crazy new direction for the show, if it picks up in the future, and Jack has to re-unite all the Losties to go save the island from whoever the other group is - making them the new Others.
  15. Outstanding. Out f'ing standing. THE OTHERS get beaten!!!!!! Poor Charlie I will say that I called the flashback thing being a flashforward right at the first scene when Jack gets the look on his face with the turbulence. there was a real TomHanks-Castaway-post-return vibe to his flashbacks, plus once you catch on to the writers, you start picking up their little tricks, but that's not a criticism, it was still good because the flashbacks were doubly interesting to me. The "friend or family? Neither" line makes me think the funeral is for SAWYER. It makes sense too, there's nobody else who cares to go see him. Great great episode. I liked how they wrapped up a whole bunch of miscellaneous stuff, leaving us back with the central question: what's with the true nature of the island and why can't they get rescued.
  16. Boozer, Kidd, Deron, and Tay are excellent choices, the kind of all around bball players that are needed. Though its hard to see how they're going to winnow everybody down to a good team.
  17. what's the word on him? a shot in the dark? as good as Yao? potential to be better than Yao? don't believe the hype? He's supposedly more of a KG/Dirk type than a Yao type. of course, so was Darko. You're always taking a risk on unproven (in the US) international talent no matter how good they look, but he's as good a pick as any for Chicago.
  18. LMAO at the Celtics (and I actually live in boston, have for two years only). Serves them right for that open tank job.
  19. Ever since Zack Snyder signed on, I've just gotten a bad vibe from the project, like a bad aura. By point of comparison, I was very optimistic when David Hayter was writing the script and planning on directing it - even after it was turned over to a different director with Hayter's script.
  20. I only watched parts of the game until the 4th quarter (which i watched), thanks to Heroes, but man that was an ugly game - and I'm a guy who usually likes watching the Pistons grind down other teams.
  21. I only saw the 4th quarter, but that was one ugly ass 4th quarter.
  22. Hiro going to Samurai Japan (was that lone warrior guy Kensei?) was hilarious. I'm guessing the Eclipse somehow bestows or activates the powers somehow. Though the show didn't quite follow their own rules by having Peter suddenly turn good... however, one could make the case that Hiro calling Nathan a bad man might have been the extra pebble - he only knew that because he time traveled and was thus "out of the timeline"
  23. the nba's Finals ratings problems are league-wide as a whole, not centered on San Antonio. The Mavs and the Heat managed to raise the average Finals rating........... a whopping 0.3 points, from 8.2 (Pistons/Spurs) to 8.5 (Mavs/Heat) - 2nd and 3rd lowest rated Finals. And that's with an "exciting" superstar D-Wade. Somehow I dont see the Cavs being the antidote.
  24. Damn. DAMN.
  25. My sister is finishing up her MBA and because of it has immediately lined up a high up exec job at Target (or the corporation that owns Target stores, whatever). Ryan's a little young, but that's the only conceit, I have no problem believing that an MBA got the job.
