Does Y2J have a shot at winning at Summerslam?
Danville_Wrestling replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
We all know HHH has lost two consecutive matches @ WrestleMania and many are saying it's possible he won't want to lose a third consecutive match. Is it therefore possible to assume we'll get HHH-Cena for the WWE Championship only to have a repeat of WM 16 when HHH leaves with the belt as the heel and buries Cena in the process? -
well, i finally decided to buy

Maybe not the right place to put this, but here's a question I've often wondered. I remember in the No Mercy instruction manuel it talks about how the game has "records" and can give you like a win/loss tally of when you use the wrestlers in the game. I never found this, though. Does this even exist anywhere in the game? Thanks. -
My Two Cents: -Carlito going over Cena with Jericho's help didn't bother me much. It showed that Jericho's finisher could be devastating enough to get the title off of Cena and most importantly set up a main event for next week. I was afraid they'd do a stupid "you win and you get a title shot next week" and have the guy lose. They did that I believe many years ago between Eddie Guerrero and the Rock. -Shelton Benjamin JOBS to Chris Masters?!?!?! WTF!?!?! This almost made me want to turn off the show. I thought when Benjamin was in the Masterlock he could grab the ropes, which (as someone stated before) doesn't actually see Benjamin "break" the hold, but shows that he's smart around the ring. PLUS, when you have the Big Show come in and dispatch the heels easily it makes Benjamin look UBER weak. -Matt Hardy's run-ins are getting old. They need to have him actually DO SOMETHING CREATIVE with his next attack. Like c'mon, if he can only get a few punches in on Edge the last three times wouldn't any of us want to try a different mode of attack? It's just common sense. -I'm really getting tired of seeing Edge's finish being relegated to hitting people with his Money in the Bank briefcase. I guess Carlito has the finish in the ropes that everyone loves to see, so now the next heel has to use a foreign object. This has happened so many times now I don't even remember what Edge's finisher actually is! -I'm praying for no more Edge-Kane. I guess I can be a little realistic in that they didn't announce a match for next week. *shudders* -I'm disappointed they've made HBK-Hogan the main event @ SummerSlam. I guess that's what they've fallen back on since Batista-Hassan got canned. However, if they want to build new stars they need to take risks w/Cena & Batista and not push the same old superstars. Someone above mentioned the same mistakes with WCW circa 2000 or something. I'm starting to see the same disturbing trends. -Shawn Michaels promo was some good stuff, although I think it confused a lot of the crowd. Good to see the ol' Shawn Michaels back. Does this mean a worked "screwjob" finish @ SummerSlam? -I won't even comment on the Diva Search crap. That hot dog eating contest was terrible and I took a bathroom break during most of it. -I'm glad the announce table is back to its proper position. I hated it near the ramp. -What is going on with this Viscera push? I hated this guy when he was Mabel, I hated him when he was in the gothic gimmick, and I hate him now. Hell, my dad isn't even a wrestling fan and he saw Viscera on the TV tonight and said "why in the world does that guy have a job in this company, he doesn't do anything for me." Also, what a way to make your ONLY other tag team on RAW look weak at the hands of a fat guy again. -I called the Eugene/Angle segment in the first page of this thread I believe, but I think it's at least going to give us a decent match @ SummerSlam. C'mon guys, did you REALLY want to see Angle-Big Show as was rumored previously? BIG COMMENT: Tonight really opened my eyes on commentary and I'm not sure why. I think it's time to fire Jerry Lawler and replace him with the Coach. I see a big problem watching RAW is that there isn't a TRUE HEEL commentator to refute Jim Ross. Lawler used to be that guy, but when all the "puppies" and stuff got started his character started to mellow out and now he's a tweener which is terrible. Plus, Lawler's act is very stale by this point, even moreso than Ross. Therefore, I'd totally support firing Lawler, letting the Coach have his spot on commentary, and then we'd get a nice face-heel clash between the two commentators possibly adding to the passion of the match a little bit these days. Too often now it seems that commentary doesn't do ANYTHING for me in big matches and having a face/heel pair may reinvigorate that. Overall, an entertaining first hour, but after that it was completely downhill. I'm really starting to fear for the long-term future of the WWE now, though.

