  1. Are you pondering what I'm pondering, Pinky?
  2. OK, that's bizarre. I should've looked at the splits, but who goes from a pitcher's park to a hitter's park and gives up all their home runs on the road? He's still not really struggling as badly as the article would suggest. His ERA should come down when he stops giving up HRs. He's not a flyball pitcher, which makes it stranger.
  3. There's a difference between casual dining restaurants and family restaurants?
  4. Where have all the good baseball writers gone? I read Sean McAdam's latest article on ESPN.com because I thought it would shed some light on which pitchers might go where, but it was just a rehashing of old myths and half-truths. Among other things: - The All-Star streak, among other things, is proof of the AL's dominance over the NL (10 of the last 20 WS winners came from the league that lost the ASG -- some predictor!); - NL pitchers struggle mightily when switching leagues, with the examples being Matt Clement (bad peripherals to start, and was overused), Randy Johnson (c'mon, he's OVER 40, and had a few good years with Seattle, anyway), Carl Pavano (one-year wonder signed to a ridiculous deal, and injury-plagued) and Esteban Loaiza (mediocre, but had a pretty good season with the White Sox, an AL team, 3 years ago); - Josh Beckett, while on pace to win 20 games, is struggling because he's given up 27 HRs, as opposed to 14 last season (since going from Pro Player Stadium to Fenway Park? GET OUTTA HERE!!) Are there any good writers besides Rob Neyer that anyone reads?
  5. I'm not so sure about that now. The White Sox starting pitching has really gone south lately. If they don't turn it around, the teams in the East could really battle them down the stretch.
  6. That's fucking Oprah? The magazine cover she didn't want you to see.
  7. Probably. I just found it funny that ESPN.com put it front and centre this morning with their "Yankees sweep!!" coverage.
  8. He has to try and get someone. The rotation's only three deep. There's no one to go to for a win after Halladay, Burnett and Lilly. Even Lilly's a shaky third starter. Now that Sidney Ponson's off the market, I don't know where they'll look. Seriously, I think Maddux might be the only other starter besides Schmidt that might be moved, but I don't think he'll end up in Toronto.
  9. Dunno if this was posted recently or not, but anyway: Honky Tonk Man wins the IC title on Superstars of Wrestling I remember watching the end of this match in disbelief as it happened. Jesse ragging on McMahon for saying HTM shouldn't have even gotten a title match after he'd won was pretty funny, though. And I think that was one of the last times Honky came down to his original music before he switched to "Cool Cocky Bad" later in the year when Piledriver was released.
  10. I don't know what arena it was in (probably the Molson Centre), but WCW has been to Montreal. That was where Jacques Rougeau got a pinfall win over Hulk Hogan.
  11. For me it wasn't unreasonable...it was impossible. Only two of my starters were scheduled to make starts this past weekend.
  12. One more reason Schilling's my favourite (non-Toronto) player. I wish more players did this.
  13. Lets be honest. The last time the Blue Jays mattered was 1993. The Blue Jays haven't finished above 3rd place since and you are giving ESPN a fuck you because everybody knows that the Jays are only the third best team in the Division. Why dont you wait until the Jays show/prove something before you starting cursing off websites and people for not showing your team any love. Give me a break. If the Yankees were being written off when they're 3 1/2 games out in July, you'd go ballistic.
  14. Mr. Perfect destroying Hogan's belt backstage, HTM/Savage and all the postmatch activities, and the Demolition/Brainbusters 2/3 falls tag title match are my best memories of SNME.
  15. I didn't, but it looks like the minimum innings requirement was waived.
  16. Allow me to extend a big hearty "fuck you" to ESPN.com for this story. Apparently, teams not within a game of the AL East lead in July need not apply when it comes to consideration for winning the division.
  17. He may not have been THE reason, but he was one of the reasons after his atrocious performance in game 1. Miller wasn't great either, but Emery looked lost at times in that game. He's a rookie goalie, of course he's going to be lost at times. Which is why Ottawa as team has to take some of the pressure of him which they didn't in Game 1, the team basically expected Emery to win the game by himself, which is dumb. Yeah, those six goals the Sens scored really kept the pressure on Emery. I can't believe those selfish bastards expected him to not give up seven goals.
  18. It was a tie, silly. They had a split screen and everything!
  19. I believe the question was who we would LIKE to see start, and my answer would be Emery. Gerber will start, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I'm still completely stunned that Muckler paid nearly $4 mil a season for a goalie who will be 32 years old before the season starts, who has been a starter in this league for exactly ONE full season, and has won exactly ONE playoff game. Wasn't the whole point of all the fretting over Emery in March that he had no playoff experience? How has that changed? I really don't think Gerber will be in Ottawa by the time this contract expires.
  20. I <3 Mark Teixeira.
  21. Fleury needs to be the full-time starter and stop getting screwed around with. He keeps getting shelled because: a) the Penguins' defence is utterly hopeless; b) he keeps looking over his shoulder to see who's coming to take his job next. There's no way Hasek would go to Pittsburgh anyway. Why would he play one more season for a last-place team?
  22. Yes, clearly Cashman has a genius that cannot be explained.
  23. Thank you, Carl Everett.
  24. I loved his guest spot on ER. RIP.
  25. Red Buttons, anyone?
