  1. Probably, but you're still looking at a small sample size for those further down in the order due to fewer opportunities. Any stat that's outside the player's immediate control to a large degree is not useful as a measurement of ability. RBIs for batters and wins for pitchers are the two most obvious.
  2. Because they gave their franchise player the money he deversed? There's no way a player who hasn't played a single down in the league deserves over $5 million a year guaranteed. I don't care who he is.
  3. My grandfather always had either Cream of Wheat or Shredded Wheat for breakfast. Blecch. Raisins & Spice and Cinnamon Roll oatmeal are awesome.
  4. John Eustice did an interview on the Dan Patrick Show saying he thinks the test is a false positive, and that his testosterone-epitestosterone ratio is off because his testosterone levels were low.
  5. LeCharles Bentley blew out his knee in the Browns' first practice. What is it about Cleveland and major injuries to key players?
  6. My wife and I came up with a great rule before we got married -- no kids, no pets, no plants. I hate dogs, she's allergic to cats, and neither of us really want to be entrusted with the life of any living thing, so it works out great.
  7. Corey Pavin shot a 26 on the front 9 at the US Bank Championship today, a new PGA record. That's sick. When I shoot 26, I'm usually getting ready for the fifth hole.
  8. Same reason they love bingo. It keeps them occupied, and they can smoke.
  9. True. But, that's what happens when a sport actually wants to test their athletes and keep their sport clean. This is true. The UCI (cycling's governing body) should be applauded for sticking to the hard line, despite the fact that they can't enjoy all the negative publicity they're getting.
  10. I'm amazed it took this long for an athlete to break out the Million Dollar Belt.
  11. Sounds like the makings of a bet to me. Make sure he gives you at least even money.
  12. This would never happen, but I wonder what the Jays could get for AJ Burnett.
  13. No kidding: It's pretty bad when your mom is cracking on you in the media.
  14. Christ. That's horrible news. I can't believe those guys think they won't get caught in the current climate.
  15. Sounds like as good an idea as the video phone.
  16. The USC offence, as projected, is good enough to beat any team on their schedule this year.
  17. The Yankees don't need an outfielder, or at least they won't when Matsui and Sheffield come back. They need pitching, badly.
  18. Verrrry interesting. The Devils look like they're willing to sacrifice any realistic chance of winning the Cup next season to keep their team intact. Once Mogilny comes off the books at the end of the season, they'll have a little more flexibility.
  19. Awesome. What about any recent injuries that could possibly be on video. Sorry for the stupid questions. The only one that comes to mind is Buck Martinez making a double play on a broken leg in 1985. Recently, Aaron Rowand's was pretty gruesome. Two words: Dave Dravecky.
  20. At this point, I'm looking at Hill, Napoli and Wells for sure, and probably Sizemore. Hill and Napoli both went undrafted, which is great. I don't think Teixeira is worth dropping a first-rounder.
  21. I don't know about the rest of the week, but there's nothing else on worth watching tonight.
  22. Bring $100 and it should last you for awhile. $30 can be gone in 5-6 hands. Variance is a bitch. Play poker and it can go even faster, especially if you don't know what you're doing. It's not bad etiquette, but what are you going to do for the rest of the time you're there? It IS the easiest way to walk out a winner, though.
  23. And, for the moment, there's a three-way tie for the wild-card lead with them and the Yankees.
