Why is there such a backlash against The Doors!? I thought they were considered greatest American band ever and whatnot. Now "should have been bottom five"? People are strange.

They're handing out promotional albums at the concert!? Why didn't I get one!?

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread
spiny norman replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Brandon Truitt
WELLL, you need to see "Darla" from Angel season 2. Basically after Angel got his soul, Darla didn't want anything to do with him. But Angel came back a year or two later and wanted to be with Darla again. If you notice in "Fool for Love" Angel isn't very happy because he doesn't like what is going on. Angel had been killing/feeding humans, but they were just rapist, killers, etc. Darla noticed that, got him a nice little baby to eat, but Angel didn't want to do it because of the nice soul he has. Quick summary, but make sense? Ahk, thanks for that. Recently a TV station here played Season Two but I missed that episode. I thought maybe that explains Angel's behaviour in that flashback. Thanks again. -
The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

I was watching Fool For Love recently, and I just noticed something which I want cleared up here. I haven't seen every Angel episode, so perhaps I missed something, or perhaps this is a continuity error. In Fool For Love, when Spike kills his first slayer, it is during the Boxer Rebellion in 1900. However, in Becoming Angel got his soul in 1898. So why did he hang around with them for at least two years after he got his soul? In Fool For Love there is a lot of dissent between him and Spike: is that because Angel has his soul and is trying to hide it? Is it ever explained, or is it just a big fat mistake? Sorry, it just bugged me when I saw it. -
Because that sounds like the most awesome thing ever can I please get a link to this.

What a stupid awards show. How can anyone defend 50 First Dates being in the top five films of the last year, or Halle Berry's performance in Gothika etc. And where is Big Fish???

I am probably the biggest fan of the 80s I know, but even I draw a line for I Know What Boys Like. It is pretty abysmal. Looking up at songs I say shouldn't be on the list, I noticed I left Achy Breaky Heart. Whoops. That should've been #1 on anyone's list. Followed by Samantha Fox's Touch Me. Where the hell is that!?

Your house is very triangular.

I am curious as to people's answer to this, for a number of reasons: A) It's an album I've been listening to plenty of times lately B) Almost all the tracks are beloved and classic. It could easily be Bat Out Of Hell, You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth, Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad or Paradise By The Dashboard Light, all incredibly popular songs. C) I'm curious as to what opinion this board of mainly metalheads thinks of Meatloaf's over theatrical pop-rock. So go ahead and vote. My pick is 2 Out Of 3, by the way. Always been a favourite of mine. Worst is All Revved Up.

My nipples explode in delight.

I'll go an olive green tinge to it, just so as to be different.

Poll: Best version of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door"?
spiny norman replied to justsoyouknow's topic in Music
How interesting, last night I was getting in a debate with someone I know about this very same topic and was thinking of posting a similar thing, because she said that everybody loves the Guns N Roses version. I personally can't stand it, because of the aforementioned "Hey Hey Heyheyhey" (I always thought he said Bang, as in that's the sound of the knocking). It is also devoid of the emotion Dylan brought to it. I personally think it is GNR's worst song. I voted Dylan, obviously. -
American Pie is so much worse than American Life (I'm talking about Madonna songs, of course, not Don McLean's). Don't Worry Be Happy!? Sounds Of Silence!? Ob La Di Ob La Da!? We Didn't Start The Fire!? Greatest Love Of All!? Ice Ice Baby!!!!??????? The only song I really agree with is Achy Breaky Heart, which should be #1. And what the hell are Meat Loaf, The Doors and The Beach Boys doing on this list!? Take the current Top Fifty Billboard Chart for right now and I think you'll find more deserving songs on that list than on this list here.

I agree with IDRM, more into directors than certain actors. While in the 70s De Niro was a must-see, the 80s we had Harrison Ford and in the 90s we had Tom Hanks for the first half and Kevin Spacey for the second half, I don't feel anyone is able to do that right now. I'm surprised some people have Connery on their list: he hasn't done anything worthwhile since Hunt For Red October, nearly fifteen years ago.

I thought you would have Michael Jackson in your five?

Type in Eminem as your artist. Or if you can't be bothered: 2. Eminem - My Name Is Apr 1999 5. Eminem featuring Dr Dre - Guilty Conscience Aug 1999 7. Dr Dre featuring Eminem - Forgot About Dre Jun 2000 1. Eminem - The Real Slim Shady Jul 2000 8. Eminem - The Way I Am Oct 2000 1. Eminem - Stan Dec 2000 1. Eminem - Without Me Jun 2002 4. Eminem - Cleanin' Out My Closet Sep 2002 1. Eminem - Lose Yourself Dec 2002 6. Eminem - Sing For The Moment Mar 2003 6. Eminem - Business Jul 2003 So there you go, four UK #1s. God knows what the hell you are going on about. And while I hated the Spice Girls when they first came along, they've since become an almost guilty pleasure of mine. Wannabe is just a great bubblegum pop tune, and I always liked Viva Forever.

I agree with Angel's opening. Twin Peaks had a great one. Though it is an awfully long opener, the music and the beautiful scenery, it is really really atmospheric. The Wonders Years opening was great. The old home video with Joe Cocker playing over the top. Great stuff. Monty Python's Flying Circus opening credits are comedy classic, as was Fawlty Towers just for the everchanging sign.

Once Upon A Time In America - 9/10 I know some people probably think that I criminally underrated it, but I honestly felt it went on for too long. Still very good, but by the end my mind was wavering.
-
I'm asking this because I just was watching the second one yesterday and found I wasn't sure if I prefered it or the first, so I figured I'd put it to a poll. Which do you think was best (and please don't vote for one if you've only seen one)?

I know this is kind of strange, but lately I've discovered that I have this strange gift which I thought everybody had: I can hear things without being clinically insane. And then tonight I discovered my cousin has the same thing. See, if a TV is on mute and I'm out of the room or it's accidentally been put on AV I will know because I can hear this high-pitched noise that comes from it. Also, at the end of Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, when John Lennon puts the dog whistle at the end to send the dog crazy, I can hear it. I always assumed that these things were the norm, but I discovered that nobody else in my family has the ability to hear such things. Are my cousin and myself freaks, or are there other people in the world (or at least on here) with such an ability?

Once I was at my great grandmother's funeral, and the priest was giving the eulogy. It was a very sad and sombre scene, as one can imagine. Anyway, as I tried to gulp back a tear, I actually began to choke. So I began coughing violently, unable to breathe and so my mother who was sitting next to me had to hit me on the back a few times. Afterwards I began laughing, trying to hold it in as well as I could, and then I was just told to just leave and compose myself before coming back. So I stepped out and burst into laughter only to find my uncle standing outside as he'd been unable to bear the funeral. I think to this day he is still pissed off with me.

Huh, my family must be strange then. Because I always thought it was universal too until last night when they were all shocked I knew the TV was on. But dog whistles are strange? I still have that one, right?

Suzanne Vega had other hits though. Luka in particular sticks out in my mind. Great songs, she was a really good artist. I'm surprised she never made it any bigger.

I can't be bothered doing current, but all time: 1. John Lennon 2. Prince 3. Madonna 4. David Bowie 5. Bruce Springsteen It should be noted Bowie, Springsteen and Elton John (who is number six) are always interchanging depending on my mood.
