Has there ever been more than one penalty shot given in a Cup final? I know Pronger's goal in Game 1 was the first successful PS. EDIT: No penalty shot. That's a pretty silly rule; a player covering up a puck to save a goal can't avoid giving a penalty shot just because there was a delayed penalty call.

When I think of undeserving champions, I think of guys who never should have been champion in the first place. How the hell did I forget Renegade (RIP)? Not only did he get the TV title, he squashed Arn Anderson in the process.

Why is Wright not being able to give the Yankees innings such a surprise? He's never pitched 200 innings once in his career. He's never even averaged more than 6 innings a start once in his career.

The most undeserving champions in history are probably Ronnie Garvin and Otto Wanz (who paid Verne Gagne $50K or so for a run with the AWA World title). As far as undeserving pushes, promoters' sons are the worst for this. Greg Gagne, Erik Watts, and Jeff Jarrett all come to mind.

Incidentally, should there not be a winner at Winged Foot tomorrow, NBC is going to have perhaps the greatest sports doubleheader ever on Monday, with a US Open playoff in the afternoon and Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals in the evening.

I wouldn't be surprised to see ABC pick up baseball, or even for ESPN/ESPN2 to carry the entire playoffs. There's nothing that says that a championship HAS to be on over-the-air TV anymore.
