  1. Undertaker retained the title at King of the Ring against challenger Triple H. And yes, 2002 was teh suck.
  2. [MikeSC]Kerry was a joke of an opponent who contradicted himself and made himself look like a complete dolt at every opportunity. Bush had an easy victory over him, and I told you guys it would happen all along, and look at the state the Democratic Party is in, DEAD. File this under tough shit. -=Mike ..ironic Kerry would take a stand on anything, let alone on those who are indecisive.. [/MikeSC] Come on. Someone needed to respond to that last sentence. That's the lone bit of good he did around here, anyways.. I wouldn't consider making generalizations that broad to be a public service. I'm not happy with Kerry either, but writing him off has proven to be a mistake for more than person over the years. To do so in such a sweeping manor simply over-simplifies the complexities of the campaign. Now, if you really want to go all Mike-mode on us, you can reply that I'm an idiot for thinking that a Party that has endured for over 200 years can't bounce back from 2 narrow losses.
  3. I was referring to someone else posting here being from Huntucky. I know. I was just kidding with you.
  4. The lack of capitalization threw me off.
  5. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evan_Bayh
  6. I have no reason to flee my neighborhood if a gay couple moves in down the street. On the contrary, my family is actually trying to move because there's too much white trash in the community. Homophobia, like racism, isn't rational You may be able to realize that having them there is a good thing, but I don't think most people are capable of coming to a similar conclusion on their own. Your story reminds me of how my dad used to bitch that Mexicans were moving into his neighborhood, until I reminded him that they were doing a better job fixing up their houses than the previous white homeowners.
  7. I have reason to suspect that reports of the higher average affluence of the homosexual has been somewhat exaggerated. I don't think its that gays earn more money, but gays who are open about it are more likely to earn more money.
  8. Gay rights = Civil Rights II. Gay marriage is sideshow that, unfortunately, distracts from more important issues. I think most people would support civil unions (which would be legally equal to marriage), but we're caught up in a semantic game over the word "marriage". If it were up to me, gay marriage would be legal tomorrow, but it isn't up to me. So long as gay rights activits insist that they must have gay marriage instead of gay civil unions, society is going to be much slower to accept it. If not using ONE WORD gets gays their equal rights faster, then so be it. Civil unions are 100% as good legally as gay marriage, but you don't have nearly as many townspeople chasing you with pitch forks.
  9. Let me explain the difference between Bayh and Kerry. Kerry is a liberal pretending to be a moderate to get votes. Bayh is actually a moderate. People might be more willing to vote for Bayh, because there's a greater chance he actually believes what he's selling, whereas Kerry was exposed as being full of shit. People can disagree with you and still feel good about voting for you if they think you're being sincere about your views (Ronald Reagan is a perfect example of this). What I'm trying to say is that I don't care if the Democrats run a moderate, so long as its someone who actually believes what they're saying and isn't just changing their positions to get votes. I hope the Crazy Christians shut up soon. The Republicans really have them by the balls, because if they're complaining that George W. Bush is not conservative enough for them, they're certainly not going to vote Democratic. They actually have two choices: -not vote at all -vote for a 3rd party Either way, they've crippled the Republican vote and given themselves a moral victory by denying someone the win. Like I said, this is exactly what happened on the left in 2000 when Nader drew just enough votes away from Gore for him to loose. The Democrats have a disadvantage because they have no unifying positions to fall back on. There are no broad themes or uniting issues to bring them together other than a desire to win. Whoever the 2008 GOP nominee is will have their work cut out for them to remain true to this group without alienating everyone else. The two most successful people at doing this, Reagan and G.W. Bush, were able to pull it off by uniting social moderates around their national security proposals while playing to the right on social issues (I still maintain that Bush's economic policies were a non-issue in 2004).
  10. Even if gay marriage was legal, no one could ever force churches to perform a ceremony that goes against its teachings. They are protected by the First Amendment. However, I'll agree with you that the civil uion compromise is the most viable solution to this. Gay couples in civil unions would have the same legal rights as heterosexual couples, which is all they really wanted all along anyways.
  11. Its kind of a rule that a party's most extreme factions try to periodically take it over. Even now, the Republicans are having to deal with their own most conservative faction that is threatening to walk out if Bush doesn't follow their agenda to the letter.
  12. Yes, but then you'd have every far left idealogue coming out of the woodwork claiming Bayh's too conservative and a "Republican lite" like they did with Gore.
  13. Its not just the corporations in Texas that love cheap labor, you know.
  14. Man, how did THIS post get past me the first time? Poor fellow actually thinks evolution says humans evolved from monkeys. Creationists are so horribly misinformed.
  15. I'd like to see if they'd consider putting stickers on textbooks saying "Gravity is just a theory".
  16. No, HHH won, but Taker got the title shot anyways. I remember they'd been teasing Brock vs. Undertaker since King of the Ring.
  17. Since he was on both PPV cards, I'm not aware that he DID leave between those 2 shows. However, he left after "No Mercy" to sell injuries sustained by the Big Show throwing him off of the stage after losing the Cell match to Brock (real reason: his child was about to be born). edit: Exslade ZX is right. He jumped to Smackdown after Summerslam to follow Brock for his title shot. He didn't actually leave until after No Mercy for the reason I just mentioned.
  18. I'd argue that the Kane squash killed his momentum.
  19. Maybe the reason they're putting this together is the empty promise of a heel that will never come just to bump the ratings. I hope that's what they're doing, since I think it'd be a mistake to put Edge and Lita together on screen.
  20. Chicks love The Edge.
  21. So much so that it wasn't even him.
  22. It just means she's been learning the announcing business from J.R.
  23. Isn't that particular piece of music 110 years old and thus no one actually owns the rights to it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Also_sprach_Zarathustra
  24. I always found it hilarious everyone got offended that Kerry stood by comedians who told some "offensive" jokes. I've heard dirtier jokes than that from Rush Limbaugh (who, BTW, is actually quite funny a lot of the time).