That just caused me to spit my lemonade all over the floor in uncontrollable laughing. Bravo. Seriously, though, the fact that Vince is so big on this guy b/c he reminds him of Zeus is enough to send shivers up my spine.

Yea, I don't think the DDP @ Spring Stampede matches up to Jericho at all. I thought going into that PPV that Jericho was winning the belt for the same reasons posted above. I also felt DDP was thrown in at the last second by the brass who were like "well we'll just make it a four-way so we don't have to do the ol' triangle match." I think after DDP won that whole thing I turned off my TV and was like "WTF?!?!"

Thanks for telling me about UFC Unleashed coming on after Raw because I forgot about it!

WWE RAW 7/24/05 (Watertown, NY) Results

I dunno, but it'd be more entertaining than Angle-Big Show as was rumored on these boards last week or so. Maybe they could run an angle of Eugene winning the Angle Invitational by having no one in a specific location show up, Angle gets overconfident that he can easily beat a retard, and Eugene goes the 3 minutes. Might add some intrigue, who knows. -
While Spring Stampede 1999 was a decent show, I didn't buy for a second that DDP was the WCW World Champion in that four-way match with Flair, Sting, and Hogan. Hell, before the pay-per-view I told my friends DDP had the smallest chance of the four participants to win and boy, did I eat my words. However, those poor ratings from May-the end of the year show that DDP's reign didn't really do wonders for the company.

WWE RAW 7/24/05 (Watertown, NY) Results

Yea, Eugene returned I think officially @ the house show I attended two weeks ago in Lexington, Kentucky. Was the match with Angle any good? I wish the finish to the Christy-Victoria match had been that way for the Lexington show. All that happened post-match was Christy & Maria (who was special ring announcer) double teamed Victoria and sent her to the locker room when she acted like a sore loser. Crowd was chanting Victoria louder than Christy, though. -
Yea, I think Matt Hardy will be the ambulance driver. I imagine Shelton will lose tonight to Carlito in a "no countout/no DQ" match. Hell, knowing how last week's show was booked could we see a "inferno match" between Cena and the Boogieman?

Looks like the NHL lockout is finally over
Danville_Wrestling replied to Fartsauce's topic in Sports
Well considering that the regular season doesn't matter for too much I can endure the shootouts also. I only really care about OT anyway when it's in the playoffs due to the big emotion that comes from seeing teams try to scurry around for that last goal. -
Eh, part of me thinks the WWE will make a really dumb move, put the title back on JBL, and have JBL-Undertaker for SS.
-
I have my hopes up for the Bret Hart & Jake Roberts DVD's so I'll see how that comes out. With Bret talking with Vince again that's pretty cool as I want him inducted into the Hall of Fame. In fact, if they could get back on track and organize a match for a future WrestleMania that'd kick some serious ass as McMahon vs. Bret is about the last big match that hasn't been used yet.

