  1. Yeah, but you could argue that, for one, royal rumbles are not one-on-one matches, and must thus be judged on by a different standard. So maybe a ***** Rumble just isn't as good as a **** match, because it's a Royal Rumble, and thus something else entirely. Though I find arguing over a star or two to be silly. I'll admit that I read Keith whenever I need a show recapped, but that's partly due to force of habit, and partly due to the fact that I'm so used to his star ratings that I know how much a given match will entertain me, generally. I agree with Maniac. I do usually read Keith's Rants and am familiar with his star rating system so I kinda understand where he's coming from. About being partial to some wrestler, he's admitted numerous times that he's partial to Benoit, Flair, Foley, Hart, and a couple of others. In the particular case of Shawn Michaels, he seems to get that the performer in the ring is one thing and the person outside is other, so while he marks out for HBK when he delivers in the ring he bashes him in stuff like his shoot interview. Of course, I don't take his word as gospel or anything and don't agree with him every single time. I do enjoy his reviews but I also read other's like The Dames and the like. It's always good to hear different points of view from different people, it's a matter of opinion. And wether he's fat, bald, short, or whatever shouldn't be an issue here. Let's discuss the matches, not somebody's personal higiene or something.

    Royal Rumble Delivers Strong Buyrate

You tell them, Grand Slam. I own alll the shows, either on tape or DVD, since RR1999, and a ton from before that, and am not sorry I do.

Kevin Smith and The Green Hornet

Big fan of Kevin Smith here. He revived the Green Arrow comics to great success, had a nice run with DareDevil, so I'm confident on his abilities for this other "Green" Dude. Hopefully it'll be a decent movie outing. Wonder who'll play the Hornet and Kato?

    Mick Foley DVD

I also have it, but with no free hat either. Damn amazon.com! Anyway, great buy for sure. If you already have the Hard Knocks... DVD there's a few matches that repeat themselves but the main program is different, so no complaints on my part. Pick it up.

    Wrestlemania Start Time?

I was thinking about the same thing, since it looks like the show'll end well after midnight. No matter, I'll still be there pretty early and try to admire everything before the show starts. And hey, what happened to the supposed Smartmarks Posters Mania reunion? Is it still happening? Is it before or after the show?

    Raw from JHawk's Beak (2/16/2004)

It's not just them though... I've checked a dozen other forums since Raw ended, and they're filled with posts like "Shawn deserves to be in the Wrestlemania main event after his great match with Benoit" or "Benoit has had great matches with Angle, Lesnar, Guerrero, and now Shawn Michaels" or "I think we had a MOTY tonight on Raw." I certainly didn't see a great match or a ****+ match or a MOTY when I watched Raw... This thing is quickly working its way up the overrated list. So, according to you, Keller, Keith, Jhawk, and all those people in those forums are wrong and you're right? You just deem the match overrated and expect everybody else to bow down to your superior wisdom? It's called OPINION. Just because people don't agree with you it's no excuse to push aside what they say. They thought it was a good match, you didn't, fine. There's something called respect. Apply it.

The Angle DVD delayed / cancelled?

I also noticed that and it was driving me nuts, since RR2004 is supposed to come out on Feb.24. BTW, did you notice the price for WMXX? $34,95 before pre-order, so it's a sure bet it'll be a 3-disc set. Whooo! Too bad on the Kurt Angle DVD. It sure seems they pushed it back in favor of the Cena one, which I'm not buying.

    New KISS Tribute Album

If I'm not mistaken, the Melvins already covered "God of Thunder" on a previous release. Please correct me if I'm wrong, it might be a different Kiss song. BTW, I'm sooo getting this CD, hopefully with the bonus DVD, too.

    Star Wars DVD's

Just like SpacemanSpiff said, I'll buy any version that comes out, specially SE, but I can understand if there's some fan preference for the original versions. Aside from the Greedo shooting first debacle, I like almost all the changes or enhancements made for the SE trilogy: the Wampa, the Sarlaac Pit, Bespin having windows, echo sounds on the Death Star, etc. And, oh yeah, the new ROTJ ending ruled. That first Ewok song sucked. **runs away from bps21** Anyone remembers the release date for the Clone Wars DVD? I'm getting those, too.

So What Did You Think Of The Contract Singing?

Regarding the legality or not of Michael's signing a contract that Benoit was supposed to, doesn't anybody remember that it's happened before? Jeff Jarret was about to give Barry Horowitz an IC Title shot when out of nowhere came Bob Backlund and signed the papers instead of Horowitz. Jarret had to defend his IC Title against Backlund. It happened on RAW a few years back so it's nothing new or something to cry about. Also, IT'S AN ANGLE. So stop calling Perry Mason for this.

