  1. All Wang jokes aside, I can understand why BJ was frustrated. How in fucking hell do you have a black belt in BJJ and not use one bit of it in a fight?!?!? And even if Gabe makes weight, Corey is going to fucking DESTROY him.
  2. That was pretty horrible, yes. Not to mention Pillman's craziness was just a bit overdone.
  3. Not to even mention how fairweather Orlando fans are... T-Mac was in a catch-22 in Orlando because he was getting rapped on all sides for his play, similar to what Kobe has gone (and still goes) through. I still think he could have stuck it out and not been so sensitive, but I understand why he abandoned Orlando and went to Houston. The fans will only support you if you win every game, and at the time management of the team was quite inept. I liken Arroyo to trying to be the Puerto Rican Magic Johnson. He forces passes that even Magic himself would know not to try, and always going for the flashbulb popping play than a basic play that could do just as much. And who is this player that the Magic have that they could run their offense through aside from Howard? The only one I can see is Grant Hill and they had some success last night with him at point forward. I doubt Brian Hill is going to continue that, even if it was working. And for gods sake, Fergie is not THAT bad on the eyes... sheesh.
  4. With all the jokes, what the smarts know about Patterson, who would have ever thought he'd have a match like that with Slaughter. I think that was thge first pro wrestling match at MSG I ever saw... I used to think it was the first match I ever saw but that can't be true after looking at the date... I was watching WWWF stuff in 1980.
  5. I'm sure they did it just to fuck with you, John. The way the Pistons are guarding Howard is why he looks so bad. Anytime he catches the ball in the post and puts it down to make his move, they collapse on him immediately. He cannot deal with that much attention. He should learn how to pass out of doubles better for sure, along with his free throw shooting. Carlos Arroyo needs to tone it down a notch. I have said it here before. The reason why the Pistons traded him, is because he's like that guy you see playing pick-up games. He would rather make a flashy play and look good rather than make the RIGHT play and help his team win. In Game 1 he had an EASY layup and he made the shot 10x harder that it was and of course he missed. Jameer Nelson is hurting the Magic a lot more than he is helping, and of course Brian Hill does not ride Turkoglu into the ground after hitting his first seven shots. The Magic are going to get better as Dwight Howard does, if the right pieces are put into place.
  6. Dirk should be using his size a lot more than he does. He's proven that he can make jumpers from Ft. Worth. He doesn;t even have to go down into the low block. Catch it between the circles back down two or the steps and shoot it over the top of the defender. He did that once and got within six feet of the basket and got fouled. Devon Harris is doing well. The key to beating Baron Davis is making him defend. I take that back a bit as hes currently 7-16. That's a major bugaboo for the Pistons, they build up a lead of 15 points or more and then they downshift, letting the opposition get back into the game when they should put them the fuck away, win or loss. With the way the Magic were playing last night, the Pistons should have blew them the hell out if they had not taken their foot off the gas.
  7. Nice obscure Iron Chef reference.
  8. I'm looking for Goldberg vs. Hashimoto. I have a match where it was Goldberg vs. Naoya Ogawa and it was an interesting match. At the end, Hashimoto and Goldberg challenged each other.
  9. I simply cannot see the Mavs losing to the Warriors. The Warriors have fought so hard just to make it, and now people are thinking that they are going to upset the Mavs? Maybe two years ago I might have agreed, but not this year. Mavs in 6 at the most. And though I wished that my teams A and B didn't meet up in the first round, and as much as I like the Magic and think they are one or two players away from seriously contending, Jameer Nelson is on crack if he thinks the Magic are going to beat the Pistons anymore then ONE game. Pistons in 5. I'm rather content to see Miami and Chicago beat on each other in the first round. I dislike both teams equally, and mainly for their head coaches. Pat Riley's overblown ego and Scott Skiles inflexibility and dickishness are the reasons why. I pray it goes seven games and triple overtime in the seventh game and in the end, I don;t care who wins too much. If Arenas was healthy, I would have said this series was going to go six games easy, but the Cavs are going to get a walk. Cavs in 4. But that's about as far as they will go until Lebron can *consistently* close out games. And yes, I know he needs help. Toronto and Jersey are going to go at least six games, and I don;t care who wins too much either. My only interest would be watching Chris Bosh get better and better. I agree with Kamala in that the Warriors will win two games, but then at some point they are going to run out of gas. Remember folks, the Warriors are what the Mavs used to be: 85% offense, 15% defense. You are not going to win if you can't stop anyone, and the Warriors are not very tough defensively. The Mavs are. You have to throw out the regular season to a certain extent, and while the Warriors are decent, the Mavs will take them out. There is not going to be any major drama this year with Phoenix and LA. Suns in 5, maybe 6 if Kobe goes off for 50 or more. The Nuggets need one more player to make serious noise in the playoffs. Spurs in 6. Houston and Utah is going to go how T-Mac goes. If that trick back gives out on him forget it, even with Yao Ming. That being said, Utah doesn;t really grab me that much. It seemed to me that Kirilenko has regressed, and I think that Jerry Sloan's inability to change his coaching style even slightly might hurt the Jazz. I honestly can;t come up with a clear-cut winner. I just hope that its as good as most 4-5 matchups are.
  10. And of course Geoff Petrie is doing everything he can to keep the Maloofs from whacking him, and no matter whom they get next, when HE fails, its his ass next. They need to blow that team up and start over completely, plain and simple. Musselman is a good coach but like that team, he got derailed by bad decisions.
