WWE General Discussion - October 2008
LivingLegendGaryColeman replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
I was on Rajah.com and they had a newsbit where on Shad's MySpace he says the feud between Miz/Morrison and Cryme Tyme is real. Although there have seemed to be extra jabs, I'm not quite sure if I believe it, especially with how Cryme Tyme was let go the first time after acting upon legit heat with another team. For those interested, here is the Shad post (don't know if the censored wording was done by Shad or the Rajah site): -
Spider-man: Web of Shadows

That's pretty cool. What did he think of it? I know what you mean on the ridiculous backlog. I have picked up almost every major release since the spring and a lot of them have been sitting unplayed. Those I have hopped on, I get into and then fall away. Even one of my must plays, NBA 2K9, is still in the shrinkwrap. I'm usually a sucker for licensed titles, especially superheroes, so I push this ahead of games like Fable 2 and Saints Row 2 (which are both sitting on my shelf too). -
yeah. When E! first got the rights to the episodes, I thought there was promise because they were showing episodes from the 70s that I never saw on Comedy Central. The aired them a little while, made their own "101 Moments" show and then started showing the same few from the past couple seasons. I'd say those couple mentioned are the only ones I've seen as well as the Christina Aguilera and the Olsen Twins episode are on all the time.

I'm going to Cyber Sunday and I still don't want to pay $1 a vote. There's certain things I want to see, but nothing on the card screams I have to vote. I am tempted to vote for Evan Bourne because a Bourne/Hardy match could really pick up the show, but Cyber Sunday it doesn't matter what gets voted in, they will still incorporate who and what they want to (see Kane/Snitsky in 04, when the finish involved the gimmick they were pushing, not the gimmick that won) -

My guess on how Jericho goes over Sunday would be why they had JBL calling out Austin. JBL continued to mock Austin after he beat Haas, so maybe JBL comes out and distracts Austin, or takes Austin away leading to a regular ref comng to make the pinfall. -
Yeah, Raven definately had the most because he got made by two different WCW companies (San Fransisco Toy Makers and Toybiz), ECW, WWE and TNA. Douglas was in the ECW and Toybiz WCW, but no WWE. Sandman and Raven are the only two of the top of my head. Mike Awesome could be possible because he has ECW and WCW toys, so if he gets in the classic line, it is a possibility. Rhino and the Dudleys I believe were in ECW, WWE and TNA, so he gets a trifecta, just no WCW. Just like Nash and Jarrett had WWE, WCW and TNA.

it was to put over how life changing and horrifying the Hell in a Cell was. His last match was the Jericho/HHH HIAC where he was injured. They interviewed him on TV leading up to I believer Orton/Taker and he "committed suicide" on TV. On WWE.com they revealed he missed and then it was comedy that he kept trying unsuccessfully, until I think the final payoff was when it was implied he killed Josh Matthews.

Thanks for the Achievements list. Should be cool. I thought there was a story for CM Punk too. Does it just not have an achievement?

The Horowitz = jobs sign is golden. I was on WWE.com this morning and looked at the List This because sometimes they are kinda cool and have some cool thrown back moments. Not this one. Right now they are doing the Greatest Betrayal's in WWE History. Number 9 was Cody Rhodes turning on Hardcore Holly. Really? A tag team that albeit held the titles for a while, generally wasn't on TV during their reign? They have two more to go and only 1 wasn't in the past ten years. Some of them, like Austin turning heel against the Rock at Wrestlemania X-7 are classic moments, but I don't see that as a betrayal, as they weren't alligned. So, long story short, Rhodes turning on Holly and McMahon turning on Hornswoggle were some of the greatest betrayals in wrestling history. Right now, I'm screaming for even Tatanka's heel turn against Luger! -
That's awesome. You know, I don't remember the last time he was on TV. I think he should be repackaged as this character. Bright yellow suit, fake blonde mullet, speaks in a foreign language. Money.

