More than a few. The arcade game ruled all back in the day, though I didn;t like Voyager very much.

    This week in the NBA

I have to give props to Memphis tonight. They fought and battled and could have gone in the tank, but they didn't. If Pau Gasol develops a consistent mid range game, he will be nigh unstoppable. And if there was ever a staement game for his All-Star bid, Chauncey did it tonight.

Okay, I am a sucker for Star Trek and TNG, but I dunno.... I guess since they don;t have very much programming surrounding games, they have to fill up the time somehow.... And no, Spike, you don't have a shot with her. Leena, the other girls could not be anywhere as sweetly sarcastic as Morgan. They were flat-out annoying trying to showoff their video game knowledge. They were okay on the eyes I guess, but that wore off soon after they started talking.

Iggy's college basketball rankings for 12/18/05

My stepfather was right about UConn this year... not that I thought they wouldn't do well, but to be ranked #2 this early is outstanding. I just wonder when that bump in the road is going to arrive, where they lose one or two games in the next few. Hopefully it doesn;t happen.

That's going to be interesting, because I am of the line of thinking that you just cannot get equal value for Artest. He may be crazy, but he does bring it on both ends of the floor. I feel bad for the Pacers, because they supported him wholeheartedly through everything, and he fucked them over.

    How good are the Pistons?

I will take all skill and no personality at any sport. I like how they're called boring because aside from Rasheed being a walking soundbite most of the time, the rest of the team is professional and handles their business. The national media has always underrated the Pistons since this run began. Hell, they were giving the title to the Lakers until the Pistons blew them out in 03.. then in 04, they were still slighted, though not to the degree that most Piston fans would have you believe, and they came within 10 minutes of winning that one too. This year, everyone and their mother are predicting the Spurs to repeat, and while I won;t argue too much about that because they are a phenomenal team, the Pistons (even at a record of 17-3) are flying under the radar again. By winning, they are forcing people in the media to talk about them, as they have the best record in the league. My personal opinion is that if they get the homecourt, their chances of winning the title back from the Spurs go way the hell up. I love watching them play as it is basketball how it was played back in the 60s, where almost everyone got to touch the ball and set up their teammates. That's why I loved the Showtime Lakers of the 80s, because while they all could put the ball in the basket, and they were not selfish. If Ben Wallace was more of a scoring threat, they would be the most unstoppable starting five of this era. Let everyone else go with the sexy, chic picks to win it all. I like my chances with the Pistons.

God I remember Starcade... thanks for making me feel old.... ::goes off to long for the simpler days where all that mattered was getting his allowance and going down to the arcade...::

I stand corrected.... Marbury had a 20 assist game?? When? Stats, man, give me stats! ::chuckles:: looks like no one is getting Brevin Knight... he is underrated, I will say that, though.

The writing on the wall for this channel was displayed when they fucked with a perfectly good show and got rid of Leo Laporte back during the merger days. G4TV.com was a terrible show from the first time I watched it. Both chicks are annoying as hell. Lets face it. Morgan Webb has been carrying that channel for a long time now. If she isn't already, once she gets married, its over for X-Play too. Half the geeks out there think they have a shot with her, and that keeps them tuning in. And I am in total agreement on the Tallarico hate. The problem is that he basically runs Judgement Day. Its his production company that cranks them out. And Leena, jealousy is just unbecoming.

Its funny to me how Chauncey is always rated #4 by everyone. By the way, Chauncey changed his game up when he had that cup of coffee in Orlando, and then changed again after Brown got his hooks into him. He is about as close to a 50/50 balance of scoring and passing as I have seen in awhile. Hell he went for 19 assists last night. Only Kidd and Nash could do that. I think the phrase "you can't go home again" applies to Marbury. He is a decent enough point guard, but he has always been more effective scoring-wise when put at the shooting guard. He has always been much more of a scorer than a passer, despite attempts to convert him. He was touted as the savior of the Knicks franchise once they got him, and that was doomed to failure because there are so many problems with the Knicks right now that he can't fix, and most of them are in the front office.

