On this day, in 1983, Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson drowned while swimming in the harbor at Marina Del Rey, Calif. He was 39. Dennis was not only a good drummer, but a fine singer and song writer and should be remembered for his fine songs on the Sunflower album and his solo effort Pacific Ocean Blues as well as being a man who loved his family greatly. The original surfer boy, Dennis was the inspiration for Brian's first tune, Surfin'. He loved his family and he was loved too and will continue to be loved by fans all over the world.
