  1. No longer speculation.
  2. The Red Sox picked up Mike Remlinger from the Cubs for prospect Olivo Astacio. I'm not sure what to think of this trade.
  3. More signings: - Kim Johnsson by the Flyers - Andrew Cassels by the Capitals - Dean McAmmond and Bryce Salvador by the Blues
  4. He's not making nearly as much as I had thought...only $1.5 million. Of course, there's also that Hasek might retire instead of reporting if he's traded.
  5. The Ottawa Lynx are a game over .500 at 58-57. They're 5 back of Buffalo in the division, and 6 back of Indianapolis for the wild card. Kinda mirrors the season of the major league team I cheer for (Toronto).
  6. I'd agree, but it would be just about impossible to move Hasek at this point. Anyone who would be willing to pick him up probably doesn't have room under the cap. I'm just crossing my fingers at this point and hoping that the year off did his body some good. I'm in for fantasy hockey this season. I might actually set up my own league if there's enough interest.
  7. Flyers resigned Simon Gagne. Ona related note, Steve Simmons had an interesting thought in Sunday's Ottawa Sun...wouldn't it be cool if another team took a run at Robert Esche, who's a restricted free agent? Since the Flyers are already close to the cap number, they'd have to do a bunch more trades if they wanted to sign him, which they almost certainly would, because there's no one else ready to play goal at the NHL level in the Flyers organization. Salary caps are fun.
  8. ... Man, I feel old.
  9. So I did the right thing by only tuning in for the last 10 minutes?
  10. Standard Hogan promo from 1992 here. I think I actually heard him give this promo before the '92 Rumble, to be honest.
  11. I don't think anybody's expecting the Broncos to even go to the Super Bowl, but it'd be nice to at least get a playoff win or two this year. Frankly, after picking up the Browns' front 4 in that "buy 1, get 3 free" sale, even just making the playoffs would be an accomplishment.
  12. Just from the face, he looks like a mini-Vader. He should come out in introductions with the big-ass helmet that spews out steam.
  13. The A's host the Angels in what looks to be the first really big series (at least in the AL) this year, starting tomorrow night. Who would have predicted two months ago that we'd be saying that? Also, the White Sox visit the Yankees and Red Sox in back to back series, in what could be an interesting preview of the postseason.
  14. Wow, back to back bad gimmicks.
  15. Also in Canucks news, Todd Bertuzzi's suspension has been lifted effective immediately.
  16. Chris Osgood is back in Detroit. The Red Wings signed him for one year, $900K. I'm guessing they signed him to back up Legace, because that sure isn't starting goaltender money.
  17. If it's going to be that week, Friday is pretty much the only day I could do it. The following week is a little better.
  18. Kinda surprising? This was an out-of-left-field shock. Honky Tonk Man beating Steamboat so soon after WMIII was pretty surprising as well.
  19. Checked TSN, Sportsnet, Team 1200, and TheScore. No news whatsoever on Leclair.
  20. They aren't against the war. They're against the government, and really America in general, for pretty much anything that gives gays rights of any kind.
  21. Well, it's certainly an improvement over Rick Bowness. Then again, I think I would be an improvement over Rick Bowness.
  22. Fake. Whoever it was tried too hard.
  23. How did it take this guy two weeks to get unlocked??
  24. I'm in as the token sacrificial lamb.
  25. All those teams were keeping budgets low and banking extra money in the seasons leading up to the lockout, so they could do exactly what they're doing now. The big market teams, for the most part, don't have nearly as much flexibility under the cap, either, so they're limited in their ability to go after the big names. They have to go somewhere, so the smaller teams are able to grab them. The Blackhawks shouldn't really be thrown in there, either, because they make OK money, but their owner is the biggest tightass in the league (even more than Jeremy Jacobs).
