  1. As for essential PS2 games(that you haven't mentioned), I'd say Metal Gear Solid 2 Jak and Daxter(this is a great Mario style platformer, 2 is more GTA-ish but better than GTA in my opinion. and 3 I've only demoed) Grand Turismo 3(for some reason I like it better than 4, and you can use your progress with 3 toward 4 as well) all 3 of those are available at EB for under $10. I would also reccomend WWE Smackdown Here Comes the Pain if you don't mind an outdated roster, the game is much more fun than the recent version, and you'll get a sense of whether or not you'll enjoy the PS2(and into the future, it seems) style of WWE game. That's about all I can think of as far as essential games go. I do enjoy things like Fifa and such. Lego Star Wars is a lot of fun, kinda old school platformer-ey. There are race and space battle sequences as well, though
  2. Keiko Matsui, a Japanese jazz piantist, is good, as are some more jammy Phil Lesh shows, but I'd stay with instrumental things
  3. Today Opie and Anthony went on without Jim Norton because he supposedly had food poisoning, and the show was sooo much better. Norton does nothing but disgust me, he's clearly supposed to be like Artie, but instead of being funny, he just says awful, cringe inducing things that if anything make the show less funny. They're still a long way from Stern in my opinion, but they seem to need more time. This thing about naked girls among mouse traps searching for Tool tickets sounds awful, though.
  4. Will the aquisition of OVW's tapes mean we'll see more "Before they were superstars" and "Future Superstars" type things, you think?
  5. Actually, Song of Solomon was written by Toni Morrisson, who also wrote Beloved. Maya Angelou wrote I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. Song of Solomon and Belovedare both great books. "Solomon" won the Pulitzer. They're different from Zora Nelly Hurston in that Toni Morrisson, in those two books, wrote more about the myths and folktales and reclamation of magic in the African American community...kinda what Garcia Marquez did for the Colombians and Leslie Marmon Silko did for the Native Americans. And the main character in "Solomon" is named Milkman Dead. That's a kickass name. Excuse me please, I had a brainfart on the author. I'm aware of the whole thing with Solomon, but it doesn't mean I liked it very much.
  6. Would seeing a comic book character wearing a Nike shirt or driving a Jetta really inspire anyone who is of the comic reading persuasion(ie probably not a kid) to buy this stuff?
  7. Details are at this site. It has the comics they'll have and at what stores. I always like these, and I'm glad Tokyopop isn't blowing this off, there shouldn't be this huge split between manga fans and American comic fans
  8. You read much better stuff than we did. We did Shakesspeare, but until my senior year my teacgers weren't bothering to really help you learn it and appreciate it. Every year but my senior year we had to read "black" literature ie Their Eyes Were Watching God, Raisin In the Sun, Song of Solomon(or something like that by Maya Angelou, it's the Milkman story), and something about laughing in the title, the whole point was black people laughed to deal with their struggle or something. That was real interesting considering 3 of my four English teachers were pasty old white women, and the one black teacher I had was out for a month or two because her son had been shot by some psycho
  9. My mother used to listen mostly to 80s synth pop sort of things, but nowadays she listens to hip hop for some reason. She will also listen to Radio Disney and when they play Christmas music during the holidays, she won't listen to anything else.
  10. Lupin is the man. I remember a poll on an Azumanga Daioh board I was on and we held a poll, who was cooler, Bond or Lupin and Lupin easily won.
  11. I think as long as Lesnar stays away from the Hammer House, he'll be okay
  12. That's what killed it for me. I LOVE that movie otherwise, but that scene kills it for me. I also agree about the Metropolis scene, it's wonderful, but it shouldn't have a happy ending
  13. I remember seeing the old Adam West Batman movie when I was much younger, and I like it much more now that I can appreciate the camp. I mostly watched Disney as a kid, and now I hate the musical approach, but I recall their Robin Hood still holding up last time I saw it. For me it's mostly TV shows that I enjoyed, so they don't really count, I guess
  14. I don't know about anyone else, but sometimes writer's block or just plain forgetting about having a match happens with me., I lean toward the lax end, this isn't as bad as the time we had a show posted like Wed.
  15. Dear God, I actually agree with you
  16. Metropolis, like Spirited Away, is ruined for me by one moment, in this case the very ending, where they tack on a sentimental little semi happy ending
  17. Its basically a re-release of MGS3 for $30 with some extras and gameplay enhancements like an online mode, the ability to control the camera yourself (instead of dealing with the "cinematic" angles), the original Metal Gear game and the never released in the US sequel. Speaking of MGS2, I've got a question (I'll spoiler tag it for those who haven't played it):
  18. Y'know...I wonder why they're willing to be flexible on who faces who at Wrestlemania and such, like Batista instead of Orton, but they continue to try to make Cena seem unbeatable, unless they're just going to have RVD kill the man at ONS
  19. Dragonball is good either way. DBZ is well, it's like pro wrestling, either you can enjoy it for what it is or you hate it, I suppose
  20. Yes, go for Subsistence. And MGS2 is like $5 at EB, so even if you don't like it, it's no great loss. I happen to like it quite a bit, and am replaying it now
  21. will I be able to enjoy it after only reading some of the manga via Shonen Jump?
  22. Escaflowne is $40 at Best Buy for the whole series
  23. I've begun work on the HTML
  24. But there are shows that can be killed by a bad dub or editing. It's funny you bring up Yugi-oh, I actually kinda liked the manga when I was reading Shonen Jump(I need to get a subscription), but any time I try to watch the anime....ewwwww....
  25. The reason I proposed that idea is because Ken is just too beaten up and hurt, I think, to really have a great fight, and well, Tito is arrogant to no end, and he can do pro wrestling style crazy stuff like he did at 51, and I just don't see him as a really great fighter, unless he's really gotten his groove back since then, and if so, I take it back, but I'm behind on my UFC. I think the tag match idea would work, and it'd be a really nice thing for a special, or perhaps a mixed show