  11. Vince probably would only induct her if she lost some more weight and got a bigger boob job, but he probably doesn't want her on screen otherwise. Sad, but probably true. Yeah but he put Sherri in the Hall of Fame so who knows? Though I agree with Invader that she wasn't really around long enough to warrant induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. But the WWE Hall of Fame is a crock anyways. Sherri was a champion wrestler before she became a manager. Its her body of work that earned her induction.
  12. I have to admit that I really like watching Morishima as the Japanese Terry Gordy (but with more talent). I get a lot of enjoyment out of him dropping people on their heads. A title match between him and Joe would be out-fucking-standing. And I am VERY impressed with Ted DiBiase Jr. Not only did he bust out all of his dad's moves, but it took the Million Dollar Dream a step further. Nice.
  13. Easy there, junior. I remember doing exactly that when I was a kid. I remember the album too, Star Wars and Other Intergalactic Funk by MECO. That's right. Disco Star Wars. And it was good. Correction. It still is.
  14. having 3600 songs or so in my collection means that I am hitting shuffle a lot... but especially when I am on my route, I hear one song and then I have to hear the whole album. Thanks for the Digital Underground love, Slim... now I need to get that album...
  15. You know those albums, the ones that once you listen to the first track, you're hooked until the album is over.... or if you have an MP3 player, you take it off of shuffle to hear it all the way through. Here are mine (and yes, I know I am stuck in the 80s and early 90s. Deal.): Iron Maiden - Powerslave Joe Satriani - The Extremist Ozzy Osbourne - The Ultimate Sin Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power Dream Theater - Images and Words Whitesnake - Whitesnake Dokken - Back for the Attack Van Halen - Fair Warning Stuart Hamm - Kings of Sleep Rush - Moving Pictures, Signals Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime Metallica - Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, Kill 'em All Megadeth: Youthanasia Guns 'N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction Faith No More - The Real Thing John Williams - Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Soundtrack Post yours, and discuss.
  16. Your sister needs to be committed. Straight up.
  17. Damn, he sold it better than half of the wrestlers that have taken it...
  18. I remember back when McGrady vs. Kobe was a 15 round heavyweight slugfest, because each was a little bit better than the other on one end the floor. Kobe was better offensively, and T-Mac was a better defender. It's not exactly like that anymore. There are times where it seems to me that T-Mac is almost tentative because he's afraid of his back going out on him again. The only issue with T-Mac is that back of his that keeps him from playing out a full season... as he and Yao go, so do the Rockets. Neither one has been able to stay healthy this season, which keeps the Rockets right where they are. They could give either Phoenix or Dallas a serious run in the playoffs in they are both 100% or something close to it. And as to the sniping back and forth, we are all homers for our teams to a one degree or another. I know better than to argue with Laker fans anymore because the majority of them cannot be objective about their team, much less one Kobe Bean Bryant. That being said, I think we can argue without it turning into something about to get out of control, folks. People (especially here) can't say something like "Kobe will get some MVP votes because the media is in love with Dirk and Nash" without someone taking offense to it, whether its true or not. As alf said, lets try and keep it civil. Try to, anyway. Either Nash or Dirk will get the MVP depending on who goes to the Finals, or who had more of an impact in getting there.... right now I think its close to dead even, with Nash having the slight advantage due to the two previous years and the fact that his numbers have gone up this year as opposed to his previous MVP reigns. GP in the hall? I guess that its possible now that he has his ring, though his best body of work was with Seattle... Jason Kidd, definitely. Speaking of the Hall, if you ever have the chance, go to Springfield, Massachusetts and visit that hall. Its more than worth it. I went in the summer of 2005 and I was glad that I did. A good day, to be sure.
  19. Maybe he didn't create it, but he certainly took that role to the next level. Back in my mark days, he was the one I actually was more afraid of out of the Horsemen.. he did the most dirty work save perhaps Tully Blanchard, his promos were straight forward and to the point.. he could say the same thing in ten words that would take Flair fifty. His in ring work was very solid, though his time tagging with Ole really tightened that up.
  20. *hands LotC a box of kleenex* As an admitted novice, I can still see pros and cons in this, and Hawk opened my eyes to a little more with his post. Good job.
  21. All things said about Jake, that was a pretty good promo....
  22. Manu plays basketball like its soccer, and I fucking hate it. Any contact he takes no matter how slight, he goes down like he was poleaxed. THAT warrants a tech, and in a way I hope they do it. Taking charges is one thing, I don't think that is going to be regulated. But all of these players (and yes I include my Pistons in on this) that make exaggerated motions at the slightest contact to try and draw whistles is getting to be too much. At the same time I don;t want every little thing in the league to get regulated and it seems to me that that is what the league is trying to do.
  23. You make it sound like he was ever actually GOOD with his schtick. I briefly listened to him when I was still living in Florida, and his act grated on my nerves back then. Wow.... I'll have to DVR that.... I will be the first to admit that I had a thing for Zap, but she got eclipsed very quickly when they started bringing hotter talent.
  24. I would want Streets of Rage, just for the simple fact that there have never been any GOOD beat em ups until very recently, and only one.
  25. It was a shame that Scott's knees went flooey, because I thought he was pretty damned good, either as a single or with his brother. Some of the footage from when they were IWGP tag team champions was awesome.
