Usually I find these mega deals ridiculous but Ichiro deserves every penny of this one.

Tommy Young was the best I've ever seen and I liked Mark Curtis as well. I've always been a big Hebner mark. I always will remember getting to see one of his last working days for the WWE back in July of 2005 at a house show in Rupp Arena. Some people don't like his style but I loved how he reacted after getting bumped and then having to make pinfall counts (ex. the count he made during Warrior-Hogan at WrestleMania VI when he used both arms to make a near-fall count with the right hand being for 1 and the left hand for 2).

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
Danville_Wrestling replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
Totally agree with you on this one. All the hard hitting questions came from the viewers through e-mails, especially the one about wrestlers needing a union, and Larry just let them off with aversive answers as per usual. I thought it was a little hypocritical of Bret Hart to say that there needs to be a union because where was he in championing a union when he was in the WWF back in the 90s and was one of its top stars? I just don't recall any information about Bret's activities in terms of trying to organize (because we know in Vinne Mac's world that's an immediate pink slip - look to Slaughter & Ventura). However, I definitely knew Cena wasn't going to say there needs to be a union. On Benoit in general, I have been out in California teaching at a debate camp and initially the news of his death hit me pretty hard. However, now that more details have come to light I have lost total respect for the guy and feel disgusted that I rooted for him for all these years dating back to the fall of 1995. He deserves to burn in hell for what he did to his family, there are simply no excuses for his behavior. This will definitely make it hard to watch any Benoit matches in the future. -
Comments that which don't warrant a thread
Danville_Wrestling replied to a topic in Television & Film
I was bored earlier in the week at 10:00 and was surfing the channels and came across The Wonder Years on ION television. I remember watching a few episodes when I was eight and thinking it wasn't that great of a show but I have watched the episodes they have aired all week and I'm hooked. I never realized how funny and interesting this show was. I do remember hearing that releasing the 115 episodes of the series on DVD was stuck due to getting licensing for the music but is there a website out there I could find a way to order them from anyway? Thanks ahead of time. -
Sensational Sherri passes away
Danville_Wrestling replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in General Wrestling
I am also shocked at her passing away. I was not aware that there was anything wrong with her and she looked fine at the Hall of Fame ceremony last year. It's sad to see one of the best female managers in the history of wrestling gone. RIP Sherri. -
Wow, Verlander completes the no-hitter and with it the best pitched baseball game that I have ever watched. I was also wondering about the ESPN jinx because I was sure it got put on there towards the end (which viva already stated). The final line for Verlander tonight: 9 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 12 K, and 4 BB on 111 pitches (76 of which were strikes). Congrats to him.
-
Verlander will carry his no-hitter into the ninth when he will face the top of the order. The Tigers just concluded the top of the eighth with a beautiful looking 6-4-3 led by Neifi Perez. This is on track to be the shortest baseball game I've ever watched, with it probably going to clock in at two and a half hours.
-
Verlander still has the no-hitter going through 7 and nearly lost it on a Corey Hart line drive to right field, but Ordonez made an impressive sliding catch to keep it alive. That Elijah Dukes story is so sad yet so hilarious as well. Throwing at Gatorade? Give me a break.
-
Justin Verlander has a no-hitter going against the Brewers through 5 innings in Detroit. He's struck out 8 and walked three on 70 pitches (47 of which have been strikes). Detroit currently leads 1-0.

It looks like Randy Johnson is going to get the victory over Dice-K in Arizona. It was a close game until the bottom of the eighth where Arizona has gotten 3 additional runs. What killed Dice-K in the end was too many lead off walks in the game.

Good win for Woody today. I always pull for that guy for some reason. I still remember several years ago when he was a lock to win the MCI Classic and Davis Love III chipped in for birdie way off the green on the 18th hole and beat him in a playoff (where Woody missed two putts in sudden death that would have won him the title). Looking at the scores players were shooting on the course all week there, Austin's 62 is very impressive. I guess the curse of Australian players not being able to close out victories claims another victim in Scott. Maybe this guy is the next Norman after all (which pains me to say since I love the Shark)...

It's not Schilling-Johnson, it's Matsuzaka-Johnson. Your right. That's what I get for typing up stuff on the boards past midnight.

Red Sox come from behind to win 4-3 after a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded in the 10th when Ortiz scores. I was disappointed with absense of a play at the plate because I really wanted to see Ortiz put the shoulder down, running in like a tank to lay out the catcher to pop the ball loose. That would've been a fun visual. I guess I'll watch the concluding game of this series tomorrow since its the anticipated Schilling-Randy Johnson duel. Also, damn the Cincinnati Reds bullpen for blowing a three run lead to go to extra innings and lose to the Indians in 11 by 2. Griffey is lighting up the homers, though, which might lead to him getting traded this summer since his stock will be on the rise for teams that are in some close division races. As a fan, I'd hate to see him leave because I was really excited when he came to Cincy but it just hasn't worked out with all his injuries so it might be time to move him to get some good prospects/continue the "rebuilding" process that has happened over the last decade. Ugh.

