The Rose? From A Distance? Beast Of Burden? I should probably stop there, lest any credibility I had in terms of music taste goes flying out the window when my comprehensive knowledge of Bette Midler songs is discovered.

I think it is unlikely for a sequel of anything to ever top the box office record. Sequels rarely beat out their predecessors (and don't hit back at me with statistics, I said rarely). I think this is a silly thing to speculate about, because we honestly will not know until the event actually occurs.

Memo meant for TheBigSwigg

You're not very good at this. -
Trainspotting: I've often heard everyone claim Requiem For A Dream as being the best film about drug addictions ever. As far as I'm concerned, this far surpassed it. Robert Carlyle was brilliant as a complete and utter scumbag and it was a strong start for Ewan McGregor in his first major film role. But the editing and cinematography was absolutely amazing. The fact that it was only nominated for screenplay at the Oscars shows how North America-oriented the Academy is. It was funny, depressing, disturbing and entertaining (but I found it difficult to be amused after the scene with the baby, possibly the most disturbing thing I've ever seen in a film). I thought this was an excellent film. 9/10

For all the people who think Paul's great.
spiny norman replied to Art Sandusky's topic in No Holds Barred
I agree with the Moist Party Gurl. While I found Birds In The Hotel fairly entertaining as a gimmick, his recent return is just pathetic. Everybody here abused Brain, abuse Eagan etc. for constantly coming back to get banned and agree that this shows how pathetic their lives are. But there's an enormous double standard for Paul. It's really quite sad. -
Prince is my #2 singer/songwriter after Lennon. Sadly almost everyone I know severely underestimates him and can't believe that I would like a "poor man's Michael Jackson". Almost everyone I know coincidentally have absolutely no idea about music and/or are ultra-conservative. With your ten best albums list, I'd swap Dirty Mind and Around The World In A Day, otherwise that's a pretty good list. As for best song, I find it absolutely impossible to make a choice. It really depends on the day as to whether it will be Little Red Corvette, Darling Nikki, Adore etc. I really like Gold, but that ending with the "You are now a member of the New Power Generation" completely loses it for me in its silliness. If its favourite songs that he's written, Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares 2 U is possibly the best pop ballad ever and thus gets my vote. Oh, I also consider his to be the best concert I've ever attended. Now if only we could have a Madonna Appreciation Thread...

That's right, this tournament has come to an end, despite taking nearly two months and being organised by two separate people. With a final result of 10-7, the greatest film of all time is... ...beating out its sequel. Use this thread to register your shock that such a film beat out others equally deserving such asWeekend At Bernie's. Also, relax in the knowledge that this will be the last tournament until Agent Of Oblivion allows.

I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. In theory, communism is great. In reality, it doesn't work. I think socialism is a far better economic system to be used. But I don't want to get into some debate because: a) nobody will be convinced one way or another b) this idiot's been banned anyway. Any official reason? That he's a bloody twit?
-
I hate the fact we get socialists like this on here and they make the rest of us look bad. I know of very few people who would deny that communist is a great idea in theory. Even the most pro-capitalist people on here would say that a utopian world of no greed etc. sounds great. You say that it would not work in American society. So I really don't see what your point is. You really are coming across as a bit of an idiot and I really have no idea what point you are trying to make. As for being allowed to flamebait here, I may be incorrect, but I think such a thing is often construed as trolling and thus isn't allowed here. But please continue, so anyone who actually is a serious socialist that isn't an absolute idiot isn't made to look as such by the lingering memory of you. And go to the Classic Threads for SKBF. I don't remember the thread's name, but the poster who started it should be Michael Joel Benoit or something along those lines.

What? It's not going to change anything? People either won't take this seriously or dissect your individual points from each post and it will become just like a Current Events thread, only in the HD folder. As can be seen from all posts thus far in here, the former has occurred. It's pretty inane really.
-
There are a fair amount of liberals here. I'd say this board would be nearly 50/50. It's just that they tend to shy away from Current Events because that is where the mass conservatism is. There are several people who have made their political feelings clear and at the same time said they will not go to Current Events because of the ignorance and over-the-top nature of some posters there.