The highlight feature could be cool. Do you know what edition of the game that is though? The case looks to be a PS3 one, so I am just wondering if that is the regular or special edition. I know the special edition last year was PS3 exclusive and had at least one bonus match, and this feature is listed under the Edge vs. Undertaker match. Just curious if this is this year's PS3 special edition and an exclusive feature.

This is one of my biggest complaints about the game and has been for years. To me, it just doesn't represent basketball very well. That's why I've been down on Live. On Super Nintendo and N64, those were my games. Since 2K5 though, its been 2K Sports for me. I picked up my copy tonight and about to head to bed, so I don't know when I will try it, but I think I will rent Live at some point this year. They added a lot of cool looking FIBA play that is exclusive, as well as the daily stat updates during the season will be pretty cool too. Roster updates since the online days have been nice, but daily stat update will be awesome for anyone who has a breakout season, or making people who choke during the year not be too good in the game.

Solid show. I laughed when they showed Punk's reaction to Ricky O's entrance. Kinda surprised Punk jobbed here. Not only did I expect a win for the face team, but Punk was the last guy I expected to eat the pin. -
To me, it seems a little more arcade-like and cartoony. I like the game-play and controls better on the 2k series too.

The Buscemi Mad Tea Party sketch?! I LOVE that one and haven't seen it in years!
-
I usually buy 2K9 right away, which I already have pre-ordered and then pick up Live if I can find it cheap enough down the road, like getting a brand new copy of Live 07 for $5. Live 09 has some cool stuff, new features, all the FIBA stuff, but I got to stick with the 2K personally. The only sad thing on the release this year is I pick it up right before I go out of town, so I don't think I will get to play it til next week.
-
Like I said before, I enjoyed the game more than I thought and ended up buying it today. I had some stuff to trade in at GameStop and with the current trade promotion and coupon I got it for $34.99 worth of credit, plus it also had the Bonus disc inside that GameStop was giving out. Picked up in story mode where I left off, in one of the most bizarre moments since Here Comes the Pain pizza problems, .

Comments that which don't warrant a thread
LivingLegendGaryColeman replied to a topic in Television & Film
That's ridiculous. The book that the movie is based on has been out for like 13 years, have they been picketing book stores. I'm never going to pick on someone strictly because of their handicaps, but this is stupid. If I see anyone picketing at a theater I go to with sunglasses and cane, I will tell them that is the coolest movie costume I have seen yet, but they don't look scary enough to be a real blind person. -
Even though Perfect definately needed at least three, I think at this stage in his career, with the matches he has been in a 3 Disc set is definately warranted. Kane, as much as I like him, I can't think of three discs of must have or compelling matches. I don't even want to get into all the segments - Katie Vick, The Courtship/Rape of Lita, May 19th...
-
Awesome. Thanks for the link. I will definately be spending much time using London, Kendrick and Yang. Looks like Hornswoggle is playable too. I wonder how that will work. Now, are there going to be legends this year? I wasn't sure if there still was with the whole Legends game coming, however, that is the only way Flair and Tazz really make sense.

That's awesome, but did they tell you that the band name wasn't "classy" enough for online? That's the message I got about the name of my band.

WWE General Discussion - September 2008
LivingLegendGaryColeman replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
Yeah, same here. He used to be the guy that looked like Jericho and the close-up glimpse I saw of him, he looked more like Jeff Jarrett to me. Kinda cool to see a blast from the past show up, even in a squash. Just getting to the main event now, kinda funny to hear Striker refer to King Mabel, then Grisham take a poke at it. I really enjoy Striker on commentary, kind of close to how much I enjoyed JBL on Smackdown. The only thing that bugs me with Striker is when he randomly takes political jabs he seems to take every week that usually seem bizarre and out of place. -
That's exactly what I was thinking. It was bad enough they yanked the Sonics, but now everything about them, the logo, the name and the uniform looks like a team you would find in the local Parks and Recreation league.

I know Mick wasn't happy when he left, but I am a little surprised he would risk burning bridges by those little jabs at Vince. Then again, they were small comments and people have come back that have done worse.
