  1. Not really a football highlight, but it did have the longest TD reception in Jets history in there: NBC's postgame show, circa December 1985 Bob Costas is the new Dick Clark.
  2. The Canadian Experience selects: PG Andre Miller. No more elbowing my man in the grapefruits!
  3. So yeah, he just hit a 3 run homer to give the Cards the lead. Wow. He may have just saved their season.
  4. I wouldn't be suprised that it blows up in their faces due to the fact that Garner always makes questionable calls. Nope, Nady grounded out. I wouldn't have been surprised either, though.
  5. Now THIS is risky. Astros walk Sanchez and Bay intentionally with a runner on third and two outs.
  6. Padres take the lead in the 8th on a wild pitch. Incredible.
  7. Hard to hit into a double play with first base open. If he grounds out to the right side, the tying run comes in anyway.
  8. The intentional walk came with one out, first base open, runners on 2nd and 3rd. You set up the double play in that situation. The runner on first doesn't matter, because if the first two runners score, it's over anyway. Plus it was Soriano at the plate. That's just about the last guy on the Nationals I want hitting in that situation.
  9. Oh my goodness.
  10. This doesn't surprise me in the least.
  11. Houston with yet ANOTHER clutch hit ties the game in the 9th. I'm speechless.
  12. That would be Curt Menefee. He used to do play by play with Tim Green, I wanna say. Anyway, I saw Curt during the halftime show and it threw me off. Can someone explain how it works with Curt and the unbearable Joe Buck splitting time? And they have Chris Rose doing the Game Break updates, which James Brown used to do. I'm really confused now.
  13. I'm following today's Bill Simmons chat...apparently, ESPN has cut all ties with Jason Whitlock, likely due to a conversation with sports blog The Big Lead. Couldn't think of where else to put this, so there ya go.
  14. In my house, stuff lasts in the fridge for a lot less time than most other places. My wife is a communications advisor for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and she takes that shit SERIOUSLY.
  15. That's entirely team-dependant. The Marlins won two WS and didn't draw flies. Neither did the Angels. But the Red Sox won the World Series as a wild card and drew crazy ratings.
  16. 22 games between the Yankees and Red Sox in 1998. That was the year the Yankees won 114 games. Second-largest margin: 14 games between the Mariners and A's in 2001. And the A's won 102 games in finishing second.
  17. Headache scenario for MLB: St. Louis needs to make up their game against San Francisco, THEN needs to play a one-game playoff against Houston, delaying the start of the NL playoffs.
  18. Add rawmvp to the deleted list. And Kamui, unless he was a PBP I'm not thinking of.
  19. And the Dodgers are way out in front of Colorado, so they could very well have the wild card lead by night's end. What a finish. Of course, it would be nice if ANY of these teams were going to win 90 games -- hell, even 85 games (the Padres will have 85 with a win, no one else has more than 82 right now) -- but you take what you can get nowadays.
  20. A 2-out double by Mike Cameron on an 0-2 pitch puts the Padres in front, 6-5. This is downright surreal.
  21. And back come the Padres...2 runs in, 2 in scoring position, one out in the seventh.
  22. Tennessee putting Vince Young in there right now would be dumb, dumb, dumb. They're going up against good teams in the next few weeks that are going to blow them out regardless of who's under center...why expose a rookie QB to that, and possibly shatter his confidence, when you can let a veteran take the pounding?
  23. Someone should really pin this thread.
  24. FINALLY, I'm on the board. I've got Byron Nelson.
  25. There is no way Syracuse (59) or North Carolina (60) are better than Navy (62) and Oklahoma State (63). There is also no way that Colorado is better than 46 other programs, or that Illinois is better than 36 others.