The Red Sox have rallied in Arizona from an early 3-0 deficit to tie the game off the bat of Jason Varitek in the 6th inning on a 2 run homer and then double to center field in the 8th which scored J.D. Drew from 1st. Okajima is now on the mound for the Sox in the bottom of the eighth.
-
When all is said and done in Arizona, Boston demolishes the Diamondbacks 10-3. Boston turned the opening innings into batting practice and never looked back. J.D. Drew led the way offensively with a career-high 7 RBI's with two three run home runs. Beckett picks up his ninth win of the year to improve to 9-0 with an impressive 8 inning, 5 hit, 2 earned run, and eight strikeout performance. One of the only few Boston games I've gotten to see all year and they looked damned impressive. I can see why they are tearing up the AL East this year. I will say that I don't find the coverage of the Arizona games by their Fox Sports affiliate to be very good. Defensive switches happen all over the field and they don't even bother to tell you which pisses me off since I like to keep score as I watch the games. By the way, has anyone filled out an All-Star ballot yet and who are you voting for?
-
Looks like Josh Beckett is going to be going to 9-0 because Doug Davis is getting lit up tonight. He's surrendered 5 runs on five hits in just four innings. For a better comparison, Davis has faced 23 batters and thrown 90 pitches versus Beckett's 14 batters and 49 pitches. Red Sox currently lead the D-backs 5-1.

My goodness gracious...that's really tough on my ears.

Wow, what a collapse by the White Sox bullpen in the ninth inning to give up any chance to tieing up what was a 4-3 game. That top of the ninth took forever to play with Ryan Bukvich capping it off by coming in with the bases loaded and on his SECOND PITCH giving up a grand slam to A-Rod. Pretty funny to see all the Sox fans just get up in mass and start heading for the exit after that one. Bukvich then proceeded to give up two more runs on a Cano triple which scored Matsui (who was walked) and then Cano scored on a error by Uribe to first. I was just laughing at that last bit which gave the Yanks ten runs. What made it all the more ridiculous is that Mariano Rivera came in at the end of the eighth inning to get the second and third outs of the game so he got a SAVE out of a 10-3 game. Definitely one of the weirder games I've ever seen as the White Sox just could not get it together all night offensively, because even in the seventh inning when Konerko singled in Thome they stranded men on first and second with no outs, and even defensively with three errors.
-
Finally purchased an MLB TV subscription today and am currently watching Yanks-White Sox. White Sox just can't get any offense going to help out Contreras at all as we head into the bottom of the 7th. Only one runner in scoring position at all and that was with a Jim Thome double in the fourth inning. Yanks currently lead 1-0.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the NBA rig this draft lottery and have Boston get the #1 pick and Memphis ending up with #3 or #4. I really don't believe in the whole conspiracy thing but everyone knows that the NBA desperately wants to resurrect the Boston/New York/Philadelphia franchises.
-
I'd rather the Jazz be playing the Suns but you can't pick your matchups so San Antonio it is. We've had a good rivalry with San Antonio in the playoffs so I look forward to this series but I know we are huge underdogs to win it. Then again, a lot of people did not think we were going to get out of the first round either so you never know. I also hope Detroit locks the Cavs down and demolishes them in 4 so I don't have to see an extended series where the commentators are like "Lebron is like Michael Jordan with the way he is trying to will his team past Detroit!" And screw the draft lottery for being on so late.

5 Greatest Intercontinental Title Matches
Danville_Wrestling replied to humanoid92's topic in General Wrestling
Based on the IC title matches that I have seen here are my top 5: 1. Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat (WM 3) 2. Bret Hart vs. Mr. Perfect (SummerSlam 1991) 3. Bret Hart vs. Roddy Piper (WM 8) 4. Ultimate Warrior vs. Rick Rude (SummerSlam 1989) 5. Razor Ramon vs. Shawn Michaels (WM 10) Commentary is what made a lot of these matches memorable/special to me. I thought Hart-Perfect and Hart-Piper were two of the best matches Monsoon/Heenan ever commentated and Ventura's ripping on Schiavone coupled with a hot crowd @ SummerSlam 1989 for the match elevates Warrior-Rude in my eyes. -
17. Jericho/Rock 48. Triple H vs Batista 32. Rock/Foley 33. WWF vs. WCW & ECW Alliance 24. Razor/Michaels 41. Brock vs Angle 25. Mick Foley/Randy Orton 40. Savage/Warrior 19. Flair-Perfect 46. Backlund/Bret 20. HHH-Angle-Steph 45. DX/Hart Foundation 21. HBK-Deisel 44. Taker vs Warrior 22. Angle/Benoit 43. Austin vs Taker 28. DX/Nation 37. HBK/Jericho 29. Bulldogs/Hart Foundation 36. Thanks for posting this. I remember seeing this on Nitro back when I was in 6th grade and just dying laughing. That feud with Malenko is what I still remember Jericho the most for outside of his debut on RAW.

Question About "When Worlds Collide" PPV
Danville_Wrestling replied to zappafrank's topic in General Wrestling
WWE is editing PILEDRIVERS out of matches now? Good god.
