Bob Dole appeared in two skits in the November 16th, 1996 episode hosted by Robert Downey, Jr.- He was in the cold opening and Weekend Update- each time with Norm Macdonald. I assume Sharpton is doing this to show how cool he is and all that- so I'm sure there will be lots of self-deprecating humour.

Why do you say nothing good can from this? John McCain hosted last season and was very funny. It ended up being the second best show of the season. The Steve Forbes show was also good. Sharpton has a sense of humour and I think this is a good thing. They can do a lot of political sketches, which I always thought was SNL's strongpoint. This also means Jim Downey will probably be doing some writing that week- and that's a good thing

It was Sting v. Hart/Jarrett v. Benoit

I believe Benoit's neck got fucked up during TLC3 after the missed diving headbutt

What ten guys would you pick for the cover of a...

Austin is on the cover, for the most part, because of that whole historic feud. We can't have both sides of all of the historic feuds on the cover. On my cover I have Savage, Hogan, Piper (hottest feuds of the 80s) and Austin, Rock, Mankind (these guys fought a ton). But without Vince- there's no McMahon v. Austin. I don't even think he should be on the cover- but if you want one non wrestler on the cover- it should be Vince -

A McMahon wouldn't be on the cover, period. There will be a ton of stuff in the book about the family, and how it all started, we do not need them on the cover to pimp the book, let the actual characters do that. But if you're gonna part one non wrestler on the cover- it should be Vince. If the book is going to have tons of stufff about them- he should at least be on the cover. It's his company and he was part of the feud that helped turn wrestling around Yea but Austin v. McMahon was very important to the WWF coming back and becoming the #1 wrestling company. If you are gonna put a non wrestler on there- You should put the owner of the company on there. -

Then put Vince. He's the guy who made the company what it is and was part of the hottest feud at one of the hottest periods in the company -

But Andre the Giant and Randy Savage are much more associated, did more in the WWF and are more well known then the Brain -
You must have a VERY loose definition of the term very soon. WWE ain't going anywhere for a while

Gabe Sapolsky said after December Dragon is going to be working for ROH on a full time basis. It's a shame that syxx doesn't like actual scientific wrestling -
Triple-Groin? What made you decide to change it from Triple-Juice to that?

...When did you see this? I rarely post in the Sports folder. For the record, I LOVE the 80's. I'd prefer to go back there if I could, but damn the Yankees sucked back then. I didn't care...all I had was The Don. Dames Remember Don Mattigly's last game Dames? I do. Yea- I'm getting banned for that one

Double check that list. Sure you've not forgotten anyone? Yea- I forgot Shane Douglas. But I hate him with a passion so I'm not too upset about it. -

Will Lesnar/Goldberg even happen at Wrestlemania?

What's the point of staring a thread saying how Goldberg has a clause in his contract saying he won't work with Brock and then in the actual thread- you don't even know if it's true? -

My ten- Hulk Hogan Randy Savage Bruno Sammartino Bret Hart Stone Cold Steve Austin The Rock Mick Foley Rowdy Roddy Piper Andre the Giant Billy Graham Why not Bob Backlund? Cause no one really remembers him too much and Bruno and Billy Graham were much more over and important. Hogan, Rock, Bruno, Austin, Bret are all self-explanatory. Andre is one of the most famous wrestlers in the mainstream (right up there with Rock/Austin/Hogan) so I think he qualifies. Plus he headlined Wrestlemania 3. Hogan needed a good heel to play off of and Piper was his running buddy in the peak years of the 80s. When he wasn't feuding with Piper...Hogan was feuding with Savage. Savage is probably the second most famous wrestler from the golden age of the 80s. Billy Graham was the first big heel in the WWWF and paved the way for Steiner, Rude and others. Mick Foley was the one guy who was able to get over with 3 different gimmicks at the same time and the fans developed a love and a bond with him after seeing all he had went through. He also made people realise that wrestling fans can read- opening up a previously untapped market. -
Tremendous ROH Rant I found...

Because Dragon wanted to prove he was the better wrestler- and because fans love Williams and Dragon so guaranteeing you get to see them for 30 minutes will make you want to see the show. That's the point. ROH booking isn't rocket science- neither is any perfectly booked wrestling. You just give a reason for two guys to hate each other and hope it works. And with feuds like Punk v. Raven, Prophecy v. Low Ki and Homicide v. Corino- it has. Calm down man. There's no reason to go crazy or start flaming people left and right. It's just wrestling. Wildside claims that they're the #1 wrestling alternative as well. What the hell is a promotion we're gonna say? WE'RE #3!!!!!!! They do mention other feds a lot- On the 1st Anniversary Show they go out of their way to praise the promotions that have helped them. You do realise any point you're trying to make is being negated by your mindless flaming. See above -
Yea- tell Gabe that that Chris Lovey guy sucks
-
Eh- I didn't mind it. I reminded me of how the crowd would get pissed at Norm for some of his stuff. The minute I saw Sanz I said: Oh boy- this can't end well. You're absolutely right- You see Horatio. You see Jimmy. You know something bad will happen. I've heard that Lorne likes it even though I really hope that isn't true. Ugh
-
He was unbanned because there was no evidence that he did it Corey. And as everyone has said- Spanky and London fought once in ROH, were both in a 3-way and that's it

I don't Dave. That response was for the guy who said my reviews make him sick or something. -

Okay- I'll defend my reviews- Does ROH comp me? Yep Does that affect my reviews? No- except I make sure to plug RF twice as a favour. If a match sucks- I will say it sucks. If some of the booking pisses me off- I will say so. I believe I said Fleisch v. Red from Final Battle was bullshit. Gabe himself asked me to be 100% honest about the product. It's not my fault that ROH has trouble putting on bad shows -
I can understand why Regis does that since I'm sure he doesn't want a chairty losing $968,000. But let them roll the dice and go for it. I also thought it was funny how he kept freaking Norm out- forcing Norm to burn his lifelines. Norm didn't mind though since he considers Regis to be one of his idols
-
Yea- the Regis skit could've been a lot better but it was still good. I'll cut Ripa some slack- is she a real actress? Yea- I always get a kick out of that. My favourite one was DeNiro and Pesci meet Quinn and Breuer and proceed to beat the hell out of them. Jim Downey in Live from New York talked about how much he hates that and how cheesy it is- but I always think it's cool. It's good to know that people have a sense of humour. It didn't seem like he was trying at all. I remember in the Damon dress rehearsal Darrell's Bush bombed in dress. . Maybe because Jimmy's fanbase is comprised of morons?
-
Yea- Gobe can be amusing but other then that Sanz adds nothing but his huge ass