    Indiana Jones 4 Delayed Again

Well, Francis Ford Coppola himself was willing to buy the American Graffitti script from the studio back when they were unsure to make it, so he must've thought it was good. But what the hell does Coppola know? It's not like he did anything important, did he? The issue here is George Lucas can't write! He's useless! All his movies suck! Who cares what some other run-of-the-mill director says, it's what WE say what's true.

    COMPLETE Monday Night Wars Extras

Maybe it didn't/won't do the sales numbers that the Flair DVD did, but I think it's doing pretty good. It ranked in the top 70-selling items on Amazon.com, just like the Flair DVD, which is an absolute rarity for wrestling releases. And the DVD itself is pretty good, even if you already have the Hard Knocks DVD. That one's out of print, so I'm sure some people are thankful for the new one.

    Indiana Jones 4 Delayed Again

What does he know about a good script. American Graffitti Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back Raiders of the Lost Ark He didn't write all of them, but I'm sure he had to approve them. So he does know a good script, even if he's missed the mark on others.

    Indiana Jones 4 Delayed Again

As much as I love the Indiana Jones movies, Harrison Ford is 62 years old. I'm not sure if he could be up for a big action flick, but I could be wrong. And the news failed to mention that George Lucas rejected the latest script, thinking it wasn't good enough. So if the script is good and Ford can deliver I say bring it on.

    Which DVD should I buy?

Kurt Angle DVD in March. Rumored 3-disc WMXX DVD in April. Divas in Mexico DVD some time after that.

    Which DVD should I buy?

I'm not sure about all of the six(?) matches but I remember a few: Austin/Pillman vs Flair/Anderson - 2/3 falls tag match Austin vs Mickey Whipwreck from ECW Austin's debut WWF match as "The Ringmaster" That's all the matches I've heard about. And in response to the question which to buy: Personally I'm getting both, but the MNW DVD seems better overall.

    Best REM Album?

Eponymous? Just kidding. Automatic for the People, for me. I kinda got into REM a bit late, around Document time. "The One I Love" is one of my all-time favorites of the band. Green I really didn't like that much, but I liked Out of Time more than most people. Automatic I absolutely loved. "Everybody Hurts" and "The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight" are among my faves. And Monster was a pretty good album IMO, with "What's The Frequency, Kenneth?" my favorite. After that I lost touch with REM's music so I cannot comment on latter releases.

    Getting back into comics

Any of the current Amazing Spider-Man TPBs are good jumping-on points, wether you missed something or not. They're all good to great reads. Everything related to the X-Men line you can find on TPB as well. And I can't say enough good things about the Waid/Wieringo Fantastic Four. Pick up the Imaginauts and Unthinkable stories NOW.

Marvel & Pixar To Work Together?

I second the Iron Man and Silver Surfer motions. Those characters would absolutely RULE on a Pixar-made movie.

Anyone have this DVD yet? It was supposed to come out yesterday along with the Stone Cold Truth DVD, or is it next week?

    Benoit vs. HHH to change

Ditto. As much as HBK is my all-time favorite, I'd hate for Benoit to be a third-wheeler in the biggest 'Mania of all-time. He earned his spot to be #1 contender and he should be. HBK vs Benoit at 'Mania I'd love. Triple Threat? Please no. Even more so now that I have managed to get a pretty great WMXX ticket to watch live history being made. This stinks of HHH non-job to me, wether Benoit gets the belt or not.

    Some Notes n tidbits

So the WWE can't do anything right in this regard? Let's focus on making new stars (Cena, Orton, Batista) and we get a "they haven't been here long enough" argument. Let's focus on making stars out of veterans/older workers (Angle, Eddy, Benoit, Rey) and we get the "DVD isn't 3 discs" argument. Let's focus on the old guard helping push the new guys up (Flair, UT, HBK) and we get the "the new stars deserve the DVD" argument. Thanks for playing, though. We'll finish up next month when everyone starts bitching again about Angle not getting his just due on his DVD retrospective. My sentiments exactly. Well said, braves.

Star Wars Ep. III To Feature Longest Fight In Film

Count Dooku was not CGI. Maybe just his face. Whatever makes you happy, man. If you didn't like the Yoda/Dooku fight then you have no business watching a Star Wars movie.

Smackdown Rating same as last week

Great news. It seems the push given to new people is starting to pay off for the WWE. Of course we'll have to wait for susequent weeks' numbers but I kinda see an upward trend. Agree, people?