Great spots from Wrestling Video Games
Danville_Wrestling replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Video Games
I simulated a Hulk Hogan-Vader match yesterday on my HTCP game and it gave me a good laugh. The match actually followed a real wrestling formula with Hogan attacking Vader a lot in the beginning andVader rallied and kicked Hogan's ass around the ring for a good five minutes. HOWEVER, when Vader drilled Hogan with a powerbomb, Hogan had his feet in the ropes, actually Hulked up, slammed Vader, and legdropped him for the pin @ 10:21. I guess this game might actually have some politics in it, lol. -
Yea, and because Owen didn't want to do the angle with Debra he got saddled with the Blue Blazer 2.0 gimmick that ended up killing him. Basic lesson: do what "creative" tells you or they'll make your life a living hell.
-
Hey, I'm not saying Magnus is like the next Benoit or Dean Malenko here BUT if he gets fired I think that's downright wrong. What was he supposed to say when creative told him to do the angle with the Undertaker? No? Seriously, the guy was on a main event push where he'd be making tons of cash and was just doing what he was told to do. Hell, if they are going to fire the Hebners over some t-shirts then I say fire the idiot who came up with this angle in the first place instead of Magnus, who is young and can learn more in the business. I'll be the first to tell WWE to go screw themselves too if they try to pin all the blame on Magnus by firing him.
-
Yea, I'll admit the 1996 Masters was a choke, but when you start looking at what this guy could've done it's unbelievable. Hell, in 1986 HE HELD THE LEAD IN ALL FOUR MAJORS HEADING INTO SUNDAY, something no other golfer has ever done, not even Tiger. I messed up a bit with the wording saying "stolen." The 1986 & '87 Masters, '86 PGA & '93 PGA were definitely stolen by unbelievable shots. Plus, didn't he lose by a stroke in New Orleans one year when David Frost knocked in a damn eagle from 90 yards with a sand wedge or something? Losing like that can mess up any guys mental picture, which I think contributed to Norman's demise in future tournaments. I'm not saying Norman is the GREATEST of all-time by any means, just saying that he could've been if all those majors had gone his way. Also, Norman still has a huge following of fans and I for one still pray that he can somehow get his ass back to Augusta and win (even though that'd be like a 1 in 1 billion chance now with his age, injuries, not being exempt into the tourney anymore, etc). However, if you think Phil Mickelson's reception was something last year by winning @ Augusta that'd be nothing like Norman finally managing to get a green jacket.
-
Oh well, I guess if he gets released we could flood the WWE with angry e-mails about screwing him over.
-
Yea, I was never a fan of the Hassan character of Hassan's ring work BUT I do feel really bad for Magnus. I fear the WWE will just release him and make him a scapegoat when NOTHING is his fault. If anyone should be getting fired over this garbage it's the creative team for even THINKING that it was a good idea to have a bunch of hooded guys attack the Undertaker and choke him out with piano wire. I fear that Magnus's entire career in wrestling may be done as this gimmick will follow him wherever he goes and no one may want to touch him with a ten foot pole. Terrible ending for a guy who was young, had potential on the mic, and with some more in-ring training could've developed into something special.
-
I never get the "don't use my signature move" bit as part of a wrester's offensive moveset. I think Jake Roberts said in his shoot interview that he didn't mind wrestlers using the DDT b/c it just made his look better when other guys couldn't kick out of it when he hit it. I tend to agree with him.
-
Yea I don't see how those bonus features are exactly turn offs to buy the DVD, lol.
-
Re-booking two matches @ GAB? Does that mean there's a possibility JBL is going to take the belt and face the UT @ SummerSlam or a possible triple threat between Batista-JBL-UT?
-
I think Greg Norman could've been one of the all-time great golfers, but is often overlooked b/c he had a lot of major championships stolen from him. I mean when you look @ the statistics this guy could've won the following tournaments in addition to his 1986 & 1993 British Open triumphs: 1986 Masters, 1986 US Open, 1986 PGA, 1987 Masters, 1989 British Open, 1993 PGA Championship, 1995 US Open, 1996 Masters, and the list continues to go on. Greg was a great player for the game that spanned different continents and revolutionized golf with coming up with the idea for the World Golf Championships we see today. However, for the sake of the post I think Nickalus is still the best NOT ONLY because of his 18 majors, but because he finished runner-up in majors an unbelievable amount of times (over thirty maybe?). That is a crazy number and while Tiger has 10 right now he's only finished runner-up in a major twice (2002 PGA and 2005 US Open). Thus, right now consistency goes to Jack. I think Tiger made a bigger impact than Jordan. A lot of kids I grew up with started playing golf because of Tiger, but kids were already enthralled w/basketball before Jordan came around. Both guys were big for their sport, but Tiger has made a bigger impact in TV ratings & involvement for kids in golf than Jordan I think.

Might seem like a dumb question but were any of the first three Lethal Lottery's WCW held in 1991, 1992, and 1993 not rigged and the entire show was improvised? It's clear 1996 was b/c too many tag teams ended up paired together or feuds were on the same or opposite sides. However, I was just wondering if any of them happened on the spot. Thanks.

Yea RAW is headed down the crapper. I went to their house show (which I recapped already on this site) and I wasn't too thrilled with most of the matches. Sure, seeing Flair-Michaels was good for nostalgia and seeing the first Cena-HHH match was pretty cool BUT when you had to sit through 2+ hours of bad Carlito wrestling (although Shelton did his best to make that match something), Viscera & Big Show no selling everything, Tyson Tomko, Kerwin White's new offensive moveset which doesn't include ANY high risk moves, etc. it really starts to wear on you. It seems that right now they've got people who can talk or have some sort of charisma BUT THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO WORK A MATCH! Plus, the WWE's "let's work safe" style makes the stuff boring as f*ck.
