  1. No, if you look at the first post it says actors/actresses. But for some reason people find it difficult to judge the merits of a female performance and thus do not rate them as being amongst the greatest of all time. Aside from me, two other people nominated women. I will be shocked if any woman, bar maybe Meryl Streep, make it past the second round.
  2. So many tournaments. John Cazale (the most underrated actor ever) Harrison Ford Meryl Streep Cate Blanchett Bette Davis Audrey Hepburn Nicole Kidman

  4. Norton? Nowhere near. You may like him, but he's only really been in two movies which have any chance of being remembered 30 years from now, those being American History X and Fight Club. And those are big maybes. I think people's personal liking of the actor has clouded their judgment in terms of whether he will be seen as a screen legend. He has had some good roles, and his debut in Primal Fear was quite impressive, but I think he has some way to go to reach legend status.
  5. Con Air? Pushing Tin? Anyway, I'd say Tom Cruise and Russel Crowe are the only two huge stars of the past decade who I'd put as certainties. I don't know about the rest. Maybe Cate Blanchett as being the Meryl Streep of sorts of our time.
  6. Stuck With You Hip To Be Square
  7. The thing with Eugene/Regal is that there will be some confusion as to who is face and who is heel. Regal is not a fully fledged face yet, but for Eugene to act in such a way will not have him be seen in a positive light. Though the fans may like him it will not be seen as being right for him to attack Regal so aggressively. I think a Eugene/Regal programme would be foolish.
  8. My question, and it's a common one (and apologies if someone asked earlier, but I can't be bothered going back and reading): When did this forum appear in its original form? I joined December 2000, and thus am curious as to how long it had been around for by the time I joined.
  9. In regards to Mike SC: I believe this thread is indicative of his trolling. People go in there to talk about Farenheit 9/11. Then in comes Mike and says how rubbish the movie is and abuse anyone who makes comments on why they like it. Then admits to not having seen the film, per se, but nonetheless is quite sure that it is not worth seeing. Then the thread's creator says he doesn't want this thread to become a political debate but just people talking about having seen the film and their comments regarding it to which Mike says "Bad luck, I'm going to troll anyway". To me, at least, this thread is indicative of the fact that he should at least be warned. Because it's not even a rare occurence, but this thread pretty much embodies everything that is wrong with him as a poster.
  10. Is this really going to become a ritualistic thing? Banning someone decided on people's voting for them to go in Hardcore Discussion? Because I don't think that's really a fair way to decide on the bannings, it should be based on who the mods think is most deserving of being banned based on what rules they have broken rather than "I have found that poster mildly irksome and thus they should go". Besides, don't we want a bit of conflict on here? Anyway, I vote for A Mike SC. I have found that poster mildly irksome and thus they should go.
  11. The Great Dictator - 10/10. Absolute awesomeness. And to think I know someone who thinks Valentino was the best of the silent stars and not Chaplin (though this was a talkie).
  12. I'd say Zeppelin IV is their best album, and not just for Stairway To Heaven, but six of my top ten Zeppelin songs are on that album (and yes, Stairway is one of them). I think the biggest BS is that when I saw London Calling in at #2, I knew Born To Run would get the top spot. How did that not even make the Top 100? I like Low (but it's not as good as the other three Bowie albums on the list) but it has no right to make the Top 10. Probably wouldn't even make my 100. I think that list is amazingly terrible. It was doing kind of badly to begin with, but that Top Twenty just made it abysmal.
  13. No, and thank god there's someone else on here who shares my opinion. I sat throughout that entire movie on a bustrip while all those around me laughed their heads off. I think I smiled once. It is such a terrible movie and I can not believe that people are picking it over Young Frankenstein. Spaceballs was a torturous experience for me and is, in my opinion, the second worst movie I've ever seen.
  14. If Shawshank Redemption and Citizen Kane lose, the greatest four movies of all time are action/crime films. I don't think this tournament was particularly successful in its goal to be completely different from the other tournament (though at least we won't have two Tarantinos as a final, but I probably just jinxed myself into getting a TD/RD final).
  15. You don't know what a skirmish is? You are a retard.
  16. Cyndi Lauper, MC5, The Eagles and The Who are all coming my way worth seeing. As to which I'll get, it depends on what I can afford, and the only affordable act of those four is MC5, so I guess I'll try and see them then.
  17. Fight Club (18) The Usual Suspects (14) Reservoir Dogs (18) Se7en (14) Dr. Strangelove (15) Scarface (17) Taxi Driver (19) To Kill A Mockingbird (13) All of the above are a disgrace. Especially the winning of Scarface and Fight Club. My votes: Fight Club The Godfather Citizen Kane The Godfather Part II One of these is not the same as the others.
  18. I need a user name and password to open this apparentally.
  19. Phil Collins - But Seriously. Well, everyone thought he was cool at the time.
  20. I'll go Lennon like everyone else. I feel his death was one of the more tragic, especially considering society in the 1980s I feel Lennon's music and message could have been of massive importance. Not only that, but the nature of his death, while there have been other shootings such as Marvin Gaye, was absolutely horrible. He'd just come back from having no musical output for five years. I have to say that in Beautiful Boy, when Lennon says the line "I can hardly wait to see you come of age but I guess we'll both just have to be patient" I crawl into a ball and start sobbing uncontrollably. Music's greatest artist (in my opinion) to have died so tragically and so young, he's the artist who I'd have brought back. Hendrix would be next on my list.
  21. The article which you quoted from spells his name as being Eddie Guerrero.
  22. I don't know (and I ultimately have little to add to this discussion), but I was just in this forum and saw this with 19 views. I looked into another topic, looked back and there was 237. Does anyone know how that can happen? Until someone tells me otherwise I have come to the decision that all discussion about Johnny Nitro is haunted and glennsoe and possibly myself will both die terrible terrible deaths.
  23. I'll go Triple H. Even in his glory days of 2000-2001 when he had that streak of awesome matches they were all against great competitors. "Oh, wow, Triple H had a great match against Jericho, Benoit, Rock, Foley, Austin etc." Note his match with Undertaker at WM, quite average. I always thought he was good, but everyone made out like he was awesome when I always thought his greatness depended on his opponent. And I'm not HHHating, I've just always thought he was overrated.
  24. Fight Club, Reservoir Dogs and Scarface should not win. Fight Club is good, but nothing great. The other two are overrated crap. And it sadly looks like FC and RD will go through. And how the hell did Scarface beat Butch and Sundance? As for why are people voting for Apocalypse Now over Citizen Kane, I must say I am surprised, though I voted for Apocalypse myself. My personal reason was that both movies I can't really flaw because I think they're both remarkable. But I chose Apocalypse because of the fact that so much went wrong with the production of it and there is no way it could have worked and yet it went on to be such an amazing piece of cinema. While I know that's not really a great way to pick a movie, it was just what I decided on.