For $10 each: REM - Murmur Roxy Music - Avalon I really love both albums. Avalon is probably the best melancholy album ever (I know many cite Joy Division as better, but I think they do this just to be hip). The title track is among my favourites ever. As for Murmur, I loved it too. It's pretty great to hear the roots of their sound before it evolved into what it did. However, it had four bonus tracks stuck at the end, three live versions of songs off the album plus a cover of There She Goes Again off The Velvet Underground And Nico which was the B-Side to Radio Free Europe. While the latter is okay, I think they detract from listening to it and spoil the atmosphere of the album (plus the sound quality on the live tracks is poor at times). I think it's a great album, but I don't think I'll ever actually listen to the bonus tracks again, barring perhaps There She Goes Again.

Ignoring the above post and allowing someone in a more able position to take the piss out of the said poster than I, I shall add my thoughts on the debate of the pluralisation of penis. I have heard many people argue over what the plural is. I, personally, say penii, but I have had several people take offence to this and claim that the correct pluralisation is penises. I have since looked it up in the dictionary, and have discovered that both are allowable, as well as penes. However, in an attempt to dissuade a debate on the matter (and failing), I decided to use the most conservative pluralisation of the word possible. In a similar vein, is the plural for vagina vaginas, vaginae or simply vage?

I thought Signs was great until the ending. The suspense as everything built up was done brilliantly, it's just a shame the resolution of all that happened to be as poorly conceived as it was. It was better than Unbreakable as far as I'm concerned. The problem with Shyalamaladingdong is that he had this revolutionary film in the form of The Sixth Sense but then did not really have much left to contribute and thus his other films are mediocre by comparison. If Unbreakable had have been his first film than maybe it would have been seen in a better light than it is now.

Your sig is tired and old. I'm sick of that bloody joke. It perhaps brought a slight smile to my face upon first viewing, but so many times later one does tire of it. I would turn sigs off, but once in a blue moon someone has an awesome sig worth seeing which pretty much redeems the crappiness of all others.
-
Murmuring Beast, you ruined your joke by making it far more subtle than it had any right to be. Next time make it far more obvious what your intentions are, possibly by adding a smily or two. This goes for all those who read this message. From here on out all jokes must be spelt out and explained in heavy detail. If this is not the case it is not funny at all. I shall notify Dames to include this in the official rules, as I believe one must be banned if they do not adhere to this.

Hey, seeing as how it happened with the Brits, can someone impartial such as AoO wank us?
-
See, I really think he was Australian. And it's not like we don't have plenty of schmucks worse than him. But he spoke about the State of Origin, he spoke about that McDonalds ad, his township was a real Australian town. There is no doubt in my mind that he is an Australian. I think any claim otherwise is just plain silly and grasping at straws. He was a crap poster based on his own merits, not someone else.

A thread where people posted pictures of their penises.

Use Your Illusion, Cuban Linx and JacK are all Australian, if I am not wrong. I have a hunch AustralianPride may also be Australian. I don't know how many others there are though. There was iB, though I have heard a rumour he was in fact Bulgarian, but don't take my word on that one. EDIT: Damn me taking too long to do a post!

Didn't my beating the beggar count towards anything?
-
While it makes me gooey inside that Agent has ranked me as the 4th best Brit on this board, I feel that the fact I am Australian gives me an unfair advantage and unable to fairly lay claim to such a title. Unless this is an indication of just how great I am, or conversely of how pisspoor the British people are. Who else here is Australian then?
-
John Connor in Terminator 2. That's the sole reason I think the first one is better than its sequel (note: have not seen third so don't know if his annoyingness carries over). Newt in Aliens. Generally I think I just hate the little kiddies in any movie. They piss me off. Not any version in particular, but I always hate Romeo in Romeo And Juliet. Worst Shakespearian character ever.

Who else here is English though?