Back to business as usual for the Pistons, though them giving up a 13 point lead is rather alarming. a 2-3 zone should not give a team that many problems, though they made the adjustment in the second half and put the Kings to sleep.

Good old fashioned Toe Kick 1 works for me. No need to get fancy, especially in this game. Yeah but you cant do a toe kick if you want to do a five star frog splash or a moonsault in this game. Plus it makes for a great finish if you whip the guy into the corner, give them the stinger splash and when the turn around all groggy you hit them with your finishing move. True. You need to make sure your opponent is laid out if you're going to try for an aerial finisher, and even so, they have a tendency to pop up if you are not quick enough climbing the ropes.

That's my only gripe about it... I love Toriyama and have been a DBZ fan since the early to mid 90s, but damn, his art can be repetitive...

    Best squash/one-sided matches

Vader vs. Tom Zenk at GAB 89. All he got in was a dropkick that barely even knocked Vader back half a step. The Faces of Fear vs. High Voltage, Nitro in I think 1995.

Agreed, and thats what was all over Detroit sports talk radio this morning, to my consternation. But when its broken down, all of the starters with the exception of Tayshaun are playing less minutes. McDyess is in a slump, Delfino isn't consistent, and Darko has had a setback, because Flip buried him on the bench, and people are sniping because of it. Winning does tend to silence a lot of the critics, but as soon as that one loss comes up, start up the bitch-fest. I will start being concerned by the end of January if at least some of these things aren't addressed, but I m not concerned right now. 15-3 is 15-3. I don't mind that a team gets outrebounded as long as they have more points at the end of the game. Utah is a really good rebounding team, especially on the offensive end, and that was what killed the Pistons aside from their fatigue. It did bother me that Mehmet Okur got as many open looks as he did, because he was notorious for doing that when he was a Piston. And as an aside, Andrei Kirilenko is very underrated. If he ever gets a consistent jumper going, look the hell out.

Not to mention that Shaq is what, 33 now? Its a bit late for him to start doing something like that. People had been screaming at him to shoot underhanded freethrows a la Bob Cousy for years, but no... personally, I would be doing anything I could to improve my freethrow shooting if it sucked that badly and other teams were exploiting it. Speaking of that, jwpeer, you're right. The problem with Ben Wallace is that he has always been limited offensively, because the two teams he played for (Orlando and Detroit) coveted his defense and rebounding so much that it didn;t matter as much to them. I love the man as a player, but the truth is the truth. That still doesn;t excuse Dunleavy from choosing the quick and easy path to try and win. It may not be illegal, but he still deserves to be criticized for it. I love how people in Detroit are nitpicking the Pistons because they lost last night. That was a team that was cruising along, up by 13, then they just ran out of gas and Utah came back on them. They were tired physically and mentally because both Chauncey and Rip got technicals, and they hardly ever get teed up. I am not making excuses, but people seem to think that the Pistons are screwing up somehow, when that was a night when they got tired near the end of the game and to their credit, Utah kept plugging away and got the win. It happens, with the NBA schedule being as wacky as it is. A west coast roadie, travel pretty much every night, *and* a back to back at the end of it? I would have been more surprised if the Pistons won last night, because it was obvious that they were a tired basketball team that night. But back to the point I was trying to make before I got off on that tangent, they are 15-3. That's an .833 winning percentage, and the season is barely even 1/4 done. I'll take that all day long, and then some. They are not the new incarnation of the 1996 Bulls, and are going to go 73-9. Its just not going to happen. 60-65 wins? Sure, if they keep going the way they are. Relax, Piston fan. Relax.

    NFL Week XIV

Add to that the fact that they greatly improved their chances of getting Reggie Bush by that shank job, and things are definitely looking up for the Texans. But, then what happens to Dominick Davis. He's a good back running and catching out of the backfield. I would think the Texans would trade their pick to someone for a Ol and early draft (2nd round ) pick. That's what they need the most. They need two OLs, thats for sure... and Domanick Davis will serve that purpose. Bush is good enough that he can start immediately.
